• Ubuntu Preseed set Norwegian Keyboard?

  It's been a couple of days now that I am trying to make a fully automated unattended installation. I managed to make it work with Ubuntu/Cobbler and a preseed file, but I cannot set the correct keyboard layout which is Norwegian in this case. I am doing the tests on a virtual machine and when I am going with a normal manual installation (no preseed) everything is working fine. When I am using the preseed file, I always end up with an "English (US)" keyboard no matter the many different options I have tried. I can change it manually with the "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" command, but that's not the case. It should be handled automatically using the preseed file. I am using DEBCONF_DEBUG=5 when the grub is loading, and as I see in "/var/log/installer/syslog" file after the installation has finished, the preseeding commands are accepted. Can anyone help on this? • How do I set up nvidia graphics adapter to put out 1080p, it seems to be using interlace mode>

  After upgrading to 12.04, my mythbuntu client/server seems to be running in 1080i, the clue comes from: [ 1176.117] (II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "1920x1080_60i" [ 1231.340] (II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "DFP-1:1920x1080_60@1920x1080+0+0" This is from Xorg.0.log. This whole thing started from video tearing when watching Mythtv recordings. It didn't happen in 10.10. Should I use "TVStandard" "HD1080p" in the screen section since this is a dedicated HTPC? It only connects to an HDTV (1080p) via hdmi. • Windows 2008 R2 CA and auto-enrollment: how to get rid of >100,000 issued certificates?

  The basic problem I'm having is that I have 100,000 useless machine certificates cluttering up my CA, and I'd like to delete them, without deleting all certs, or time jumping the server ahead, and invalidating some of the useful certs on there. This came about as a result of accepting a couple defaults with our Enterprise Root CA (2008 R2) and using a GPO to auto-enroll client machines for certificates to allow 802.1x authentication to our corporate wireless network. Turns out that the default Computer (Machine) Certificate Template will happily allow machines to re-enroll instead of directing them to use the certificate they already have. This is creating a number of problems for the guy (me) who was hoping to use the Certificate Authority as more than a log of every time a workstation's been rebooted. (The scroll bar on the side is lying, if you drag it to the bottom, the screen pauses and loads the next few dozen certs.) Does anyone know how to DELETE 100,000 or so time-valid, existing certificates from a Windows Server 2008R2 CA? When I go to delete a certificate now, now, I get an error that it cannot be delete because it's still valid. So, ideally, some way to temporarily bypass that error, as Mark Henderson's provided a way to delete the certificates with a script once that hurdle is cleared. (Revoking them is not an option, as that just moves them to Revoked Certificates, which we need to be able to view, and they can't be deleted from the revoked "folder" either.) Update: I tried the site @MarkHenderson linked, which is promising, and offers much better certificate manageability, buts still doesn't quite get there. The rub in my case seems to be that the certificates are still "time-valid," (not yet expired) so the CA doesn't want to let them be deleted from existence, and this applies to revoked certs as well, so revoking them all and then deleting them won't work either. I've also found this technet blog with my Google-Fu, but unfortunately, they seemed to only have to delete a very large number of certificate requests, not actual certificates. Finally, for now, time jumping the CA forward so the certificates I want to get rid of expire, and therefore can be deleted with the tools at the site Mark linked is not a great option, as would expire a number of valid certificates we use that have to be manually issued. So it's a better option than rebuilding the CA, but not a great one.

• How to auto advance a PowerPoint slide after an exit animation is over?

