• Receiving "Path 'OPTIONS' is forbidden." Exception in ASP.NET website

  I am getting the error "Path 'OPTIONS' is forbidden." since we moved our website over to a new server setup. I am unable to recreate the error but I am receiving emails for this exception at least a few times a day. Any ideas what could be causing this and how I can fix it? EDIT: Stack Trace: at System.Web.HttpMethodNotAllowedHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at System.Web.HttpApplication.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) There are no directories or files named OPTIONS and I believe all permissions are correct. I am finding some information about a possible link to EXCEL getting data from the webserver, but nothing that full explains how or what is happening yet. EDIT AGAIN: Seems this has to do with Excel files opening in Internet Explorer..

• Bulk email sender and list management API

  I'm looking for a way to programmatically manage email lists and send large numbers of emails to these lists. The general idea would be similar to how social networking sites send email notifications when a friend posts new content. Since a user could have tens of thousands of followers, it doesn't seem realistic to send these directly from my application so I'm curious if there's a good way to handle this through a service provider. My company is using Google apps but I'm not an expert on their API. Our environment is ASP.NET MVC. Any advice is most appreciated!

• Email attachment parsing via mime4j

  Hi, I am using a small java smtp library (http://code.google.com/p/subethasmtp/), by this I need to parse the incoming emails in separate components viz body, attachments etc. I am trying to use mime4j , but the documentation suggests that mime4j can only give event notification or token notification and nothing else. For stripping out body and attachments etc I had to use my own custom logic inside the event handlers. Is my observation correct? If yes then how can I use mime4j to use for my requirement. Please suggest. I badly need an approach that takes in the smtp data stream and returns me with an array of attachment references or streams in fully parsed out form in java. Please help. • Can't mark email read with InterIMAP, folder is read-only

  I'm trying to mark emails read (/SEEN) with InterIMAP, but this doesn't work. I stepped through the code with debugger, and found out that the response from mail server is "IMAP0078 OK Store ignored with read-only mailbox.", which pretty much tells me why it doesn't work. But it looks like there's no way to tell InterIMAP to open the connection as read-write. If I use something like Thunderbird, I can set the messages as read. Does anyone know how I should use InterIMAP to achieve what I'm trying, or how to change the source code so that I'd be able to mark messages as read?

• C# WMI, Performance Counters, & SNMP Oh My!

  I have a C# windows service which listens to a MSMQ and sends each message out as an email. Since there's no UI, I'd like to offer an ability to monitor this service to see things such as # messages in queue, # emails sent (by message type perhaps), # of errors, etc. What is the best/recommended way to accomplish this? Is it WMI or performance counters? Is this data viewed using PerfMon or WMI CIM Studio? Does any approach allow one to monitor the service real-time as well as providing historical analysis? I can dig into the details myself but would appreciate some broad guidance to help demystify this subject.

• Bulk email notifications API for social networking site

  I'm looking to build a social networking site that notifies followers of a particular user when new content has been posted by that user. Since the hope is that the site will eventually have thousands of users with thousands of followers, I'd prefer to use an outside product/service to send the emails rather than building the functionality into the application and dealing with scalability issues. I've looked at MailChimp and a few others out there. Since my use case isn't really email campaigns, these providers don't seem like the right solution. In fact, MailChimp support confirmed for me that my scenario doesn't fit for them. I'm sure others have run into this same requirement. What are others out there using? I'm using .NET so would like to target something that has a .NET wrapper if possible. Any advice would be most appreciated!

