• Is there a usable HTML web gallery template for Lightroom 2?

  The built-in HTML gallery unfortunately generates invalid HTML markup so its looks are likely more coincidence than proper design. That aside its JavaScript usage prevents using the middle mouse button to open an image in a new tab. A look at the few free HTML gallery templates out there shows me that there seems to be little interest in building an actual HTML gallery which doesn't use JavaScript. Most of them are using JS to build fancy animations or in-page popup boxes containing the image. This may be nice for some people but at least one person who looks at my images is on dial-up and quickly opening all images in individual tabs to let them load and then close the connection is very nice to have there. Anyone seen such a gallery template; i. e. simple, plain HTML without JS? My HTML/CSS skills aren't that good that I can develop such a thing on my own, unfortunately.

• I finished coding my program. What's next? what are the steps I should take that would enable me to

  Hi, I finished developing a program and would like to sell it online. However, I am not really sure of what to do next. Here is my current plan (in-order): 1- Add a 'deployment' project (i'm using visual studio) to my project so I can create a setup file for my program. 2- Use visual studio 'testing' add ons to test the program. I have no idea how to do it, but will teach myself. 3- When all is done, install the program on my wife's, parents and in-laws computer to further test it under different environments. 3- Setup a small Ltd. company. ( I might start this earlier as it might take a few weeks to complete). 4- Build / finish building a website (actually I started on this step a few weeks ago but haven't devoted enough time for it to complete yet). 5- Find a software / service to protect my program from piracy. I know it is impossible to protect the program from piracy. I understand that fully. But I still want to implement some sort of solution that wouldn't harm or deter honest customers. 6- Set up a business paypal account. 7- Find a software / service to handle payments on my website 8- Find a software / service to handle issuing license codes 9- Set up all of the above and go 'live'. However, I have zero experience in this sort of thing and would like your guidance on some points. 1- Is it necessary to setup a company? Can I sell as an individual? Will selling as an individual deter persons or companies from buying my software? 2- What is a decent choice for as a software / service to protect my program from my piracy. I have done a quick search and found something called Quick License Manager by Interactive Studios. Is this the sort of thing I am looking for? Is it any good? At which stage do I use or implement their service (or any similar service you might point me too? I guess I am really asking: how does this work? Would they give me a file I just add to my project, rebuild it and that's it? 3- What should I implement to handle payments online and how complicated is it? could you point me to any such services, please? 4- What should I implement to handle issuing license codes and how will that software / service coordinate with the software / service that handles the anti-piracy stuff? could you point me to such services, please? 5- In a different Stack Overflow question (by another user) someone suggested a cms system called Software Droid (http://www.softwaredroid.com). Is this what I am after. Will it help? 6- If the steps i'm following are incorrect in order or logic could you please advise me on what I should actually do? I guess these are question for those of you who have 'been there and done that'. So any guidance will be vary much appreciated. Many thanks in advance for your help.

• CloudFlare dashboards empty, or performance issues

  I wanted to test CloudFlare performance so I set my image gallery domain on it and started testing. I have added PageRules for caching. And chose the Security: Essentially Off. I checked NS check tools and they say that my domain name is propagated with CloudFlare. For testing purpose I created a link that loads 200 images from that server, and was using loads.in website to determine how much it is faster. After trying few regions, I noticed that there were no improvement in loading speed. So I looked up the dashboards, and it was empty. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, or made some error in my setup, or it takes few days to start caching or working properly, but at the moment - after a day of testing - dashboards are empty. Also the NS check tools sais that all name servers are propagated to CloudFlare and working fine. So I assume I got a bad performance because it is simply not working. I sent a letter to CloudFlare support team, but did not get any straight answer. So essentially my question is: Anyone has any experience with CloudFlare ? How long does it take for it to start caching static content to CDN ? Or there is simply something I am doing wrong ?

• VMWare converter performance

  Hello, I have a question about my test lab. It's more to understand the concept more than apply this into production: I have an ESXi with few VMs linux/windows configured and I'd like to use VMWare converter to create backups. To speedup the process I decided to create a Windows VM on the same ESXi host where I've installed Windows 7 and VMWare Converter. The Host has a gigabit card but it's currently connected to a 100Mb FD port. Windows 7 sees a 1gb card connected. When I do the backup using VMWare converter I specify the host IP as source and destination, so I thought the copy could be faster then use my laptop across the network. Well, to cut a long sotry short: I get dreadful performance (4Mb/sec). I'm a buit confused on this because despite the fact that the host is running 100Mb communication between VMs and hosts shouldn't (correct me if I'm wrong) have any limitation instead. I did tweak windows 7 to optimise network performane but I got just a little improvement. i still need 4 hours to back up a 50Gb (thin) VM. Additionally I wanted to ask: Would jumbo frame help in this? I know that jumbo frame have to be supported end to end, and the network switch where the host is currently connected doesn't support this, but I was wondering: 1) Does ESXi host support jumbo frames at all? 2) Can I enable it somehow? 3) If I do so, I guess bulk transfert between VMs and host would improve, but would this affect the communication going through the real switch as this doesn't do jumbo? • Using optimization to assign by preference

