• Tic Tac Toe Winner in Javascript and html [closed]

  I am writing a tic tac toe game using html, css, and JavaScript. I have my JavaScript in an external .js file being referenced into the .html file. Within the .js file, I have a function called playerMove, which allows the player to make his/her move and switches between player 'x' and 'o'. What I am trying to do is determine the winner. Here is what I have: each square, when onclick(this), references playerMove(piece). After each move is made, I want to run an if statement to check for the winner, but am unsure if the parameters would include a reference to 'piece' or a,b, and c. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   I've been experiencing this problem for quite a while, and it's quite frustrating. I'll do a traceroute, to www.l.google.com, for example.   we are a small web development company that has till now been working on client projects. we employed little to no project management and that has cost us a lot. we've used only the barest of tools (wireframing, prototyping etc) but no formal project management process has been put into place. we've learnt from our mistakes and want to prevent them from happening in the future. also, we are looking to develop our own products and we understand that putting in a proper project management paradigm will help. after a lot of research, we've sort of settled on agile for a few reasons: agile seems to scale well with team size. our team is small right now and we hope to grow and agile seems to be a process that we can put in place now and grow with. agile will help us with customers who just can't seem to make up their minds and keep changing requirements. we'd appreciate the community's thoughts on this. is this a correct way to think? will agile be a good system to put into place, where there has been none till now? are there any resources that may help us in our position? pretty much all of the resources that we've found start by comparing agile to x (where x = any management methodology) and why its better than x and how agile can be implemented in place of x. we're looking for resources that can help us out in our particular situation. thanks for all your help!

I have done some reading on what URLS should look like for search engine optimisation, but I am curious to know how mine would like, I need some advice. • Cannot choose windows installation [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Ubuntu 12.4 and XP on Seperate Drives, Dual Boot, How? I've never used Linux before in any form, but was always intrigued, so after a while of deciding whether to risk it I installed Ubuntu 12.04 During the installation I was asked "what would you like to do?" Install Ubuntu as the only operating system, alongside another os, or something else. I chose something else as I wanted to format one of my old 100Gb IDE drives to serve as the partition to install ubuntu on. I formatted this drive with ext4 and made it the root directory for the installation, all ok. I also have on a 1Tb SATA drive two partitions (splitting the disk in 2) one of these contains windows 7 and I did nothing to this drive (and was careful to do so) After the installation finished the computer restarted and gave me no option for choosing operating systems? what have I done wrong how can this be fixed? I would still like to be able to use Win7 for gaming. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. :)

  I am facing a problem sending credentials to another website so that I can login the user (automatically, not clicked on sign in here) and get an oauth_verifier value. I want to send the email address and the password through a form (submit button) from my website (e.g. a Liferay portal) to another website (e.g. LinkedIn), so that it automatically returns an oauth_verifier to my website. That means I don't want the user of my website to submit his email and password to LinkedIn again. My goal is to take the email and password of the user in my website and show the user his LinkedIn connection, message, job posting (again, in my website, not LinkedIn). I dont want the user redirected to the LinkedIn website to sign in there and then come back to my website. I have taken a consumer key and a secret key from LinkedIn for my web aplication. I am using the LinkedIn API and getting oauth_verifier for access token but in order to login, I have to take user to LinkedIn to sign in, while I want it to happen in the backend.

  Possible Duplicate: Why would Google Rich Snippets work for one site author but not another? I'm facing one problem here. I made rich snippets - microdata for the website but google ignores all of them. Here is how it looks like in testing tool . It doesn't detect any errors. I've read that google ignores the microdata in hidden fields. Unfortunately this is partially the case since I use jquery to interact with the contect, but nevertheless it is not hidden everywhere and I believe that google should recognize at least the microdata visible to the user permanently. Am I missing something here? It is now about 3 weeks since I updated website with rich snippets.