  PowerPoint entrance animation set up with "Start: With Previous" starts right when a new slide is advanced. However, if you set up an exit animation in the same way, it doesn't start with a slide ending sequence. Instead, the "Start: On Click" trigger needs to be used and after your exit animation is over you still need one extra click just to advance to the next slide. Workarounds to this are obvious: create a duplicate slide, make your ending animations from the original slide being your starting animations on the duplicate slide and let them be followed with whatever you want or create a transition slide with those ending animations only and set up "Change Advance slide - Automatically after - [the time it takes your animations to finish]". These workarounds will make it work for your audience, visually. However, it has an impact on slide numbers you might need to adjust accordingly and/or duplicate content changes. If you are the only one creating and using your presentation, this might be just fine. But if you are creating a presentation in collaborative mode with three other people and don't even know who will be the presenter at the end, you can mess things up. Let's be specific: most of my slides have 0.2s fly in entrance animation applied to blocks of content coming from right, bottom or left. Advancing to the next slide I want them to fly out in another 0.2s exit animation being followed by new slide 0.2s fly in entrance animation of the new blocks. The swapping of the blocks should be triggered while advancing to the next slide, as usually. As mentioned, I'm not able to achieve this without one extra click between the slides. I wrote a VBA script that should start together with an exit animation and will auto advance a slide after 0.3s when the exit animation is over. That way I should get rid of those extra clicks which are needed right now. Creating a big transparent rectangular shape over the whole slide and binding the macro on it doesn't help either. By clicking it you only get the macro running, exit animation is not triggered. Anyway, I don't want to bind the macro to any other workaround object but the slide itself. Anyone knows how to trigger a PowerPoint VBA script on slide onclick event? Anyone knows a secret setting that will make the exit animation work as expected i.e. animating right before exiting a slide while transitioning to the next one? Anyone knows how to beat this dragon? • I cut-to-move DCIM folder to ext SD when an auto android OS update popped up b4 I could choose target - Cannot recover 200+ photos

  I was downloading my Exhibit II's DCIM camera folder (with month's of photos inside) to its external SD card, in order to transfer them into my laptop. In my overconfidence, I hurriedly chose cut-to-move (rather than copy-to-move) when KABOOM! —an automatic Android OS update popped up before I could choose the target!!! I figured everything was in cache & calmly tried to go through with the update. But that was not a typically seamless event. It showed downloading icon but hmm… since I rooted the phone it brought the command line up & recovery sequence. But neither Android nor I had yet downloaded any alternate custom ROM Files to internal SD to update from! So were they trying to make me unroot my phone by giving me some bogus update on the fly or just give me a hard time in trying to hand me down an unrooted ROM that I'd have to figure out how to root again? Yes, I know there was that blurb about overwriting a file of the same name but I was trying to shake the darn stubborn update being forced on my phone during this precarious moment. I thought I had frozen or turned off all those auto-updates previously. Anyway, phones are small & fingers are big (sigh)... I tried to reboot into safe mode but the resultant photo file was partially overwritten (200 files had names but Zero bytes in them). I thought maybe it was still hung in cache or deposited somewhere else but I have searched everywhere with file managers. Since I did not have Titanium backing up camera, photo folder or gallery, I cannot recover 200+ photos. Dumb. You can understand my dilemma as I am involved in the arts & although just a camera phone, most of these photos were historic & aesthetic or at least as to subject matter. Photo-ops don't reoccur. I have tried a couple of recovery apps from the market like Search Duplicates & Recover to no avail. I was only able to salvage stuff I'd sent out in messages. I've got several decades in computers & this is such a miserable beginner's piece of bad luck I can't believe it happened to me. They were precious photos! Yes, I turned on Titanium since & yes I even tried USB to laptop recoveries. Being on a MacBookPro I'm trying androidfiletransfer.dmg, but I'd have to upgrade to Peach Sunrise to get above Android 3.0 for that App to recognize the phone via USB & the programmer says installation zeros your data, so that pretty much toasts any secret hidden places where these photos may have been deposited. Don't want to do that & am still trying to find them. They certainly didn't make it to my external SD Card. If any of you techies out there know anything, please help & thanks. Despite decades of being in computing, unfamiliar & ever-changing hard or software can humble even the most seasoned veterans.

