• Django + Pydev/Eclipse + Google App Engine - possible?

  Has anyone been able to get Google App Engine/Django working in Pydev/Eclipse? I tried this but had difficulty getting Pydev to recognize all of the externally linked folders (django plugins) that I was referencing. I ended up copying all of those folders into the project en masse, rather than referencing them, resulting in a massively bloated project folder - it was really an unworkable solution that eventually made me give up the whole project. So, I'm wondering if anyone has tried this or has any idea what I might have been doing wrong. (Keep in mind this was my first attempt at using Pydev, Django, App Engine and Python!!)

• Programatically prevent ASP .NET AJAX scripts from rendering

  Does anyone know of a way that I can stop all the .NET AJAX scripts from rendering, even if a ScriptManager exists on the page? The ScriptManager's Visible property has been overridden and disabled so that you receive a NotImplementedException if you try to set the Visible property. The reason I would like to do this is that I don't want these large chunks of javascript all over my pages when they are not required. The ScriptManager needs to be included on the master page to ensure that only one ScriptManager is added, but it would be stupid to to have to have two versions of the same master page - one ajax enabled and one not. Edit: I am actually using Telerik's RadScriptManager with RadAjax, in case anyone knows a method using these classes instead.

  Well, when I'm trying to use 'inclusion' in Django, I met some confused problems that I can't solve it by myself. There is the structures for my project. MyProject--- App1--- __init__.py models.py test.py urls.py views.py App2--- ... template--- App1--- some htmls App2--- ... templatetags--- __init__.py inclusion_test.py manage.py urls.py __init__.py settings.py I have registered templatetags folder in the settings.py (Both in Installed APPS & TEMPLATE_DIRS). But when I want to use {% load inclusion_test %} in my html, it raise an exception like this: 'inclusion_cld_tags' is not a valid tag library: Could not load template library from django.templatetags.inclusion_cld_tags, No module named inclusion_cld_tags I think there is nothing wrong with my import work, how can I do with that? • Display Ajax Loader while page rendering

  This is probably a simple question but how can I best use an AJAX loader in ASP.NET to provide a loading dialog whilst the page is being built? I currently have an UpdatePanel with an associated UpdateProgressPanel which contains the loading message and gif in a ProgressTemplate. Currently I have a page that onLoad() goes and gets the business entities and then displays them. While it is doing this I would like to display an AJAX loader. Would it be better to have nothing in the page load and have a hidden button that is triggered onLoadComplete or unLoad() which would then wait for the button click method to complete displaying the UpdateProgressPanel?

I’m looking for a solution for this problem: My model looks like this: class Song(models.Model): Album = models.ForeignKey(Album) class Artist(models.Model): album = models.ForeignKey(Album) song = models.ForeignKey(Song, blank=True, null=True) So the user has to define a topic. He can also define a subtopic but doesn’t have to. The subtopic belongs to a topic. In the admin interface I’d like to limit the choices for subtopic based upon what he selects in topics. That should change dynamically with AJAX. I will have a closer look to django-ajax-filtered-fields but didn’t find a solution to that specific problem. Perhaps it’s another usecase for django-ajax-filtered-fields in general? Or do you know another solution to my specific requirements?

• Django and mod_python intermittent error?

  I have a Django site at http://sm.rutgers.edu/relive/af_api/index/. It is supposed to display "Home of the relive APIs". If you refresh this page many times, you can see different renderings. 1) The expected page. 2) Django "It worked!" page. 3) "ImportError at /index/" page. If you scroll down enough to ROOT_URLCONF part, you will see it says 'relive.urls'. But apparently, it should be 'af_api.urls', which is in my settings.py file. Since these results happen randomly, is it possible that either Django or mod_python is working unstably?

  I have a set of checkboxes with multiple choice allowed. I parse the set this way: if ($("input[name='route_day']:checked").length > 0) { $("input[name='route_day']:checked").each(function(){ if(this.value != null) route_days_hook.push(this.value); }); dataTrap.route_days = $.JSON.encode(route_days_hook); } ...and pull the whole dataTrap to an AppEngine Python script via jQuery ajax. However, the Python script just bugs. If i change dataTrap.route_days value to a string instead of the JSON encoded object, everything works fine. My question is: how can i pass a checkbox set to the script using Ajax and still be able to iterate over it on the script?