''); Is there an easy way to do this ? I find a way: take all the unseen mails for the curent day(ex:9 may 2010), loop it and for then checking if it was send in the last X minutes echo it( using the imap_headerinfo-udate )BUT when i looked at gmail.com one email was recevied at 17:08 and on my server appears that the email was received at 14:08 Dan

• Silverlight 4 RichTextBox - can't restore Xaml with text containing curly braces

  We have a Silverlight application using the RichTextBox as a rich text editor for the user to create emails. We actually have our own serializer but essentially we are saving and restoring the Xaml. As far as I can tell it is impossible to restore any text containing curly braces. You can demonstrate this fairly easily by creating a RichTextBox and typing something similar to "{weird}" into it. Then take the .Xaml property of the textbox and set it on the .Xaml property of another textbox - kablooie. As we have our own serializer I have tried escaping the Text member of the Run elements with "". This makes no difference. I've tried replacing the braces with &#123; but that doesn't work either.

  Hello, Just learning Python and trying to do a nested for loop. What I'd like to do in the end is place a bunch of email addresses in a file and have this script find the info, like the sending IP of mail ID. For now i'm testing it on my /var/log/auth.log file Here is my code so far: #!/usr/bin/python # this section puts emails from file(SpamEmail) in to a array(array) in_file = open("testFile", "r") array = in_file.readlines() in_file.close() # this section opens and reads the target file, in this case 'auth.log' log = open("/var/log/auth.log", "r") auth = log.readlines() for email in array: print "Searching for " +email, for line in auth: if line.find(email) > -1: about = line.split() print about[0], print Inside 'testfile' I have the word 'disconnect' cause I know it's in the auth.log file. • IIS7 Custom Errror Handling Troubles for Classic ASP Website

  I recently upgraded a web server from IIS6 to IIS7 for a classic asp application and now experience a bizarre error. In the IIS6 set up there was a custom 500-100 page that functioned properly by capturing errors and delivering an email with error code, error source and error type values. That same structure was set up on the IIS7 machine but now the error emails contain no error information at all. They all come through values such as 'NO SPECIFIC ERROR CODE', 'NO SPECIFIC ERROR DESCRIPTION', 'NO SPECIFIC ERROR SOURCE'. Any one have some thoughts on why my custom error page cannot capture the error information?

• Why would a CSV attachment appear as text in the body?

  Hi all I've just implemented some code that emails a bunch of our clients with a CSV file attachment. Some (not many) have got back to us complaining that they don't get an attachment at all - just the CSV text inside the body of the email. Most however are fine. I suspect that it's different mail clients that are treating the attachment differently but I don't have enough info yet to be sure. I'm using .NET's MailMessage class with the Attachment.CreateAttachmentFromString() method. The MIME type I'm specifying for the attachment is text/csv. Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on? Ta muchly David

  I have an email script written in .Net that sends html emails. The email uses normal html hyperlinks to insert a link in the email, like this: <a href="http://www.stackoverflow.com/">StackOverflow</a> The problem is that in Entourage, a hyperlink like this always shows up for me like this: StackOverflow < http://www.stackoverflow.com/ > How can I format the hyperlink in my email so that in Entourage the text "StackOverflow" is the actual hyperlink, and the URL is not displayed after the text? Is there an html meta tag that needs to be set? Do I have to set the content-type somewhere? Or is there a different html syntax on the hyperlink itself that I should use?

But the problem arises when I am going to implement search on the stored messages. I have no idea how I am going to index the messages on top of this schema.   I'm trying to create a forgotten password form that emails users their password. I'm having a problem, though, with the actual password part. You see, I have the email and comparing the email correct, except whenever I send the email I always get either "Your password is ." or "Your password is Array". • Facebook API - Get comments

  Our business has a Facebook Fan Page. The fan page doesn't seem to generate any emails to us when updates are made to the page, whether someone adds a new status or someone comments on one of the statuses etc. Currently, we are running a very crude script to grab the content of the page and then use regular expressions to get the information we require. Obviously this is not fool proof and I'm looking into alternatives to this method. I've been looking at the facebook API and wonder if the rest server might be an option. I cannot, however, seem to find out how to return information of fan page statuses and their comments. Is anyone able to direct me how to use the API to retrieve this information. I am an admin of the fan page. The programming language I'm using is PHP. Many thanks.
