  • How do I know if have RSI or carpal tunnel?

    I feel that this is a much better place to ask this than a medical forum, we have ~250 people who spent most of their day in front of a computer. Does anyone here have any experience with such injuries? How/when did you find out? What did you do (if anything)? I don't know if I have the RSI, but I can tell you that I can "crack" my wrist and almost any one of my fingers whenever I want. Also, my wrist sometimes hurts me when I type for a very long time (especially on a laptop keyboard I have very long fingers so the palm is in an uncomfortable position most of the time) Is this normal? I bought a Logitech Wave keyboard, obviously it feels much better than the laptop keyboard, but I can't really tell if it helps the "cracking" and my wrist still sometimes hurts.

  • how do i run teamviewer in a headless system?

    im really new to ubuntu 12.04 and ive been trying to get remote desktop services between me and my server. and i dont have any spare monitors, keyboards, or mice. i did connect said items too the server and got teamviewer running and connected. but i cant use those components every time i want to go remote desktop. i have ssh but i want a GUI on hand for annoying stressful situations. i read somewhere that ubuntu doesnt start a gui if there is no monitor connected. and tried those xorg.conf setups to no avail. i believe this is the reason why my headlesds setup isnt working. how can i get my GUI to startup while headless?

    My laptop housing my life in entirety decided to go south this last weekend, cant blame it because I wanted it to do things that not even normal people :)  but it corrupted and could not get it going no matter what I tried. Imagining what I would loose (my POC's, Couple of VM's and lots and lots of documentation) pushed me to try anything short of reinstall. After toiling for about an hour looking for solution, I ended up at  http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Recovering+the+Vista+Bootloader+from+the+DVD where the last solution is the one that worked for me.     I have a recursive method that reversed a string (HW assignment, has to be recursive). I did it....but its only returning the value of the string after the first pass.     i have seen through other questions on the topic but most are a bit old. I looking for a good editor for developing on PHP in Linux(ubuntu). Here is my requirements Basic editor features Free Light-Weight Syntax highlighting Code Folding (class,function,if/else/while/foreach block) Code completion Invalid Syntax/Error highlighting as you type Auto code intending Snippet support(pieces of custom or language specific codes that i can insert) Extendable support It would be great if it had the following Debugging support WYSIWYG Code formatting Framework support(cakephp/yii/zend/smarty) Testing support Todo Native look and feel(Gnome) Flex/ROR support is welcome but not a requirement Mysql support I have tried the following editors Netbeans - it bloated, resource hogging and doesnt not have a native look and feel. Eclipse is okay but i cant fold if/while blocks and slow. Gedit can be extended and i have tried it but still i could not fold code or show error. I currently use Geany but it doesn't inform me of syntax errors as i type. If you have ways to solve the problems with above editors they too are also welcome

  • Installing Ubuntu 12.04 on the Hp Mini 210-2090nr

    When i got this netbook last year i planned n putting ubuntu netbook remix on it but i never did and now i can no longer booot n to windows for some reason so i finally decided to do it but after makig a usb stick with ubuntu on it it will not get to the menu where there is the black and white ubuntu logo and the option to install try and so on. I know to usb is configured correctly it will boot on other computers but on the netbook it only flashes SYSLINUX 4.06EOD..... and then flashs blue before turning black with the whit undercore in the top right corner for a very long time. any suggestions ive been told to disable acpi but i cant find it in the bios. (btw im uing 12.04 though ive tried 11.04 and used unetbootin linux live installer and universal usb installer to make the usb)

    Hello, I know outside aggregates cant change anything inside an aggregate without passing by his root. That said i would like to know if an aggregate root can hold references of members (objects insides) of another aggregate root? (fellowing DDD rules) Example : a Calendar contain a list of phases which contain a list of sequences which contain a list of assignations Calendar is root because phases and sequences and assignations only work in context of a calendar. You also have Students and Groups of student (called groups) It is possible (fellowing DDD rules) to make Groups holding references of assignations or it need to pass by the root for accessing groups from assignations ?   • How to use lemodev highscore plugin for unity?