  I have 100 objects ("candies") that I need to distribute between five people so that each has an equal number of candies (in this case, 20 candies per person). However, each person has also expressed their preferences of candy to me in a chart, similar to below. Top-favored candies receive 10 points, least-favored candies receive -10 points, and neutral-favored candies receive 0.5 points. I need to sort the items out so that: Each person receives the same number of candies Each person's total "satisfaction" (points) is maximized My output is a list of each person's assigned items I'm familiar with Excel's in-house Monte Carlo simulation tools (Solver, F9 diceroll, etc) and would like to stick to those tools. While I know how to set up the chart, and how to use the column summation to input into Solver, I don't know how to get it to give me the desired output. Furthermore, how do I adjust the solver so it takes into account individual preferences rather than empirical ones? To wit: how do I begin setting up this model?

  Hey, what are the usage scenarios for these kinds of virtual hosting ? Name Based - typical tomcat virtual hosting, one HOME instance with many contexts, each as an individual host IP based / port based - multiple instances of tomcat ( how is it with performance and memory consuption?) running on IP aliases (virtual IPs) for one network adapter, usually behind http apache server that can run name based virtual hostings. Otherwise I can't figure out how would I forward requests in iptables/firewall based on IP address, which is just one. How is IP based virtual hosting done as to Tomcat and multiple instances ? I'd like to hear some usage scenarios from your experience. How are you running your applications. Cause there are applications having it's own modified classloader and they are developed in a way to run alone withing a tomcat instance. • IIS: redirect everything to another URL, except for one Directory

  I have an IIS server (IIS 6, Win 2003) that hosts the site http://www.foo.com. I want any request to http://foo.com (no matter what path/filename is used) to redirect to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html UNLESS the request is for http://www.foo.com/specialdir, in which case the HTML files in the local directory specialdir should be used. The problem I have is once the redirect is set it also affects /specialdir - even if I right click on that directory and select "content should come from ... local directory" that change does not take effect, and the directory still shows as redirecting to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html. The same thing happens if I try to set individual files to load from the local system instead of redirecting - IIS gives no error, but the change does not take effect and the files still show as being redirected. How can I set specialdir to override the redirection to the new URL?

  I set up a crontab in Cpanel to run every min. It's working great but I don't want an e-mail every min. I have a second cron tab that runs every day. I would like the responce of this tab. Is there a way to tell the crontab to be silent or only e-mail on error? I have: * * * * * php /home/public_html/folder/file.php 2>&1 The last bit 2>&1 I added because i thought it would make it silent. From the Cpanel Docs: You can have cron send an email everytime it runs a command. If you do not want an email to be sent for an individual cron job you can redirect the command's output to /dev/null like this: mycommand /dev/null 2&1

• Should I partition a 1TB Hard Disk whose primary use is media storage?

  I am going to get a 1TB hard disk. I will be storing 1080p or 720p movies, high-bitrate music and pictures in it. I use my PC 90% of the time only to play/listen/see those. I am running out of space in my current HD so I am getting another one. My specs are 2.7GHz Dual Core, 512MB GeForce 9400GT, 2GB DDR2 RAM and all the proper matroska codecs/players. I guess that is enough to play 1080p movies withough a glitch, given an ideal hard disk. I've read about proper partitioning giving performance improvement etc.. I don't want my hard disk to be the bottleneck. Can someone tell me whether I should partition my 1TB hard disk into many drives? If I should, what is the ideal size of each partition? Smooth playing of movies is very important to me. Once I start filling up the disk, there is no turning back. So I want to get it right before I start. Thanks.

• Hosting 3 domains on 3 PC (1 domain per PC) with only 1 static IP address

  Hey all i am trying to figure this out here. I have 3 PC's that are hooked into my router which i have a static IP for. I am currently hosting a web site (ex: blah1.com) on the 1st PC but have yet to connect PC 2 and 3 up to the network. That one PC thats online is using port 77. I direct all 80 traffic to port 77 using that servers IP address (192.168.x.xxx) My question is, how can i direct traffic for my other 2 domains (ex: blah2.com and blah3.com) to the 2 individual PC's (ip's) as i already am doing with the 1st PC if i can only use one port 80 to direct taffic to the website in?

