  • Windows 7 pro remote desktop true multi monitor support patch or hack

    After hours of research the closest i came to any patch that could fix this was a concurrent sessions patch which is not what i want. I have two machines both windows 7 professional. Its not an option to upgrade either to ultimate as the computer being remoted is in another state at our corp office. I need Dual monitor support and would have used the multimon i:1 edit thing however the other tower is not Win 7 ultimate. I have read over and over how it is not supported except with ultimate and enterprise and 2008 server. What have they put into windows 7 ultimate that is not in Win 7 pro and how can i get it or patch Win 7 pro to give it the same functionality. I would have paid for a software patch had i been able to find it anywhere. Summary: I am looking for the ability to remote to a Win 7 pro computer with another Win 7 computer while being able to use Dual monitors.   • OpenSSL support for Ruby: "Cipher is not a module (TypeError)"

    The Problem Our systems admin needed to upgrade the packages on our CentOS 5.4 dev server to match the packages on our production server. The upgrade affected ruby and/or openssl. We run a Ruby on Rails issue tracking system called Redmine that is deployed with Passenger on Apache. Everything worked before the server update, but when trying to access the ticket system now, I get the following error: Error message: Cipher is not a module Exception class: TypeError Application root: /home/dev/rails/redmine-0.8.7 I've been trying so hard to fix this problem but I can't seem to beat it. I have tried following this guide: http://iamclovin.posterous.com/how-to-solve-the-cipher-is-not-a-module-error When I try require 'openssl' in IRB, I do see a true return value. However, I'm still seeing the Cipher.rb is not a module TypeError when accessing the ticket system. Possibly (probably) related: I've tried updating Passenger, but when I try passenger-install-apache2-module I see: Checking for required software... * GNU C++ compiler... found at /usr/bin/g++ * Ruby development headers... found * OpenSSL support for Ruby... /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/openssl/cipher.rb:22: Cipher is not a module (TypeError) Any help?

A simple utility that would ask "Clear all browser caches?" with Yes/No. Just the major browsers -IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and optionally Opera I understand CCleaner can do this but it is not as simple as I would like (as it has other functions as well).   • Internal Use Chat/Desktop Platform

    I did some looking, but I didn't see a SF question directly related to this. I need to find a platform for internal/LAN use only for chat and desktop sharing. We got a lot people having to get up and walk over to another person's office for simple items, and we could save a lot of time collectivity if we had a solution where we had a client app similar to gchat or AIM, where one could right click a name and request a desktop sharing session (to or from). This wouldn't be for product presentation or long training sessions, and wouldn't need more than 2 people in the session. We use GoToMeeting for this. I've looked at TeamViewer, and they got the features I want (plus a lot more features that wouldn't help) and seem more geared to large enterprise support, and it is not exactly cheap. Also looked at OCS some as well, but it seems heavy for what I am trying to do. I don't need anything relating to phone usage. If the general opinion says otherwise, I could talked back into OCS if I am wrong about weight of the product. We use GoToAssist for remote support of clients (which I am a fan of), and I don't it fits here, correct me if I am wrong. All the workstations are XP/7. Thanks!

    Whenever I double-click on the FF icon to open Firefox, a Chinese website loads up in one of the tabs. Checking my settings for startup homepage (Tools Options) it was set to Google. Can anyone please advise how can I remove the uninvited Chinese website from loading every time I open Firefox? I am using Windows 7 64 bit with Firefox as my default web browser.

