    im sure you guys must have seen the shift happens video series. here's a link to them : http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=shift+happens&search_type=&aq=f also, the recent hungry beast video about google, which can be found here: (SO doesnt allow new users more than one hyperlink, so please search on youtube for this one) what i'd like to ask you guys is this: is there a program that enables such videos to be made quickly or is it really just the creative genius of the respective authors? i think vidoes like these are extremely useful when you want to make an impact and would find many uses for such a program in my line of work. im hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. ps. i DO know of animoto, so please dont suggest that :P the problem with animoto is that it doesnt allow text manipulation like these videos. to be fair, that is a great product in itself, but im sure if you take a look, you'll see the difference that im talking abuot.

    Hi, I'd like to get some opinions about about usability in the following case: Target group people from 30-50, low to middle internet affinity. App: I have a website with login. Visitors can save interesseting pages in their fav-box for fast access. Here the actual question: How to edit this favorites? Is it better to give the visitors direct access to drag/dropn and delete their favs or is it better to have an edit button so they have to activate the edit mode before?     I need to plot a normal distribution and then shade some specific region of it. Right now I'm doing this by creating a plot of the distribution and overlaying it with a RegionPlot. This is pretty convoluted and I'm certain there must be a more elegant way of doing it. I Googled, looked at the docs, found nothing. Help me SO! I guess Mathematica counts as programming? :D

  • Korn shell wraparound

    Okay, I'm sure this is simple but it is driving me nuts. I recently went to work on a program where I've had to step back in time a bit and use Redhat 9. When I'm typing on the command line from a standard xterm running Korn shell, when I reach the end of the line the screen slides to the right (cutting off the left side of my command) instead of wrapping the text around to a new line. This makes things difficult for me because I can't easily copy and paste from the previous command straight from the command line. I have to look at the history and paste the command from there. In case you're wondering, I do a lot of command-line awk scripts that cause the line to get quite long. Is there a way to force the command line to wrap instead of shifting visibility to the right side of the command I'm typing? I've poured through man page options with no luck. I'm running XFree86 4.2.99.903(174) and KSH 5.2.14. Thanks.

So just want to prepend that file before each docType declaration. However the DOCTYPE declaration is never on line 1, as there is loads of php lines before.   • How do I configure emacs for editing HTML files that contain Javascript?

    I have started the painful first steps of using emacs to edit an HTML file with both HTML tags and javascript content. I have installed nxhtml and tried using it - i.e set up to use nxhtml-mumamo-mode for .html files. But I am not loving it. When I am editing the Javascript portion of the code the tab indents do not behave as they do when editing C/C++ code. It starts putting tabs within the line and if you try and hit tab in the white space preceding a line it inserts the tab rather than re-tabifying the line. Another aspect that I don't like is that it doesn't do syntax colouring like the usual C/C++ modes do. I much prefer the behaviour of the default java-mode when editing HTML files but that doesn't play nicely with the HTML code. :-( 1) Is there a better mode for editing HTML files with Javascript portions? 2) Is there a way to get nxhtml to use the default java-mode for the javascript portions?     It's a simple deal: I'm sometimes in places where I don't have my laptop, and find myself with spare time and an idea for a project. But unfortunately, I can't do anything about it. I tried a variety of solutions, which include running IDEs (like phpstorm or Aptana) on a disc-on-key or cd (very slow and unappealing), trying several online solutions (like http://phpanywhere.net) and found that all of them are either buggy, overloaded or underloaded with features, just difficult to use, require FTP etc etc. All that is required here is a syntax highlighting and debugging alerts; no actual running of code. So the question is split into two: 1)Do you know of a good online php editor that you've used and enjoyed? 2)If no, then how would you go about making one? The second one seems a bit general, so I'll try and expand...It might be a good idea; if you can't find one, make one. The question is about the concept of making a syntax highlighter (shouldn't be too difficult), and the difficult part of catching php errors WITHOUT executing any php code. Thank you in advance.

    Hello, I have requirement of selecting a portion of UIImage displayed on iPhone screen (for e.g. selecting the face from the image of some human being) using some rectangular type of frame. It means a rectangular type of frame can be moved across the image to place it at portion that we want. After placing it, I need to resize the frame in order to have that portion completely fit in the frame. Finally, the UIImage should be cropped so that I have a UIImage only displaying the portion that I selected using the frame. Please help me. Regards, Pratik

  • Slickgrid, confirm before edit

    I am making a slick grid and need the ability to add rows with a code column. For this to be possible the code column needs to be editable for the entire table. I am trying to work out a way that I can confirm the edit with a standard javascript confirm popup box. I tried putting one into the onedit event within the slickgrid constructor and that executed after the edit. I am led to believe that the edit function is independent from calling the edit stored procedure of the database. Is there a better way to go about this? Desired output: I want a list of elements, where each element is: x-coordinate y-coordinate font_name character_id Basically, I want to take a LaTeX file, r"render it", but instead of printing it / getting an image, I want it to say "okay, you have a Sigma symbol here, then you have a 'x' symbol there, ...) I know that a normal ODF document is an archive containing XML-files. But before I reinvent the wheel: is there any library which does most of the tasks?