    I am trying to add a server-sided highscore system to my game in unity. I have downloaded the free lemodev highscore plugin from the asset store but I cant figure out how to use it. I know where to put my server info and so on but other what are you supposed to do ? I added the main camera prefab that came with the package to my scene but other than adding an additional camera it did precisely nothing ( at least it seems that way ). Could anyone look into it and tell me how to use it ? The developer's website seems to have no information on the subject.

    Should I reuse variables? I know that many best practice say you should not do it, however later when different developer is debugging the code and have 3 variables that look a like and only difference is that they are created in different places in the code he might be confused. unit-testing is a great example of this. However I do know that best practice are most of the time against it. For example they say not to "overide" method parameters. Best practice are even are against nulling the previous variables (in Java there is Sonar that has warning when you assign null to variable that you don't need to do it to call garbage collector since Java6. you cant always control what warnings are turned off, most of the time the default is on)

    what is the latest version of ubuntu i can run w/ WORKING wifi on my macbook 4,1(early 2008)? i dual booted my mac os x lion alongside 12.10 ubuntu but cant figure how to get the wireless to work? so i downgraded to 10.10 for now.. is 10.10 the latest version i can have on my macbook with working wifi? or is there another? or am i just missing a noobish terminal code to fix the drivers? help appreciated! thanks

I am creating a web application that ideally will have some sort of desktop notification. i would love to do this in HTML5 but cant as need it to run on IE 8 and below.   • Collision Detection in Java for a game

    Im making a game in Java with a few other people but we are stuck on one part of it, making the collision detection. The game is an RPG and I know how to do the collision detection with the characters using Rectangles, but what I dont know how to do is the collision detection for the maps. What I mean by that is like so the character cant walk over trees or water and that stuff but using rectangles doesnt seem like the best option here. Well to explain what the game maps are gonna look like, here is an example http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae287/gordsmash/7-8.jpg Now I could use rectangles to get bounds and stop the player from walking over the trees and water but that would take a lot of them. But is there another easier way to prevent the player from walking over the trees and obstacles besides using Rectangles?

  • Make SQL Server Reporting Services use metric measurements

    I'm newly getting into creating and programming reports using SQL Server Reporting Services. One thing that bugs me right off the bat: I can't seem to find an easy way to tell the BIDS (Business Intelligence Dev Studio, a.k.a. Visual Studio) to use the metric system for measurements - you know - millimeters, centimeters etc., instead of inches and so on. I was trying to figure out whether that's a setting inside Visual Studio (and if so: where is it??), or whether this depends on the Reporting services instance we're going against (and again: if so, where the heck can I change that???). There must be a way to change this!! Except for the US, no one in the world is still measuring in inches..... c'mon - the world at large has long since adopted the metric system! Don't tell me Microsoft makes me go back into the dark ages.....

    I tried many ways to boot Ubuntu on my mac os. I do not have an internal cd drive but wen I tried to install it using the external cd drive(from apple), the drive does not work (Apple made it clear that u cant do this). I tried using many tools. I downloaded the amd64+mac edition and copid it to my usb using unetbootin.. it said that it would not boot of mac but the instructions on another blog was that it has no problems as the iso will take care. it also instructed to install refit and it worked for him but dosent boot for me. I even tried the terminal method of installing but didn't work... please help me out

  • lost the vertical scroll function in touchpad after upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10

    just upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 13.10, my Laptop is a Sony SVE1512c6ew, scrolling worked perfectly in Ubuntu 13.04, doesnt work at all in 13.10 Runs Ubuntu 13.10 64bits (btw, tested it i Windows 8 environment works there)Hardware OK, have seen a number of other users with the same problem, well for starters have followed the tip on using the dconf editor, following the path: org gnome settings-daemon peripherals touchpad boxed in all for sure... still cant get vertical scroll...... Any ideas???
