Dell 1907FP monitor
CPU is 3.0GHz
Please suggest.
I have removed a device from Device Manager, Windows 2003 Server. This device will installed when computer rebooted. How can I revert this change so it doesn't remove it anymore on reboot? Where in the registry can this be removed and prevented.
I'm looking for a chat protocol which:
Has easy to use clients which will run on both Windows and Linux.
Has a server which I can run myself on Linux (preferably easy to set up).
Supports duplexed voice and video with minimal hassle (optional).
Is open source/free software.
Is there a protocol that fulfils these requirements?
I've an Acer laptop with Windows 7 64 bit and an ATI Radeon HD 6550M Graphics card. Whenever I connect the power to charge the battery it automatically switches to the high-power GPU (ATI) instead of the low-power (Intel) GPU.
There's an option in the bios to stop such thing but it makes the GPU runs always on high-power and I can't switch to the low-power GPU.
How can I prevent the switchable graphics from automatically using the high-power GPU when charging?
Is there a way to create a local user account on a Windows 7 Professional machine that stays active only for a certain length of time e.g 12 months?
The reason for doing this is we loan out laptops for 12 months to students, however some are less than prompt at bringing them back, if they were locked out of the laptop this would force them to bring the machine back in if they hoped to continue using the laptop.
Also a warning would be helpful, although I could do this with a scheduled task.
Is there a way to integrate an LDAP authentication system on a windows network with intranet webapps so that the user on logging into their desktop does not need to log in a second time with the web app?
Open to other forms of authenticating other than LDAP if not possible.
Hi,
I know that RAM-Disk are fast, faster than any Disk but they lose their contents on a shutdown of the operating system. The capacity is limited to the RAM.

FYI: I'm using Windows 7.
In one case, I was just writing a test app to enumerate all files on my system, and I get an "access denied" error for "c:\documents and settings" (which was returned by .net when I said 'give me all subfolders in c:\').
What gives?!
Thanks!
I used iTunes and everything worked fine until today. When I try to display Large / Medium artwork, not all the artworks are displayed. However, when I try to display the small artworks, everything works.
Large (buggy):
Small (normal):
Is there a way to fix this?
Tech Specs: iTunes on Windows 7 x64, v. 10.3.1. All the artworks are stored locally on my hard drive (.jpg files (i added them manually)).
What is the real meaning of the "Select a language to match the language version of the non-Unicode programs you want to use" dialog under Control Panel-Regional Settings-Advanced in WinXP and Win2003?
According to the dialog text, Windows will use this to display the resource strings such as menus. The treatment of text files is application-specific, so this setting will not affect that.
But can I expect any other change in behavior from this setting? Any insights into what is really going wrong?
I'm have trouble transfering files again from my work PC, which is a linux machine to my home windows PC.
My work has changed it so I now need to SSH twice before I can access my PC.
So I need to:
ssh [email protected]
password: xxxxx
I then need to do it again.
ssh computer_name
password: xxxxx
I've tried accessing directly via my computers IP but to of no avail.
Is there a way I can use pscp or file zilla to ssh twice so I can transfer files?
I have a Windows virtual machine running inside Parallels in my Mac OSX.
This virtual machine is setup to use shared network.
What I want is: How to access a IIS service running inside this virtual machine from other computers in the network?
How can I prevent screensaver to run on windows xp? I can't disable it because of some security software, but if there is a small program that can simulate some keypress every 2-3 min that should do the job.
My TP-LINK-8901 modem does not connect to internet with "always on" (automatic) connection. I have to put it in bridge mode and make a connection in Windows to connect to internet.
Also, there is no configuration problem.
What I did:
Reset modem
Update firmware
Is there any way to solve the problem myself, e.g. through hardware or software? I can't have it repaired because the warranty already expired.
I created a AD 2003 GPO to add a couple of the company's links to everyone's IE. I have the following:
Checked: Place Favorites and Links at the Top of the List...
Unchecked: Everything else
Then:
Favorites
|-Company Link One
|-Company Link Two
Links
However, the GPO seems to add Favorites Bar, Microsoft Websites, MSN Websites, and Windows Live folders. If they are deleted it seems to make them come back. Anyone know how to fix this?
Is there a script or batch file to automate the log-on process from the XP Welcome screen? As all details are the same Username, Password, and Domain in a room of 30 machines.
The reason I don't use Windows AutoAdminLogon is I only want to logon temporary at different times as a user to run such things as online test for a class of high school students without the students logging on individually first, also it would be useful for admin tasks if I can change/specify the user details.
I have a Windows 2003 print server that I need to retire.
Through variaous methods (login scripts, etc) I think that I had everyone migrated off of this server and connected to the new print server.
Having said that, I'd like to make sure before taking the server down :-)
Is there a script that I can run to query a remote workstations in my domain to see what printer shares it is connected to?
Hi all,
We have a database file (foxpro) on a Windows share (2003 server), we're having some problems where the program that writes to this file has to retry as the file is locked, this all happens very quickly and within a few seconds the file is available but the problem is it shouldn't be locked. Does anyone know how we can view what's locking it? Any tools available?
Thanks
James
Does anyone have any idea why ipconfig might take a 10-20 seconds to finish? It's causing a timeout issue for me in an application.
This is in Windows XP

Is there any way to pin Chrome applications to its jumplist on Windows 7? I'm currently running v4 from the beta channel.
I've been able to pin the pages I'd like to the jumplist, but I'd like to have them open as Chrome applications rather than as new tabs.
I've been using the free naggy version of Smart FTP for a while. It's very good, but then it became shareware only.
So I was wondering, are there any other good FTP clients for Windows?
The ones I tried but didn't like was:
CoreFTP
FileZilla (this one was especially bad :( )
I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7 for sometime now and so far I don't have a bad word to say about it.
I would like to permanently remove the MSE icon from the task bar and pop-up box, though I would still like to be informed when it detects a threat, etc.
