• ASP.Net WebSite Membership AND C# Windows Form Membership

  This is not real, it's just a project i'm working on I've created a Hotel Management system in C# WindowsForm, it allows staff members to Add/Edit/Update Rooms,Reservation and Customers etc. Along side this Windows-form i'm creating an ASP.net WebSite where customers should be able to register and reserve rooms online. I've come to the point where i need to create some-type of membership method for this website which should correspond to the membership of the windows form. However i'm not sure what method of membership would be best suited for this, i have looked into the asp.net membership, it's what i want however it creates it's own schema and i don't know how i can relate the information to my customers table and c#windows form. I would ideally like it to resemble a real-life situation as much as possible anyway, am i going about this the wrong way? in terms of the c# windows-form what other technology would a business use to manage a system like this where they can add/edit/update there system and have a website which relates. What are my options here?

• Correct structure and way of website versioning

  Recently I use GIT to version my website. It makes it all really easy to see how my project develops and I always have save backups on different places on the web. Now my main question is if it is recommended to version your whole root of the website. I have a basic structure that looks something like this: /httpdocs /config /media /application index.php .htaccess 1) Should I use the /httpdocs folder to version, or should I use the content of the folder. 2) Is it recommended to version the media folder. In the media version I have several images for the overall layout, and some other images for the website. These imagas can be quite large. I work on these images from time to time and so they change. I hardly never need the old image again, so is this not just taking up precious storage space. I would highly appreciate just some basic recommendation on this topic.

• REST client website login

  I have written a REST service that uses WSSE as an authentication method but i want to be able to use this rest service through a browser by creating a website around the service. I want the user to be able to log in on the website then when they view, for example the "view users" page an ajax request is made to test.com/users and back comes the list. The part i'm trying to get my head around is the logging in/out on the website and keeping the user logged in across pages. Since in a true REST implementation there's no state held on the server, i can't use $_SESSION and now i don't know where to start! What is the best way to go about this? Do i still need to store session information on the server then possibly use cURL to make the request? Thanks Jay

  Hi, I need to know what can be the main reasons (apart from the basics like grouping CSS selectors, reducing image size, using image sprite etc.) which makes a website slow on Internet Explorer, because my website works fine on the others like FF, chrome etc. Is it the huge use of Javascript framework (ie. jQuery, extjs, prototype)? Is it because of the use of plugins based on JS framework? Should I use core javascript and remove the use of any js framework? Should I try to avoid using jQuery(document).ready()? in case of jQuery framework? Above some of the questions which I know and please answer the questions which I couldn't ask because of lesser knowledge about these. I need to make my website perform well on IE (6,7,8) also please suggest. Thanks

• Character encoding problem in my website.

  I own a website that was recently moved to a different server, now I can see some weird characters. Initially the website was coded with UTF-8 encoding. The weird characters disappears if I change the View Character encoding to Western(8859-1) in my browser. Therefore, I changed the source of the website to use this Western one, but still I can see the weird characters and they doesn't seem to disappear. Can anyone help me with this. Thanks in advance.

• Deploy PHP website to client server without showing PHP files

  I asked a recent question regarding the use of readfile() for remotely executing PHP, but maybe I'd be better off setting out the problem to see if I'm thinking the wrong way about things, so here goes: I have a PHP website that requires users to login, includes lots of forms, database connections and makes use of $_SESSION variables to keep track of various things I have a potential client who would like to use the functionality of my website, but on their own server, controlled by them. They would probably want to restyle the website using content and CSS files local to their server, but that's a problem for later I don't want to show them my PHP code, since that's the value of what I'd be providing. I had thought to do this with calls to include() from the client's server to mine, which at least keeps variable scope intact, but many sites (and the PHP docs) seem to recommend readfile(), file_get_contents() or similar. Ideally I'd like to have a simple wrapper file on the client's server for each "real" one on my server. Any suggestions as to how I might accomplish what I need? Thanks, ColmF

  Hi, I have a website .. [SPAM LINK REMOVED]. When you see pages like [SPAM LINK REMOVED] and [SPAM LINK REMOVED]. These pages load a bit slowly in FF. Please see if the speed is reasonable or speed needs to improve and in IE 6 it takes ages to load the website. Please let me know what all should i do to increase the performance of website. I tried all the options given by firebug. But nothing much helped. If any1 can let me know where all i should take care to increase the performance it will be very helpful.

• Python: Problems finding string in website source code

  I open a website with urlopen. I then put the website sourcecode into a variable like so source = website.read() When I just print the source it comes out formatted correctly, however when I try to iterate through each line each character is it's own line. for example when I just print it looks like this <HTML> title</html> When I do this for line in source: print line it looks like this < H T M L ... etc I need to find a string that starts with "var" and then print that entire line.

