  • Unable to download microsoft excel files from a IIS SSL site

    The web master at my corporation added SSL to the web site and now none of my users can download Microsoft word and xcel files the sites generates. According to Microsoft the following must be down. Web sites that want to allow this type of operation should remove the no-cache header or headers. Typical of MS they don't tell you what to do, how to do it, or what the best practice is. The web master says its a web config setting. But all i can finds is <configuration> <appSettings/> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <httpRuntime sendCacheControlHeader="false"/> and I don't know if this is the best way to achieve the result. I would greatly appreciate some advice on this subject.

  • How to change color of a cell in one sheet if its value increases or decreases from another cell value in a different sheet

    I am putting together a workbook with 52 sheets for the weeks in the year. In this workbook there are multiple columns for percentages on each sheet. I want to be able to change the color of each cell based on whethernit increases (green) or decreases (red) from the same cell in the previous sheet. I have the formula i.e. =IF(ISERROR(B4/D4),"0", B4/D4) to calculate my percentages but I don't know how to put the reference in for this change. Any help?

  • Ubuntu 12.04 tilts when trying to open large excel file with libreoffice or matlab

    I have an xlsx-file of size 27.3MB and when I try to open it either in Libreoffice or Matlab the whole system slows down My processor is AMD Sempron(tm) 140 Processor (should be about 2.7Ghz) Memory I have about 1.7GB Any ideas? I opened this file in Windows no problem...of course it took a few seconds to load but Ubuntu freezes with this file completely...smaller files of size 3MB, 5MB etc open just fine... thnx for support =)

  • VBA ActiveX controls grow in size over Remote Desktop Connection

    We have an Excel workbook with a number of ActiveX controls, running in Excel 2003 on Windows XP. When connecting using Remote Desktop, the ActiveX controls change font, sometimes font size, and sometimes orientation (in the case of a spinner control). This happens on first connection and also as the workbook is used - some of the controls then enlarge in size, often overlapping other controls and part of the workbook. I read somewhere this may be caused by improper connection management (not closing them) leading to increasing memory usage; are there other reasons why the display is so different over Remote Desktop and are there workarounds? (the properties of each control usually remain the same, so force-resizing them doesn't always have an effect)

  • Copying Data to a Master sheet from other sheets without duplicates

    I have four workbooks, three of which are for data entries, and the latter which hosts all data entered in the other workbooks; as a matter of fact, it serves as a master workbook. I need code to copy data entered in each workbook in sheet 1 to be copied to the next available row on sheet 1 of the master workbook, but if the data to be copied from these individual workbooks are duplicates, then a message box should pop up displaying that its a duplicate. To be precise, I want the users to type p in column j indicating process, and click a button in the spreadsheet to copy the data to the master sheet. I would be glad for any assistance.   • Solver Add-in not loading correctly

    When I try to open solver from inside excel 2010, I get the error message: "Solver: An unexpected internal error occurred, or available memory was exhausted." The only way I have been able to get Solver to work is by going to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\Library\SOLVER\", and just opening the file called "SOLVER.xlam". If I open excel through that file, the program works fine. Is there a way to solve this issue?

    We just recently installed and have been using SharePoint 2010 and have run into a bit of a problem opening Excel spreadsheets with the xlsx extension. We are able to upload a spreadsheet with the xlsx extension, however, when we attempt to download the same spreadsheet we are getting the following error: Excel An error has occured. Please try again. We can open xls files fine as well as docx and pptx files.

  • Barcode scanner timing to excel

    I have a barcode reader that will load the barcode to a excel spreadsheet - great - but now i need it to do 2 things: 1 - add a time stamp to next to the barcode that has been scanned. So Barcode goes to A1, need B2 to show time. 2- find the name (that is in a seperate excel sheet) that is linked to that barcode and add it to C1, next to the time and barcode. I use this method to time trail running - each person is issued a barcode and as they go through various points their barcode is scanned and a time is allocated to their name.

  • Is there any way of preventing .csv files being converted into excel format

    I'm trying to work with an automated testing tool which can use .csv files as its data sourse. After saving a notepad file containing a number of fields and data seperated by commas as .csv it appears to have been converted to an excel file. When I run the test, only the first line of values is identified and can be run within the automated test. Not sure if this is expected with the testing product (www.badboy.co.au), but just wondered if there was a way of preventing excel from taking control of the .csv file? Any helpfull feedback would be great.

    After I saved an Excel document, I remembered that I needed to change something in it, so I go back to open it and it said Excel cannot open the file, because the file format or the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file. I know when I saved before, around 2hours ago, it worked just fine. The document size is at 0KB now. How do I recover this document? Its crucial for my business!

  • SSRS 2005 Set SimplePageHeaders on the report instead of the server?

    I have one report that does not export to excel friendly from SSRS 2005. I know I can use <Render> <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering"> <Configuration> <DeviceInfo> <SimplePageHeaders>True</SimplePageHeaders> </DeviceInfo> </Configuration> </Extension> </Render> in the rsreportserver.config, but I am not the only person with reports on this machine. I also found that you can pass &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True in the url to export the report programatically. I tried adding the &rc:SimplePageHeaders=True to the end of the url when navigating to the report manager, but when I select excel from the dropdown and click export the headers are still exported. I even tried setting the rc:Command=Render and rc:Format=EXCEL in the url too without any luck. Is there a way to do what I am trying to do? note: I am wanting to render the report on the built in report manager and use the build in export to excel dropdown, not in an app or website.

  • How to force ADO.Net to use only the System.String DataType in the readers TableSchema.

    Howdy, I am using an OleDbConnection to query an Excel 2007 Spreadsheet. I want force the OleDbDataReader to use only string as the column datatype. The system is looking at the first 8 rows of data and inferring the data type to be Double. The problem is that on row 9 I have a string in that column and the OleDbDataReader is returning a Null value since it could not be cast to a Double. I have used these connection strings: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="ExcelFile.xlsx";Persist Security Info=False;Extended Properties="Excel 12.0;IMEX=1;HDR=No" Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="ExcelFile.xlsx";Persist Security Info=False;Extended Properties="Excel 8.0;HDR=No;IMEX=1" Looking at the reader.GetSchemaTable().Rows[7].ItemArray[5], it's dataType is Double. Row 7 in this schema correlates with the specific column in Excel I am having issues with. ItemArray[5] is its DataType column Is it possible to create a custom TableSchema for the reader so when accessing the ExcelFiles, I can treat all cells as text instead of letting the system attempt to infer the datatype? I found some good info at this page: Tips for reading Excel spreadsheets using ADO.NET The main quirk about the ADO.NET interface is how datatypes are handled. (You'll notice I've been carefully avoiding the question of which datatypes are returned when reading the spreadsheet.) Are you ready for this? ADO.NET scans the first 8 rows of data, and based on that guesses the datatype for each column. Then it attempts to coerce all data from that column to that datatype, returning NULL whenever the coercion fails!   • Silverlight file download for COM Interop

    Is the following possible in Silverlight when a button is clicked? An Excel template is downloaded from a remote server and saved to the local machine An instance of the template is then opened on the client A macro is then executed within the new Excel document I can do everything apart from saving the template to the local machine. I can save this in isolated storage but then I don’t know where this is when trying to open it from the Excel COM interop code. Has anyone any ideas or is this not possible?
