    I'm planning to create a news item which uses xml as it's backend and the Display should be like: Date: 08/Mar/2010 Title | News News 4 | Some news News 3 | Some news News 2 | Some news News 1 | Some news Date: 07/Mar/2010 Title | News News 5 | Some news News 4 | Some news News 3 | Some news News 2 | Some news News 1 | Some news Display should be sorted on Date (descending) Then news items should be sorted on time (descending) Today's news item should be on top, then titles should be sorted-decending (timewise), later will come previous day's news items. I'm not able to come up with the logic of xml which should be used in this case. moreover I'm not able to figure out how should I check "Today's date" in xml's "if" statement. ---- Previous Question ------------------------------------------------------------------ How can I export a data from textBox1, textBox2 & textBox3 on my winform (visual studio C#) so that it can automatically create an xml file with proper placing of these data???? Let's say: textBox1 = Name: textBox2 = Age: textBox3 = Roll No It would be great if the exported xml can be appended (add the new data in the EOF) if we export the data again. Any idea plz.....

  • Opening email attachments in Android

    I try to open a specific email attachment type with my activity, the attachment itself is a plain text windows style ini file with the extension *.os. In the email this file is attached as "application/octet-stream".   • Vaadin table hide columns and container customization

    Hello I am testing a project, using Vaadin and Hibernate. I am trying to use the HbnContainer class to show data into table. The problem is that I do not want to show all the properties of the two classes in the table. For example: @Entity @Table(name="users") class User { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; private String name; @ManyToOne(cascade=CascadeType.PERSIST) private UserRole role; //getters and setters } and a second class: @Entity @Table(name="user_roles") class UserRole { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; private String name; //getters and setters } Next, I retrieve my data using the HbnContainer, and connect it to the table: HbnContainer container = new HbnContainer(User.class, app); table.setContainerDataSource(container); The Table will only display the columns from User, and for the "role" it will put the role id instead. How can I hide that column, and replace it with the UserRole.name ? I managed to use a ColumnGenerator() to get the string value in the table, for the UserRole - but I couldn't remove the previous column, with the numerical value. What am I missing? Or, what is the best way to "customize" your data, before displaying a table (if i want to show data in a table from more than one object type.. what do I do?) If I can't find a simple solution soon, I think I will just build the tables "by hand".. So, any advice on this matter? Thank you, Alex

  • How to populate a generic list of objects in C# from SQL database

    I am just learning ASP.NET c# and trying to incorporate best practices into my applications. Everything that I read says to layer my applications into DAL, BLL, UI, etc based on separation of concerns. Instead of passing datatables around, I am thinking about using custom objects so that I am loosely coupled to my data layer and can take advantage of intellisense in VS. I assume these objects would be considered DTOs? First, where do these objects reside in my layers? BLL, DAL, other? Second, when populating from SQL, should I loop through a data reader to populate the list or first fill a data table, then loop through the table to populate the list? I know you should close the database connection as soon as possible, but it seems like even more overhead to populate the data table and then loop through that for the list. Third, everything I see these days says use Linq2SQL. I am planning to learn Linq2SQL, but at this time I am working with a legacy database that doesn't have foreign keys setup and I do not have the ability to fix it atm. Also, I want to learn more about c# before I start getting into ORM solutions like nHibernate. At the same time I don't want to type out all the connection and SQL plumbing for every query. Is it ok to use the Enterprise DAAB for now?

  • how does scrolling in android listview work?

    hi, i have an android-app with a listview in an activity. the listview has, if i call it so, three data states. no data loaded from inet - only one dummy item is visible, saying that data is loading data is loaded and shown in list one listitem is clicked and now shows more information for this listitem (so it is increased in its height) on every state change (1 - 2, 2 - 3) i call notifyDataSetChanged() on this ListAdapater. this causes the listview to scroll down to the last item. this is ugly in the first transition and even more ugly in the second because the clicked list item is now out of focus. as i can see, this happens with a google g1 with android 1.6. a htc touch with the same sdk acts like desired (i try to figure it out with some more devices). to avoid this i tried to read out getScrollY() and set this value back. but this returns 0. the reason for this return value i already found on stackoverflow in other qutestions. does anyone else comes along with my problem so far? why does the listview scrolls to the last item? it was mentioned, that listview does keep track on the scroll position. but it seems that it does not in my case. or may i call the wrong refresh method? is notifyDataSetChanged the correct one?

    I'm using DataAnnotations attributes to validate my model objects. My model class looks similar to this: public class MyModel { [Required] public string Title { get; set; } [Required] public List<User> Editors { get; set; } } public class User { public int Id { get; set; } [Required] public string FullName { get; set; } [Required] [DataType(DataType.Email)] public string Email { get; set; } } My controller action looks like: public ActionResult NewItem(MyModel data) { //... } User is presented with a view that has a form with: a text box with dummy name where users enter user's names. For each user they enter, there's a client script coupled with ajax that creates an <input type="hidden" name="data.Editors[0].Id" value="userId" /> for each user entered (enumeration index is therefore not always 0 as written here), so default model binder is able to consume and bind the form without any problems. a text box where users enter the title Since I'm using Asp.net MVC 2 RTM which does model validation instead of input validation I don't know how to avoid validation errors. The thing is I have to use BindAttribute on my controller action. I would have to either provide a white or a black list of properties. It's always a better practice to provide a white list. It's also more future proof. The problem My form works fine, but I get validation errors about user's FullName and Email properties since they are not provided. I also shouldn't feed them to the client (via ajax when user enters user data), because email is personal contact data and is not shared between users. If there was just a single user reference on MyModel I would write [Bind(Include = "Title, Editor.Id")] But I have an enumeration of them. How do I provide Bind white list to work with my model?