• Azure Website Blocking Cloudflare IPs

  I've been using CloudFlare with my azure web sites for a couple months. Yesterday my website started showing http 520 errors. After contacting CloudFlare support, it seems that Azure may be blocking the CloudFlare IPs (https://www.cloudflare.com/ips). I am able to connect to my site directly using the azurewebsites.net domain name but anything mapped via CloudFlare results in the 520 error. There's nothing in the azure error logs but the CloudFlare error logs seem to indicate that Azure is blocking the CloudFlare IPs. Anyone know the process of getting IPs whitelisted for Azure sites?

  I am running IIS 7 on Windows Server 2008. I have two websites: www.website01.com www.website02.com I have an SSL Certificate for each website. When I access a secured page on www.website02.com I get the error: www.website02.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for www.website01.com. (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain) I have googled this error and I understand that it is caused by the fact that I have bound both sites to the same IP Address / Port No. (443).   I would like to know whether there will be problem for shared hosting/vps/dedicated users if they request content via remote mysql or via http API. ? What will be issues if they make every request to production server for delivery of the website articles along with image urls etc. Will it cause disk wait on shared/vps/dedicated hosting users ?   Hi all, I have a question about using a web site host in my computer, say Computer A, using any web server hosting application e.g : apache. I connect to my website in my very same computer A, and request to download a file of size 1Mb, in otherwords, I am connecting to my own computer and want to download a file in my computer. In addition, my internet access is bound by a proxy server in a way of gateway. The questions are - does the file transfer really exist? Or is it a local file copying between 2 location? Will my data packet go through the proxy, to the internet, and go back to the proxy and return to me? Thanks everyone who are watching this question.

I was recently attacked with JS:Illredir-S [Trj], I asked my hosting providers to clean it and they cleaned it and updated all passwords, but now after a week my site got infected again with JS:ScriptIP-inf [Trj]. Can anyone please suggest me how to secure my website properly ? Should I change my hosting provider ? I am fed up of these viruses again and again on my websites. • Setup asp.net mvc application as subdomain website

  I'm trying to setup a local application on a subdomain on our company server. There is already an installation of sharepoint running on http://companyweb/, but I would like my application to run on http://orders.companyweb/. I tried creating a new website, leaving the IP address the same as it is for http://companyweb, and just changing the host header value to orders.companyweb. However, no matter where I try to access the site from (different computers around the network, including the server itself), I keep getting 404 errors. I then tried setting up a simple index.html and serving that up as the highest priority; however, I still got 404 errors. This makes me think that I have actually setup the site itself wrong. What should I change to be able to access this application correctly on all the local computers?

  Hi, I'm looking for some kind of the door/system that would allow us to install a door lock with a keypad. When somebody goes to that door they would enter a number that would open the door. The twist is that we need to be able to change the key combination that opens the door from a website.   I have lots of different websites in a Development directory in my home dir. While developing, files get saved under my username but websites configured under apache it's permission need to be set as _www user and group. What's the best way to handle this? Do I run apache under a different user/group? Do I run my development tools under a different user? Do add myself to the _www group? (seems like it doesn't work btw) I've just switched to a mac and I'm trying to find a smooth development workflow, so it would be best if i could just run the necessary tools, save some files and be able to test the website without much hassle.   Hello, When choosing software or hardware I often Wikipedia's comparision pages like the page on Comparison of project management software. However, criteria on including items on such lists are sometimes unclear (f.e. project has to be "notable", has to have a Wikipedia page), and the number of compared features are limited. Also, Wikipedia's software doesn't make it easy to edit such lists. I am looking for an external webapp/website that would do the task of comparing different solutions in the world of software, hardware, maybe even electronics, in this kind of social way. Is there any kind of such service? It should allow users to add new entries, add new features to compare and discuss items in a collaborative way. It should be also easy to browse already entered items, filter by features. (this might be a good idea for a startup ;-))

If the server finds that the site is down, what is the next step? Would it make a REST API request to a separate server to run the same test and report the results? • ASP.NET Website not responding

  Hello everybody I am setting with my server tech, trying to figure out what is going on here. When I try to access my site through a browser, my site hangs indefinately. It does not respond with anything, not even after 15 minutes! The application pool has been restarted, the website has been restarted. Doesn't helpt at all. It happened during an upload. A backup has been loaded and the problem is still the same It is a very urgent matter, I hope someone can help me! I think we are on a IIS 6 on a Windows 2003 Server. (Remote hosted, with a tech, who has no idea what the issue is as well, so I am trying to find the solution alogn with him). Any suggestions are VERY appriciated.
