  • sharepoint crawl not indexing main site

    Guys I'm having some strange search issues' going on with my main portal application. First off let me give you a little back ground on the problem web app. Our Sharepoint environment was originally set up by a consultant that did not follow best practices. She used one web app to house our companies' intranet site, ssp, and mysites. Since than I have provisioned a new ssp that I have segmented correctly I moved all of our other sites over to the new ssp with out any problems . However, I could not assign the main portal app to the new ssp since the portal app housed the ssp site collection. So I deleted the ssp site collection after that I deleted the ssp and assigned the portal app to my new ssp. Now this is where the problem starts when I attempt to crawl this application the crawl starts than stops 5 seconds later with a status of success also it reports that 1 item was successfully crawled. The funny thing is the main portal app has nearly 30000 items. I have tracked the problem down to the web app if I create a test web app than restore the content I have no problem crawling all 30000 items. Also all of my other web apps that use the same ssp have no problem completing crawls. I don't see anything in the ULS logs or server 2003's event viewer. Also I'm using a separate dedicated index server that's configured to crawl itself via host file configuration. I would like to fix this problem with out having to recreate our main portal site due to the fact that we have several custom code modifications where DLL's were registered to the IIS bin folder also I don't even want to get into the Silverlight mods that were done.   • Exchange Web Service (EWS) call fails under ASP.NET but not a console application

    I'm getting an error when I attempt to connect to Exchange Web Services via ASP.NET. The following code works if I call it via a console application but the very same code fails when executed on a ASP.NET web forms page. Just as a side note, I am using my own credentials throughout this entire code sample. "When making a request as an account that does not have a mailbox, you must specify the mailbox primary SMTP address for any distinguished folder Ids." I thought I might be able to fix the issue by specifying an impersonated user. exchangeservice.ImpersonatedUserId = new ImpersonatedUserId(ConnectingIdType.SmtpAddress, "[email protected]"); But then I get a different error. "The account does not have permission to impersonate the requested user." The App Pool that the web application is running under is also my own account (same as the console application) so I have no idea what might be causing this issue. I am using .NET framework 3.5.   • ActionMailer and Exchange

    Hello Community, I successfully send Mails via SMTP using my Rails App and my Postfix Server. Now I need to move to an Exchange: Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.3959 that has POP3 and SMTP support enabled. I use actionmailer 1.2.5 and am not able to successfully login to the server while trying to send a mail. In case I use Mail.app sending and recieving works fine as long as I change the authentication schema to "Password".   • ASP.NET Emails blocked by Spam filter on Exchange

    I'm trying to send an email via some C# ASP.NET code. This is being sent to our internal mailrelay server, with our standard "from" address (e.g. [email protected]). In some instances, this is getting through OK, in others, it's getting blocked by the Spam Filter. An example of our Web.config <mailSettings> <smtp from="[email protected]"> <network host="mailrelay.domain.com" defaultCredentials="true" /> </smtp> </mailSettings> I've spoken with our Exchange Server team and they inform me that on occasions, our mail looks sufficiently like spam and is automatically blocked. The algorithm appears to be points based and blocks on a score of 45. 20 points are instantly added because our system is not sending the hostname with the domain name suffixed. e.g. the server is hoping for myServerName.domain.com, but despite being part of that domain, the server is sending from myServerName. I've been asked to look at altering the EHLO string that is sent and/or influencing the host so that it is its fully qualified name. However, this makes little sense to me, and although I understand the concept of what I need to change - I don't know where to begin looking for the fix.

  • Sharepoint 2007 - cant find my modifications to web.config in SpWebApplication.WebConfigModification

    Hi, I cant seem to find the modifications I made to web.config in my FeatureRecievers Activated event. I try to get the modifications from the SpWebApplication.WebConfigModifications collection in the deactivate event, but this is always empty.... And the strangest thing is that my changes are still reverted after deactivating the feature... My question is, should I not be able to view all changes made to the web.config files when accessing the SpWebApplication.WebConfigModifications collection in the Deactivating event? I need to control the behavior of each record based on that field content. For certain status the record should became read only, and only admin users should be able to edit / change it.   • Copying Pasting Word 2007 docs to HTML WYSIWYG editors

    Microsoft word has a ton of proprietary formatting and styles that do not translate well to html WYSIWYG editors. When you paste them over to the html editor and try to edit the pasted info it causes all kinds of clashing styles. I want to be able to keep the general structure but leave out the proprietary stuff. Essentially I want to save clients the headache of having to completely strip out all formatting forcing them to redo all the styling again in the WYSIWYG, but at the same time avoid the conflicts that Word formatting creates. Any ideas?