  • Officially announced RAM support size doesn't apply to one of twin rigs with just one difference

    It'll take a little long to describe my situation but here goes the story : In January 2009 we bought (the OEM parts) two similar systems with just one difference. One of them had a Phenom X4 cpu and the other one (mine) a Phenom X3 cpu. At the beginning we had problems with both systems to power them on whilst having all of their ram slots being full. We decided to install the systems with just 2 slots populated and later try to install the rest of ram sticks. Both systems did succeed to support 3 sticks. We tried many different procedures to make the systems work with their fourth ram slots being populated. We waited for new bios updates and flashed the boards when they were available, we tried different ram sticks with different frequencies etc. One day while we were trying to install the fourth stick, the X4 machine did accept it. The other one did not. The most mind boggling thing was that after one of my trials the X3 system begun to not operate with the third slot populated. Our boards did have AMD 770 chipsets and we even tried to change the board of the X3 machine with another 770 chipset board. Now my questions are : Should we change the cpu ? What is causing the X3 system to not accept the fourth (or now the third) ram stick ? The manufacturers sites do claim that this boards do accept 4 ram sticks (but they only tested them with certain ram brands and models). What are the limitations for maximum ram configurations on motherboards ? Are there some "rules of thumb" except frequency, voltage, chip type considerations for which we did check our parts ?     when viewing a television program using Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome/SeaMonkey/Safari it constantly pauses unless I have some kind of activity with either the mouse or the keyboard. The browser with the least amount of problems is SeaMonkey, the one with the most is Internet Explorer. Annie idea of what is causing this or how to prevent it? My finger gets rather tired watching a two-hour movie! :-) Thank you. Ross

    I have a domain with Windows SBS 2003 as domain controller. It's very common to get Master Browser errors in the logs, MRxSmb Event ID 8003. How can I avoid that? What have I done wrong? I know how to solve this: Stop the Computer Browser service on clients, but I don't know how to avoid this since the problem comes back every time I add a new client and I forget to stop the Computer Browser service. Error message: The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer [computer] that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{#######-####-####-#. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced. Is there an configuration of the server to avoid this problem?

    I want Firefox to redirect bad and broken links to Google search instead of the "Can't find the server" page. If it takes an add-on, that's okay. When you enter a bad or broken link in Google Chrome, the browser takes you to a search results page with all possibly relevant links to the request attempted. Please don't suggest the search-tool-bar, I am aware of it. And it's not really significant in this scenario.

  • AWS EC2 instance not pingable or available in browser

    I've seen this questions asked other places, but now I've run through every fix proposed in other questions so I'm re asking it here, in hopes that someone will have a different solution. Problem: I have a EC2 instance, and I can ssh into it and work on it, and I have a Elastic ip set to it. I am unable to ping this machine, or log in to it using my browser. Solutions mentioned and tried: service httpd start i. response I get is "unrecognized service" ii. when I run apache2ctl -k start, it shows "httpd already running", so I'm assuming httpd is not the problem, it's just possibly named something else because of apache2, or for whatever reason. I went into EC2-Security Group- Default (which is the one I used.)-inbound, and everything there is set up correctly (I'm assuming). There it shows 80(HTTP) 0.0.0.0/0. 443(HTTPS) 0.0.0.0/0, and various other servies with their ports and 0.0.0.0/0 next to them. I also enabled a rule for enabling ICMP Request All on 0.0.0.0/0 temporarily for testing purposes I've tried disabling the iptables with "service ufw stop" Just in case I'm doing something really stupid, because I'm not all that used to connecting to web servers that I've spun up, I'm typing in the address to the machine into the url like this (assuming my ip address was ip.address). i. http:/(slash)ip.address/ ii. ip.address iii. https:/(slash)ip.address/ iv. ip.address/webFolderName/ v. http:/(slash)ip.address/webFolderName/ None of the attempts worked, and the only thing I haven't tried that i've seen is to start wireshark on the machine, and see if the requests are reaching it, and it's just ignoring them. I'm not sure I want to do that yet, since A). I'm not 100% positive how to use wireshark without the gui, since it's the only way I've ever used it (I really should get used to it in terminal, but I didn't even know you could). B). It really seems like I'm missing something simple in getting this to work. Thanks in advance for any help.

    I'm having trouble with the Gmail yellow notification area disappearing too quickly in Google Chrome. For reference, I am talking about the notification that appears at the top of Gmail after archiving or deleting a message from a web browser. I tried it on IE9 and it works fine. I have also cleared the cache and cookies on Chrome and the issue persists. Has anybody run into this on Chrome and know of a solution?