    I am a graduate student with many scripts, bibliography data in bibtex, thesis draft in latex, presentations in open office, posters in scribus, and figures and result data. I would like to put everything in one project under version control. Then when I need to work on a portion such as the bibliography data, I would like to check that subdirectory out, modify it as necessary and merge it back.I would like the ability to check out one version to my home computer, and a different one to my work computer and make changes to each independently and eventually merge them back. I would also like to be able to check out a piece of code from this big project and import it with versioning into a separate project. If I may changes I'd like to be able to merge them back to the original project.   • SSRS for Sharepoint, Images in a report from a Sharepoint List URL?

    Greetings Sabios, I have several reports I run successfully where the data comes from a Sharepoint list in the form of an XML dataset. I am however having trouble with one. I have a report that pulls an image file onto the main body of the report. This data too comes from a Sharepoint list in the form of an XML dataset which sends me the URL to the jpeg or bmp or gif... whatever the case may be. I can successfully pull this off in my own Visual Studio IDE. My Local Report Server will render it as well It won't run on my Sharepoint Report Server (My MOSS runs through https while my Shartpoint Report Server is http might this matter?) When I upload it to Sharepoint and run it through the Sharepoint Report Server, I get back EVERYTHING in the report Header and Footer (dataset text and embedded Images) but just a big RED X where the Main Image should be. I have done everything the boards say: A. I made sure the Unattended Execution Account is running on the Reports Server B. I have insured the URL comes back in clean format (else the images wouldn't render locally either and they do) The report logs throw this exception: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ContainerTypeNotSupportedException: The target location you specified is not supported by the report server. Is there a way to have inline forms functionality with crispy-forms/bootstrap like django-admin forms have? On the sreenshot below you are able to fill out data for 'Question' object and below that you are able to add data for QuestionOption objects -you are able to click the '+' icon to add as many QuestionOptions as you want. I'm not looking for a way to get the forms auto-generated from models (that's nice but not the most important) - is there a way to construct a form that will let you add 'rows' of data like django-admin does?

    Although the HTTP spec says that headers are case insensitive; Paypal, with their new adaptive payments API require their headers to be case-sensitive. Using the paypal adaptive payments extension for ActiveMerchant (http://github.com/lamp/paypal_adaptive_gateway) it seems that although the headers are set in all caps, they are sent in mixed case.   • iPhone/iPod receive messages from C# tcpip server using CocoaAsyncSocket

    Hello, i'm trying to send/receive data over wifi to an iphone/ipodtouch app from a C# tcpip server. for this i used cocoaAsyncSocket from the google project. If i push a button and i send a request from ipod to server it returns the requested data(song title for example)..i want to know every second what song is playng...so from C# server i send at intervals of 1 second messages to my app. In my app in an timer with the interval of 1 second i call the asyncSocket read readDataWithTimeout method. My problem is that after 8-9 seconds that method is not called anymore. The connection to the server is still active and the C# server still sends data.. what i want to do is the following thing: - winamp plays a song - C# server asks winamp what songs is he playing and sends the song title to my app. - iphone app receives the data and displays it i don't know why the readDataWithTimeout method is not called anymore after a short period of time..Maybe because the short time between messages sent by the C# server?   • Logging in worker threads spawned from a pylons application does not seem to work

    I have a pylons application where, under certain cirumstances I want to spawn multiple worker threads to process items in a queue. Right now we aren't making use of a ThreadPool (would be ideal, but we'll add that in later). The main problem is that the worker threads logging does not get written to the log files. When I run the code outside of the pylons application the logging works fine. So I think its something to do with the pylons log handler but not sure what.   • "Best" language /architecture for browser-based app with ODBC and sockets? (subjective)

    Sorry to ask a subjective question, but I would welcome some advice. I am an experienced programmer of embedded s/w, but haven't done much network programming, although I have done a fair bit of hobbyist PHP. Am I right? Then client is insisting on MSIE - unless I can show compelling technical reasons for FireFox or other then it will have to be MSIE (are there any compelling technical reasons?). So, with MIE (almost) a given, I had though to use PHP, since I know it, but the client seems awfully keen on Java (which ought to be OK since I am conversant with C++) it woudl seem to make sense to use the same language for the "upper" interface between the web pages (which that app generates) and the d/b, and for the "lower" interface between the d/b and the socket. (a single language means a single set of tools since text approach, etc) So, the (probably highly subjective) question is "which language shoudl I choose". As I say, the client is keen on Java. Any compelling reason why not? Is it generally a good choice for the sort of thing described here? Any other hints & tips gratefully appreciated (and up-voted): URLs, books, tool chain suggestions, etc, etc

