• Long time to load first sql connection in .NET

  For some reason it takes 7 seconds to open a connection to a sql server database for the firt time, subsequent connections takes a second. any idea what could be the reason? I'm using C# and asp.net Its after compilation, i essence every time i restart the site, which means every time it needs to actualy create the "first" connection. i understand that setting up connection pooling has overhead, but i have never seen that i should take 7 second to set it up.

  By default DB connections of JPA applications are configured in the META-INF/persistence.xml, when the application is not deployed to a full Java EE application server. In my opinion it is not very elegant to place such environment specific configuration into a file that is inside a .war file. How could a DB connection of a Servlet based JPA application be configured more flexible (=outside of the .war file)?

• UDP traffic effect on network performance

  well, i have network that each proxy (lets assume we have 200 proxies), send UDP packages every constant amount of time. (let assume 10 seconds) to constant amount of hosts (lets assume 10) my question is how will 6 * 10 seconds * 200 proxies * 10 target hosts = 120,000 UDP roundtrip communication per minute will affect my network, in terms of available connections, speed, stability, UDP package loss rate etc... can anyone please refer me to some links on this issue ? thanks

  Is there a way to reuse SSL socket connections on the iPhone. I'm seeing an extra 3-4 second overhead in doing SSL handshaking. I'm using NSURLconnection currently to do the API calls and each one of them is taking 4-5 seconds on Wifi. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  I have to create a 2d array with unknown size. So I have decided to go with a 2d ArrayList the problem is I'm not sure how to initialize such an array or store information. Say I have the following data 0 connects 1 2 connects 3 4 connects 5 ....etc up to a vast amount of random connections and I want to insert true(1) into [0][1], true(1) into [2][3], true(1) into [4][5]. However, the SQL Profiler doesn't seem to track the queries when running against a Reporting Server, the profiler doesn't seem to be capturing any of the queries. I'm logging the defaults (SQL:BatchCompleted and Starting, RPC:completed, and Sessions - Existing Connections) What events should I be capturing in SQL Profiler in order to run the tuning advisor?

  Could someone please explain what an I/O Error 32 refers to in the context of a network socket? I have a multithreaded Socks5 server written using Poco SocketReactors and am getting this error when the server load reaches a certain point. The exception is thrown within my onReadable handlers at the same time across all threads which have connections associated with them. The only other thing I am doing within those threads is std::cout but I am not sure if this is a potential cause.

  I have this doubt, I've searched the web and the answers seem to be diversified. Is it better to use mysql_pconnect over mysql_connect when connecting to a database via PHP? I read that pconnect scales much better, but on the other hand, being a persistent connection... having 10 000 connections at the same time, all persistent, doesn't seem scalable to me.   I trying to make MySQL available by 2 ports: 3306 and 3339 I added rule to iptables: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i bond0 -p tcp --dport 3339 -j REDIRECT --to-port 3306 and everythin is great for remote connections. But if I'm trying to connect it locally, I'm getting an error: mysql -u username -ppassword --port=3339 -h Host.Name ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'Host.Name' (111) Any ideas how can I edit iptables to get local access via 3339 port?
