  I want to have a link in the popup.html file for my extension that loads another file (which will be included with the extension) how can I do this? or will I need to keep it in the same page? I tried using this code: <a href="/mail.html"> <img id="newmail_icon" src="" width="16" height="16" /> <span id="newmail">loading</span><br /> </a> But when I click the link nothing happens. I just found out that adding target="_blank" to the link will make it work and open in a new tab, but I can't get it to open in the popup. I have tried target="_self" but it didn't do anything.

• Funny characters in my db

  My web app is breaking when I try edit a certain content type and I'm pretty sure it is because of some weird characters in my database. So when I do: SELECT body FROM message WHERE id = 666 it returns: <p>⢠<span></span></p><p><br /></p><p><em><strong>NOTE:</strong> Please remember to use your to participate in the discussion.</em></p> However when I try to count how many documents have those characters postgres complains: foo_450_prod=# SELECT COUNT(*) FROM message WHERE body LIKE'%â¢%'; ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xe2a225 HINT: This error can also happen if the byte sequence does not match the encodi Does anybody know what the issue is and how I can query for those funny characters? • Drop down select to change a second drop down select automatically

  I have a webpage where I have a form with several areas to input text and two drop down select options countries is the first one and depending in witch country is chosen the second should display the estates for that country to choose. my page connects to my db from where it gets the countries and estates.... I have a table with the country names and one table for each country estates. so all I'm trying to do is making it change the states to choose from automatically depending witch country got selected with out summiting the form since that enters a new entry to another table in my db. I seen that using javascript is the way to go but can't get it to work in my case since I don't want to be sent to another page or summit the form. here is part of my code any help will be greatly appreciated. • How to subString a block of user generated HTML while preserving formatting?

  I'd like to create the typical preview paragraph with a [read more] link. Problem is, the content that I'd like to SubString() contains text and html, written by a user with a WYSIWYG editor. Of course, I check to make sure the string is not null or empty, then SubString() it, problem is that I could end up breaking the html tags, throwing off the rendering of the entire site. The WYSIWYG editor doesn't seem to create perfectly formatted HTML, and many times seems to use <br /> tags instead of <p></p>, etc... basically, I can't rely on well-formed tags, etc. My workaround was to just strip out all HTML and substring the leftover text. This works, but loses any of the formatting that was in the HTML. What's the best method of SubString()'ing a block of non-well-formed HTML while maintaining HTML that won't break the rendering of the site?

• How to remove one instance of one string in PHP?

  I have a open source editor on the cms that I am making that automatically inserts a <br /> tag at the beginning of the post it submits to the database. This makes validation a pain, since even though there is no real text being submitted, the form still accepts the break tag as input and prevents the "Please enter some text" error from showing. So I tried to remove the opening break tag by filtering my input like this: substr($_POST['content'], 6); This works as long as the user doesn't press the backspace a couple of times which removes the break tag in which case the first 8 characters of the post gets removed even if they are not a break tag. So how can I remove the first 6 characters of the input ONLY if those first 6 characters are composed of the break tag. Also I don't want to remove all break tags, only the one at the very beginning of the post.

  I am working on a small function to take in a url and return a relative path based on where it resides itself. If the url contains a path in the query string, pathinfo returns incorrect results. • Cross browser (chrome/firefox) trying to get top-pos defined in percentage as pixels

  I have a problem whit cross browser output, I'm trying to get the top and left css attribute of a div, but firefox gives me the exact pixel position and Chrome give me the percentage.