  My team has a need to publish documentation internally. At the moment, it's spread all over the place and this means we often have to search everywhere to find something. We'd like to publish everything in one place. The main thing that stops us is access control - the wikis in place don't belong to us and we can't do it. What is the best tool for publishing docs, ideally fitting these requirements: web front end - readers access docs using browser single place to put docs access control by individual doc or by sets of docs (folders, branch of 'site', ...) if you don't have access to a doc, you don't see the link to that page/doc/folder. either built-in editor or something my users are familiar with (e.g. Word) built-in version control would be nice Also, can you think of other criteria I should've specified?

• Can I find the session ID for a user logged on to another machine?

  I want to open an application on another computer on the same network via the command line. The scenario here is that the user is in a room surrounded by about 20 computers and wants to be able to launch the same app on every computer without walking from screen to screen opening it up on each individual machine. I've discovered that I can get the basic functionality for this using PsExec as follows: psexec \\[computer] -u [username] -p [password] -d -i [SessionID] [program] For computer, username, password, and program, I'm good. Does anyone know of a way I can figure out which SessionID is assigned to a particular user logged on to a particular machine on the network? Alternately, is there a better way to go about what I'm trying to accomplish?

  Quick background: We have 40 workstations running Linux. NFS is used extensively for bulk data storage and home directories. This allows users to roam freely will relatively transparent file systems. This is an educational environment where postdocs and students have successfully pulled off a coup of sorts. All have gained root on their individual workstations by grooming a technophobic PI who thinks IT people are evil. If I so much as suggest chroot or sudo restrictions, I'll find myself working out of a broom closet. Then we want to make cnames instead of delegating individual sub-domains, e.g. myapp.example.com CNAME prod.wip.example.com Microsoft DNS gives an error when I attempt to make the CNAME... dnscmd ns1 /recordadd example.com myapp CNAME myapp.prod.wip.example.com. Command failed: DNS_ERROR_NOT_ALLOWED_UNDER_DELEGATION 9563 (0000255b) The error makes perfect sense, but does anyone know of a way around it? Or are my NS records incorrect for this setup? • Mod_rewrite not working on ISPConfig 3 Server

  Problem I recently migrated a Drupal site from a shared hosting server to my own VM. Everything appears to work correctly, except clean urls. My VM Setup Ubuntu 10.04 LAMP ISPConfig 3 What I've tried From reading up on a number of drupal forums I've tried the following in this order Check that mod_rewrite is installed and enabled Changed PHP from FastCGI to Mod_PHP (prefer to use FastCGI or suPHP though to avoid having tmp/files folders with 777 permissions) Changed the Redirect type to L in ISPConfig Sites-domain.com-Redirect Changed /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default <Directory /var/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride All ... </Directory> Not sure about points 3 and 4, I do want all domains to be able to use mod_rewrite out of the box. Question Have I done something wrong or am I missing a step? Ultimately I would like to use FastCGI and clean urls working on all ISPConfig 3 domains without having to make any changes to individual domain settings. Any ideas appreciated, I'll try them all.

  I've been working with OpenSolaris and ZFS for 6 months, primarily on a Sun Fire x4540 and standard Dell and HP hardware. One downside to standard Perc and HP Smart Array controllers is that they do not have a true "passthrough" JBOD mode to present individual disks to ZFS. One can configure multiple RAID 0 arrays and get them working in ZFS, but it impacts hotswap capabilities (thus requiring a reboot upon disk failure/replacement). I'm curious as to what SAS/SATA controllers are recommended for home-brewed ZFS JBODs. In addition, how does battery-backed write cache (BBWC) play into the solution?

• Temp files created in every folder in Windows Server 2003

  So we have some folders which are shared over the AD Domain (Windows Server 2003). It was just noticed that in 2 of those folders (which contain only Excel and Word files), whenever a file is opened and closed, the temp file which was opened corresponding to that file still remains. Apparently, this's been going on for the past couple of years (which has led to an insane amount of temp files in each folder/subfolder under those shared folders). These shared folders are under the D:drive and not C: drive. There is only one group (containing 2 users) who access the said folders. I cannot understand if this has to do with the settings/permissions for the User/Group/Individual Client machine. For now, I have manually deleted all the temp files from each folder/subfolder. While this is not critical at the moment, I'd still like to clear this up. Also, it takes an additional fraction of a second to open folders that contains more than 10,000 temp files. • decrypting AES files in an apache module?