    So I'm fetching a JSON string from a php script in my iPhone app using: NSURL *baseURL = [NSURL URLWithString:@"test.php"]; NSError *encodeError = [[NSError alloc] init]; NSString *jsonString = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:baseURL encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&encodeError]; NSLog(@"Error: %@", [encodeError localizedDescription]); NSLog(@"STRING: %@", jsonString); The JSON string validates when I test the output. Now I'm having an encoding issue. When I fetch a single echo'd line such as: { "testKey":"é" } (I'm aware I could\should be using NSUrlConnection for asynchronous fetching of data, but at this point in the app development, I don't really need it.) The JSON parser works fine and I am able to create a valid JSON object. However, when I fetch my 2MB JSON string, I get presented with: Error: Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 261.) and a Null string. My PHP file is UTF8 itself and I am not using utf8_encode() because that seems to double encode the data since I'm already pulling the data as NSUTF8StringEncoding. Either way, in my single-echo test, it's the approach that allowed me to successfully log \ASDAS style UTF8 escapes when building the JSON object. What could be causing the error in the case of the larger string? Also, I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm using the php function addslashes() on my parsed php data to account for quotes and such when building the JSON string.

    I want to remove rectangles etc that enclose text in a screenshot image, so that I can perform optical character recognition to get accurate text from the screenshot. Background: I doing this to extract data from a legacy application for use with other applications. This is the only way to get at this data as associated files are in a closed, proprietary, binary format. I will be using AutoItScript to drive the application to show data in its UI, then I will screenshot this and feed this to tesseract. I've already had some success in automating the UI, and have been able to use tesseract to get plain ascii text out of the bitmap. There are several AutoItScripr forum articles discussing its use with tesseract/OCR but not specifically for my question. http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.php?s=6c32c3ece12756e635a619cdf175eff9&showforum=2 What I need to do There are thin, 1-pixel wide rectangles that closely enclose some text, when fed to tesseract, it sees them as I for example for a verticle line of the rectangle. Any thoughts on how to remove the rectangles, or best practices? I'm asking if there is a generic command line based toolset to overwrite rectangles, for example, in .png files. I could then pass the .png through this, then pass it to tesseract. I'm filling the first Textbox myself, the user has to fill in the value, from and until. I've created a blank C++ metro app and I've just added a model that I will bind to in my UI however I'm getting a range of compiler warnings related to xamltypeinfo.g.cpp and I'm not sure what I've missed. My header file looks like this: #pragma once #include "pch.h" #include "MyColor.h" using namespace Platform; namespace CppDataBinding { [Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::Bindable] public ref class MyColor sealed : Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::INotifyPropertyChanged { public: MyColor(); ~MyColor(); virtual event Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::PropertyChangedEventHandler^ PropertyChanged; property Platform::String^ RedValue { Platform::String^ get() { return _redValue; } void set(Platform::String^ value) { _redValue = value; RaisePropertyChanged("RedValue"); } } protected: void RaisePropertyChanged(Platform::String^ name); private: Platform::String^ _redValue; }; } and my cpp file looks like this: #include "pch.h" #include "MyColor.h" using namespace CppDataBinding; MyColor::MyColor() { } MyColor::~MyColor() { } void MyColor::RaisePropertyChanged(Platform::String^ name) { if (PropertyChanged != nullptr) { PropertyChanged(this, ref new Windows::UI::Xaml::Data::PropertyChangedEventArgs(name)); } } Nothing too tricky, but when I compile I get errors in xamltypeinfo.g.cpp indicating that MyColor is not defined in CppDataBinding. The relevant generated code looks like this: if (typeName == "CppDataBinding.MyColor") { userType = ref new XamlUserType(this, typeName, GetXamlTypeByName("Object")); userType->Activator = ref new XamlTypeInfo::InfoProvider::Activator( []() -> Platform::Object^ { return ref new CppDataBinding::MyColor(); }); userType->AddMemberName("RedValue", "CppDataBinding.MyColor.RedValue"); userType->SetIsBindable(); xamlType = userType; } If I remove the Bindable attribute from MyColor the code compiles. Can someone tell me what blindingly obvious thing I've missed so I can give myself a facepalm and fix the problem?

    Hello, At moment I want to implement picture upload without using any plug-ins. My upload form looks like this <form action="/Member/UploadPicture" enctype="multipart/form-data" id="uploadform" method="post"> <span style="display: none;"> <div class="upload" id="imgUpl"> <h3>Upload profile picture</h3> <div class="clear5"></div> <input type="file" name="file" id="file" /> <button class="btn-bl" id="upComplete"><span>Upload</span></button> </div> </span> </form> And my jQuery code is: $('#upComplete').click(function () { $('#up').hide(); $('#upRes').show(); var form = $("#uploadform"); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Member/UploadPicture", data: form.serialize(), success: function (data) { alert(data); } }); $.fancybox.close(); return false; }); If I open firebug, I can see that ajax() method does simple form post (not multi-part) and POST content is empty Is it possible to do files upload using jQuery ajax() method or should I do this in any other way?