    I created a Web Application called testwebapp and then a site collection (testsite). When I try siteCollection = new SPSite("http://localhost"); in Visual Studio 2008 it throws an error Web Application is not found. Of course, the localhost works in IE and I don't know why testwebapp doesn't work. Any ideas? TIA! David

If so, what should be the correct value? I tried to add FBA user directly in sharepoint group or added the user to a asp.net role and then added the role to sharepoint group, but both failed. My observation is that all FBA users can see the webpart content no matter whether they are specified in audience targeting or not. After googling it, I found there are three different conclusion about this, FBA cannot be used with audience targeting FBA can be used with audience targeting FBA can be used with audience targeting if the FBA user is added directly to sharepoint group May I know which is the correct explanation?     Hopefully someone has been down this road before and can offer some sound advice as far as which direction I should take. I am currently involved in a project in which we will be utilizing a custom database to store data extracted from excel files based on pre-established templates (to maintain consistency). We currently have a process (written in C#.Net 2008) that can extract the necessary data from the spreadsheets and import it into our custom database. What I am primarily interested in is figuring out the best method for integrating that process with our portal. What I would like to do is let SharePoint keep track of the metadata about the spreadsheet itself and let the custom database keep track of the data contained within the spreadsheet. So, one thing I need is a way to link spreadsheets from SharePoint to the custom database and vice versa. As these spreadsheets will be updated periodically, I need tried and true way of ensuring that the data remains synchronized between SharePoint and the custom database. I am also interested in finding out how to use the data from the custom database to create reports within the SharePoint portal. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

    Do you know what basic information MUST include a paragraph (w:p) in document.xml inside a *.docx document, that specifies an image? I do know there must be <a:blip r:embed="rId4" /> specifing the relation id, but what else? It's very hard to find it in google and experimenting with cutting out tags from a ready document or reading the specification takes a lot of time. An example with all the required tags would be greatly appreciated.

  • excel 2007 vba: how to refer to HPageBreaks

    I'm trying to write a macro which can look into the list of horizontal page breaks that a worksheet keeps, and it seems like HPageBreaks should be exactly that. I can add or remove page breaks from it, but I can't seem to isolate the collection itself to look at its contents. Even adding a watch and looking at ActiveSheet.HPageBreaks just brings up a generic looking object with a count field equal to 0 regardless of existing page breaks. I'm really confused about this now. Is there any way to look into the existing page breaks within a sheet? A listing of what rows they occur on/between would be great.

For this i created a web application with windows authentication for intranet zone and after that, I created an extension for an internet zone with fba. In the internet extension we have the following requirement: - able to acess to sharepoint backoffice using fba. - have a authentication mecanism for portal visitors, where they can authenticate and acess to a page where they can subscribe the newsletter and define some site appearance (this users can't acess to sharepoint backoffice). My idea is use the aspnet membership provider to authenticate both users and create diferente roles for them. Anyone suggests another approach? Is there any way to ensure that visitors (2 case) do not enter the backoffice portal? Thanks

  • Access 2007 VBA : Building a listbox with selection choices from another list box

    So there are 8 categories that may be associated to each order, but not necessarily all of them. So i was going to build a list box that allowed the user to double click each of the category they wish to associate when they have an "Order Detail" form opened up (unbound form that has hidden text boxes with all needed ID numbers). I want to have another empty text box right beside it that will allow me to append the selections (up to 8) so the user can see that they have been added. So one list box with the default choices, and when a choice is double clicked, it adds that choice to the second list box to see the tally so to speak.