  I have a client with a security policy compliance requirement to encrypt certain files on disk. The obvious way to do this is with Device-mapper and an AES crypto module However the current system is setup to generate individual files that are encrypted. What are my options for decrypting files on-the-fly in apache? I see that mod_ssl and mod_session_crypto do encryption/decryption or something similar but not exactly what I am after. I could imagine that a PerlSetOutputFilter would work with a suitable Perl script configured, and I also see mod_ext_filter so I could just fork a unix command and decrypt the file, but they both feel like a hack. I am kind of surprised that there is no mod_crypto available...or am I missing something obvious here? Presumably resource-wise the perl filter is the way to go?

• RemoteApp: Logging in as user x disconnects user y

  I'm having a pretty bizarre problem with a Terminal Services server used for RemoteApp. In our network the server works as it should, but at a client's office if two users log in simultaneously, the first one gets disconnected as the other one connects. The users belong to the same group but have individual users. The similar configuration works fine for all other clients. About the server, it's Windows 2008 R2 x64, no AD, SSL encrypted connections. Event viewer shows no useful information. Any hints where to start debugging? Do you need more info about the setup?

• Upgrading OpenSSL in CentOS 5.3

  I want to use one IP to host many domains with individual SSL certificates (requires SNI). In CentOS 5.3, the latest version of OpenSSL I can find an RPM for is 0.9.8e, which does not support SNI. I want to upgrade to 0.9.8k but I can't find an RPM. I could compile from source, but if I try to remove the existing OpenSSL package through yum, it wants me to remove all packages that depend on OpenSSL (100+ packages). EDIT: I ended up installing 0.9.8k without overwriting the previous version. Now I both avoid breaking dependencies and can use SNI. Was this the best action?

• Configure all hosts, then create a list of the config for all hosts?

  I deployed a huge number of hosts with Ansible - which did work very nice. Each host got its individual settings and configuration. Now I'd like to generate a config file for another system that uses these hosts. For it, I need for every host a part of the generated configuration (the one that configures the database). Here is an example of the situation with two hosts having different configuration and the other system that uses a part of the Ansible-generated configuration: host1 ansible configured dbA host2 ansible configured dbQ The other system: host1 = dbA host2 = dbQ The values are computed differently (dbQ instead of dbB for host2 for example) if it belongs in a different cluster and so on, making it unpractical to just read out host configuration from the host_vars. I believe I would need to iterate over the hosts and let Ansible figure out the computed values for the variables like it would when deploying, but I do not know how to put that result in one template. Please advise :)

• VirtualBox won't use any kind of hardware acceleration

  I see an problem with VirtualBox hardware acceleration functionality... My system configuration: MSI PH67A-C43 (B3) (BIOS: 2.70) Intel Core i5-2400 Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit Oracle VirtualBox 4.1.10 Oracle VirtualBox Extension Pack 4.1.10 I can select the individual acceleration options such as PAE/NX, VT-x/VMD-V or Nested Paging within VM-Settings but if I start the VM the accelerations will be disabled as of the tooltip from CPU (right next to shared folders). Each acceleration is "Disabled". Does this sounds familar to anybody? How can I solve this?

• Refering to a Cell in a Different Workbook

  I work between different spreadsheets, and I like to have one main workbook that links to certain cells in other workbooks. For example, I will do a statement of business activities workbook that has all the business expenses listed, and then I will have individual workbooks for each expense account. In the old excel, I would just put =(and then go to the workbook that i wanted, and then select the cell i wanted and then hit enter) and it would put the amount from that specific cell in my statement of business activities. When I try to do that in excel 2010, I put the equals sign in the cell, and then go to the other workbook and find the cell I want, and when I hit enter, it just moves down a line and nothing happens in the other workbook. How can I get this to work again, what do i need to do??

• How do I configure pfsense as an outbound VPN client?

  We use pfsense as a router/firewall. Because we're based in China, it is useful for us to have VPN access for all our internal clients. Instead of each individual client connecting to a VPN server stateside, I'd like to configure pfsense as a VPN client and have all the network traffic be routed through it. Most of the posts I've seen regarding pfsense and VPN are concerning connecting to the LAN from outside; this is not what I want to do. Another option would be for an SSH tunnel to be initiated on the pfsense box with the LAN traffic routed through it. How do I configure pfsense to be able to do either of these? One huge caveat is that OpenVPN cannot be used. The solution I am looking for needs to use one of the other VPN protocols.