• The road to become a programmer [closed]

  I'm looking for a 'career' change, I don't actually have a career at the moment since I haven't been able to find a job since I graduated with a degree in Materials Engineering. One of my loves has always been computers and programming, though I have never studied it seriously. When I was 11 I wrote a very basic graphical 'game' using notepad and HTML, where I drew each possible position of the main character on the different 'maze' level in MSPaint, using pictures of arrows as links to a new page with the character in a new position, and various other buttons would pop up 'search box', 'press button' etc. At the time I thought this was an amazing achievement of my programming skills. I've used a little bit of FORTRAN 90 whilst I was at university, which rekindled my interest in programming. When I was a kid I mainly used C and HTML, but only very basically as my 'game' suggests. I want to learn a new programming language, I'm not entirely sure where I want to go with it, but the number one contender at the moment is android apps. I'm looking at learning Java, but I've read that it's a difficult place to begin with; so I've also looked at learning Visual Basic, which I believe is also object oriented(?) but a little easier to understand? (not that I know what an object is anyway). Any information people could give me regarding which language to learn, and if there are any good online tutorial for that language I'd really appreciate it. Some of the tutorials I've used so far are full or jargon I can't understand. Also, I'm not afraid of maths having got an engineering degree. Thanks in advance for any help/advice. James

  I am editing a recently asked question and making it specific, taking the advice of some people here. I would like to program of the following simple form: The user can produce X number of resizable frames (analogous to HTML frames). Each frame serves as a simple text editor, which you can type into and save the whole configuration including resized windows and text. The user should be able alternately "freeze" and present the information, and "unfreeze" and edit frames. I want to use C## with WPF, in Microsoft's Visual C#. I do not yet know this language. I am sure I can pick up the syntax, but I would like to ask about some general advice for how to structure such a program. I have never made a GUI program, let alone one that interfaces with a notepad or some basic text editor. Can someone either direct me to a good resource that will teach me how to do the above? Or outline the basic ingredients that such a program will require, keeping in mind that though I know some C and Python, I have no experience with GUIs or advanced programming generally? In particular I don't know how to incorporate this "text editor" aspect of the program, as well as the resizable frames I would greatly appreciate any help.

• How important are SEO Friendly URLs [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Is a URL with a query string better or worse for SEO then one without one? Currently, my URLs look something like http://mydomain.ext/question/5 where question is the Controller and 5 is the ID of the object or article retrieved. In theory I could spend some development time and some server resources to have URLs that would contain more information about the page loaded. However, seeing how websites like Youtube or many others just keep simple URLs with just an ID, I am asking, does it matter? It is worth it??

  I'm having problems with Code::Blocks 10.05 my os specs: Ubuntu 11.04 - fresh install gtk theme: Ambiance Unity The actual problem (don't mind the code nor the errors) the most visible one - stripes As I scroll down the code, the horizontal stripes start to show up. I think it's some problem with the screen updating, because when I force it to update (for example by selecting the text or invocating the contextual menu by pressing the right mouse button), the stripes disappear. the second one - font colour bug I believe this is the Ambiance's bug because it doesn't happen in other themes. You can see it in the left panel where it says "Workspace" and in the panel at the bottom in the Build messages tab: the selected line makes the text barely readable. Is there any fix to these bugs?   I recently got a new Droid Bionic, and it has the SD/HC card. Today, I got a new USB card reader that reads the HC format. When I plug it into my Linux Mint 11 (katya), Gnome 32-bit computer, I get this error every I try to copy or move any file off of the card onto my desktop: Error splicing file: Input/output error I don't have the problem on a Windows Vista computer. I have a template structure similar to the below one: /templates/place1/inner_a.tpl /templates/place1/inner_b.tpl /templates/place2/inner_b.tpl /templates/place2/inner_c.tpl /templates/default/inner_a.tpl /templates/default/inner_b.tpl /templates/default/inner_c.tpl These are getting included on the parent template using {include file="{$temp_folder}/{$inner_template}"} So far great. What I wanted to do is having a default for, in the case that the file "{$temp_folder}/{$inner_template}" does not exists, it uses the equivalent file at "default/{$inner_template}". i.e. If I do {include file="place1/inner_c.tpl"}, since that file does not exists it in fact includes "default/inner_c.tpl" Is it possible?

• jquery stop image slider when accordian menu is closed

At the moment the page loads a blank picture area and when an accordion menu item is closed it just restarts that menu items picture slider. (So on page load and when all accordions are closed I need it default to an image on the right.) Some of the items only have 1 picture i.e. posture 3 you will notice when you click on it, it shows the image and then goes blank, can it just fade the image in and leave it there if there is only 1 image?   I went to the doctor for anxiety and was prescribed a small dose of lexapro to help with anxiety and sleeping better. I am cautious about taking it since this is the first time it's got bad enough for me to talk to someone and I'm concerned it may negatively impact my career as a software developer. I'm also afraid that once I start it may be difficult to come off. Does anyone on here have experience with this? Is it likely that taking lexapro would negatively affect my problem solving skills, passion for programming or job performance? Thanks for any suggestions.
