Two of them are: var typeInfo = Type.GetType("MyClass") and var typeInfo = typeof(MyClass) The advantage of the second way is that typos will be caught by the compiler, and the IDE can understand what I'm talking about (allowing features like refactoring to work without silently breaking the code) Does there exist an equivalent way of strongly referencing members/properties/methods for metadata and reflection? Can I replace: var propertyInfo = typeof(MyClass).GetProperty("MyProperty") with something like: var propertyInfo = property(MyClass.MyProperty)

  • How do I stop the designer from filling in my properties with null values?

    When I add a control to a form, visual studio assigns various of the properties of that form a value of null in the auto-generated designer code. I don't want the designer to make the redundant assignment (the value is already null). Can anyone tell me how to prevent it? example MyControl has property public SomeClass MyProperty { get { return m_MyValue; } set { m_MyValue = value; } } designer then autogenerates the following: myControl1.MyProperty = null;

    I'm trying to install wxGTK-devel on CentOS and since it's not in the base repo I added RPMForge. But now I'm getting these broken dependencies. I don't want start tampering with separate rpms because I suspect it will make thing worse. I remember installing this package from RPMForge without a problem several months ago.     We are currently deploying a WPF 4 app via click once and there is a scenario when the installation fails. If the user does not have .Net 4.0 Full install and attempts to install our app the framework installs fine but the app fails to install. If we re-run the installation again the app installs fine.   • Best practices for class-mapping with SoapClient

    Using SoapClient's class mapping feature and it's pretty sweet. Unfortunately the SOAP service we're using has a bunch of read-only properties on some of the objects and will throw faults if the properties are passed back as anything but null. Need to filter out the properties before they're used in the SOAP call and am looking for advice on the best way to do it. So far the options are: Stick to a convention where I use getter and setter functions to manipulate the properties, and use property overloading to filter method access since only SoapClient would be doing that. E.g. developers would access properties like this: $obj->getAccountNumber() SoapClient would access properties like this: $obj->accountNumber I don't like this because the properties are still exposed and things could go wrong if developers don't stick to convention. Have a wrapper for SoapClient that sets a public property the mapped objects can check to see if the property is being accessed by SoapClient. I already have a wrapper that assigns a reference to itself to all the mapped objects. class SoapClientWrapper { public function __soapCall($method, $args) { $this->setSoapMode(true); $this->_soapClient->__soapCall($method, $args); $this->setSoapMode(false); } } class Invoice { function __get($val) { if($this->_soapClient->getSoapMode()) { return null; } else { return $this->$val; } } } This works but it doesn't feel right and seems a bit clunky. Do the mapping manually, and don't use SoapClient's mapping features. I'd just have a function on all the mapped objects that returns the safe-to-send properties. Also, nobody would have access to properties they shouldn't since I could enforce getters and setters. A lot more work, though.

  • Create Views for object properties in model in MVC 3 application?

    I have an Asp.Net MVC 3 application with a database "Consultants", accessed by EF. Now, the Consultant table in the db has a one-to-many relationship to several other tables for CV type information (work experience, etc). So a user should be able to fill in their name etc once, but should be able to add a number of "work experiences", and so on. But these foreign key tables are complex objects in the model, and when creating the Create View I only get the simple properties as editor fields. How do I go about designing the View or Views so that the complex objects can be filled in as well? I picture a View in my mind where the simple properties are simple fields, and then some sort of control where you can click "add work experience", and as many as needed would be added. But how would I do that and still utilize the model binding? In fact, I don't know how to go about it at all. (BTW, Program and Language stand for things like software experience in general, and natural language competence, not programming languages, in case you're wondering about the relationships there). Any ideas greatly appreciated!   • Gradle + Robolectric: Where do I put the file org.robolectric.Config.properties?

    I'm trying to setup a test using Robolectric to click on a menu button in this repository. Basic Robolectric tests will run, but I'm not able to run any project-specific test using resources because it says it can't find my AndroidManifest.xml. After running ../gradlew clean check, here's the standard output from the Robolectric html file: WARNING: No manifest file found at ./AndroidManifest.xml.Falling back to the Android OS resources only. To remove this warning, annotate your test class with @Config(manifest=Config.NONE). I found these instructions which indicate I should create an org.robolectric.Config.properties file, but I'm not sure where to put it. I've tried everywhere, pretty much, and despite moving the file, the path in the error message is always the same as above (./AndroidManifest.xml). This makes me think the build process has never picked up the settings in the file org.robolectric.Config.properties. I also tried the @Config(manifest="") directive but this gave me a cannot find symbol error. If I move the AndroidManifest.xml into my project directory, then I get an error about it not being able to find the path ./res/values and I wasn't able to resolve that either. Any ideas? Update 1 Thanks Eugen, I'm now using @RunWith(RobolectricGradleTestRunner.class) instead of @RunWith(RobolectricTestRunner).   • Castle Windsor Project Includes in Config

    I want the properties section of the Castle config to be included from another file. I.e: <castle> <include uri="file://properties.config" /> </castle> The properties.config would then look like: <properties> <smtp>10.10.10.10</smtp> <username>john</username> </properties> I can get the include to work for components but not for properties. If I try to do this with properties I get an exception thrown. Is this a limitation of Castle?