  I have a situation where the only way to generate a certain datafile is to print it manually to FILE: under Windows and save it in a file for further processing. I would really like to have a small stand-alone program which embeds this binary printer driver so I can run it from a batch file and have it generate that binary file for me, as we can then fully automate the "save file in Visio, 'print' it and upload it to the final destination and trigger a remote test". Is this possible with a suitable Windows SDK? I am a Java programmer, so I do not know Visual Studio and the possibilities with MSDN - yet! - but I'd appreciate pointers. EDIT: I have the installation files for that printer driver, both 32 and 64 bit. Older versions may include a 16 bit driver. EDIT: The "print to FILE:" functionality is just what was recommended by the documentation. I have played a little bit with using the LPR-protocol to see what it can do. I'd still prefer the "invoke small binary" approach.

  Given a class like System.Timers.Timer, or ANY managed class (whether user defined, from the .net framework, or some 3rd party library) is there some program I can use to (a) generate an interface based on this class and (b) generate a wrapper for the given class? for example if I have a public class Foo { public object MyProperty { get { ... } set { ... } } public int SomeMethod(object a) { ... } } it will create an interface interface IFoo { object MyProperty { get; set; } int SomeMethod(object a) { ... } } and maybe even a wrapper class FooWrap { // something for relay constructor here ... I'm aware resharper can be used to extract an interface but I've only been able to use this on my own classes. Aside: Wow, it is amazing how simply becoming accustomed to a previously 'unacceptable' idea eventually gives it legitimacy. A year ago the idea of having to create interfaces for all objects I want to mock and adopting an injection framework would have seemed like the height of madness. It turns out that while it's not quite death and taxes, it is sparta. I am aware of and have used typemock. It certainly is the work of elvish wizards. One day when $800 does not seem like quite so much money I intend to buy it.

  Say I have the following Haskell tree type, where "State" is a simple wrapper: data Tree a = Branch (State a) [Tree a] | Leaf (State a) deriving (Eq, Show) I also have a function "expand :: Tree a - Tree a" which takes a leaf node, and expands it into a branch, or takes a branch and returns it unaltered. This tree type represents an N-ary search-tree. Searching depth-first is a waste, as the search-space is obviously infinite, as I can easily keep on expanding the search-space with the use of expand on all the tree's leaf nodes, and the chances of accidentally missing the goal-state is huge... thus the only solution is a breadth-first search, implemented pretty decent over here, which will find the solution if it's there. What I want to generate, though, is the tree traversed up to finding the solution. This is a problem because I only know how to do this depth-first, which could be done by simply called the "expand" function again and again upon the first child node... until a goal-state is found. (This would really not generate anything other then a really uncomfortable list.) Could anyone give me any hints on how to do this (or an entire algorithm), or a verdict on whether or not it's possible with a decent complexity? (Or any sources on this, because I found rather few.)

  hi I want to generate unique id's everytime i call methode generateCustumerId(). The generated id must be 8 characters long or less than 8 characters. This requirement is necessary because I need to store it in a data file and schema is determined to be 8 characters long for this id. Option 1 works fine. Instead of option 1, I want to use UUID. The problem is that UUID generates an id which has to many characters.   I am using netbean and JSF to do my project, recently I encountered a problem that confused me. The question: There is a set of check box groups that identify the artifacts from the nature, creator, period and school. And all the artifacts are stored in a table of database. I would like to select the items by nature or creator or something like that, and generate a list for the items selected in the next page. There are some tables of database for artifacts, nature, creators and school, and the type_ID(this is the nature), creator_ID, school_ID are the foreign keys in artifacts table.   I am attempting to execute a combination of the FindBugs commands filterBugs and convertXmlToText, against a bug database that I created, to generate a report that shows me the all of the bugs removed between two revisions of the system that I am working on. Unfortunately, the resulting report does not show any bug details. It appears that the convertXmlToText throws away all bugs that are dead (aka inactive)... the exact set of bugs that I'd like to see.