The request url looks something like: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/username/uploads with 'username' being the correct username. This bring back the appropriate url in the browser. The architecture is currently like this: Web Application -- calls a class that does the upload For example, in default.aspx, I call : FileHelper fh = new FileHelper() fh.MoveFiles(file) I have an Ajax control that fires when the above is called. This is a control that resides on the website class/project. How do I update the progress counter from the Filehelper class? • Problem using AJAX with a Java Applet

  I currently have a Java Applet which contains a method callfromjs(). Javascript calls this method from the applet so that I don't have to deal with the clunky applet GUI, and then I can create the responses on the DOM easily from javascript. The problem is that the browser hangs while first loading the applet. To get around this, I figured I could use AJAX. The AJAX calls a PHP file which contains callfromjs(). The problem is that the request returns because it's PHP, and it doesn't wait for callfromjs() to retrieve the content. On to my questions: Is there a better way to handle this? If this method seems ok, how can I force the request not to return until the javascript is finished calling the method from the applet?

  I have a CascadingDropDown on an ASP.NET page. Now, the prompt text is "Select State". (list of states). However, on a different version of this page (ie querystring), i might want to set the selected index to "California" for example. How can i do this? The web service used by the ajax control (ie GetStates) gets invoked at the same time the jquery document.ready function is triggered (ie asynchronously). So when i try and set the selected index in jquery, the items are not yet bound. Is there a way to attach a handler to the ajax dropdown so that i can set the selected index once the webservice call has completed, and the items are bound?

  I think I am missing something obvious here, but I can't figure it out. I expect the following HTML to alert a response from the server. But, the alert is empty. I can see in Wireshark that the expected response is coming back to me from the server.   Hello, I have a web page that handles remote control of a machine through Ajax. When user navigate away from the page, I'd like to automatically disconnect from the machine. So here is the code: window.onbeforeunload = function () { bas_disconnect_only(); } The disconnection function simply send a HTTP GET request to a PHP server side script, which does the actual work of disconnecting: function bas_disconnect_only() { var xhr = bas_send_request("req=10", function() { } ); } This works fine in FireFox. But with Chrome, the ajax request is not sent at all. There is a unacceptable workaround: adding alert to the callback function: function bas_disconnect_only() { var xhr = bas_send_request("req=10", function() { alert("You're been automatically disconnected."); } ); } After adding the alert call, the request would be sent successfully. But as you can see, it's not really a work around at all. Could somebody tell me if this is achievable with Chrome? What I'm doing looks completely legit to me. Thanks,

• DNS Lookup in simple C#/asp.net ajax call is extremely slow

  I'm running this out of the VS 2008 debugger on Windows 7, running .Net 3.5. The idea was to make all ajax requests with jQuery only, rather than .net, following some tutorials online. Default.aspx - HTML page, jquery triggers method in Default.aspx.cs http://pastebin.com/pxBvKA2H Default.aspx.cs - C# Webform, just defines a GetDate fuction, which only returns a string for now (trying to eliminate any possible issues) (can only post one hyperlink...) pastebin.com/pnHn50hu The ajax query takes longer than it should. Profiling with firebug revealed that it took 1.03 ms. 1s DNS Lookup | 26ms Waiting | 1ms Receiving EDIT: It continues to take the same set of times if you continue to click and resubmit the request. Is there anything I can do to cut down on the DNS Lookup time / what did I do wrong? Thanks for any help.

• Confirmation box pops up more than once using ajax

  I'm using Ajax to delete records and display an animated message (function display_message) when this record is deleted, but I noticed that the confirmation box pops up depending on the number of records. for example if I have 2 records in my list and I want to delete on of them.The confirmation box pops up twice before deleting and the same thing happen with the message, It appears twice(I'm using a message that fade in and out), and so on(3 records - 3 pops up, etc). I tried a lot to resolve it but I haven't succeed .   At the following webpage liamharding.com/pgi.php I have an option panel on the left side of the page which opens and closes upon clicking the panels 'arrow', this works fine until you select a market (for testing use one of the 'Random Walk' markets and click 'Show/Refesh Graphs'), this then makes an ajax call using get_graph(forexName, myCount, divIsNew) function. Once this call is completed a graph(s) is displayed and then my options panels click() event does not work? The ajax call returns the data in a variable ajax_data, the problem happens when I perform the following code var jq_ajax_data = $("<div/>").html(ajax_data); . I need to wrap it in a so I can extract data from it using jQuery. If this line of code is commented out the click() event works fine ?? Hope somebody can help, I have spent a lot of time but cant find what the problem is.
