I'm curious to learn how Etherpad and Google Docs automatically save data. When you're writing a text document the products send only the changes to the server. Any idea how this technology works and where I can go to learn more about the end-2-end?
Thanks
I have informations about some objects stored in BigTable(coordinates and few more) and I have to put this objects on Google map. How can I do that? (Please write some code example. I am using java for my application).
I've an android application that needs to navigate to a google service webpage (say calendar). Because I already have a Auth Token (using Android Accounts manager), I want to skip user being redirected to web login. Would auto-login be possible using authtoken ?
If yes, what is the exact Url with params
Does the Google Maps API allow me to get all of the zip codes of a city/state? For example can I use it to ask the question what zip codes are in San Francisco?
Basically, i have the google api search engine which will send back addresses based on the search by the user;
And a map api which will go over to the selected place typed in the textbox.
However, both of them are in different textboxes / buttons. i can't seem to be able to change the ids of the button to make ONE of the buttons function as two ways, which your able to get the address, and the map will move to the selected location.
What exception does com.google.appengine.api.datastore.Transaction.commit() throw when there is a concurrency problem?
I want to retry if there is a concurrency issue, but I don't know what exception to catch.
I am looking at writing a .net application that uses the Google AJAX Search API to determine where our website falls for a given term compared to a competitor.
I can find alot about the old SOAP API however for the new AJAX api I cannot find any information on the following:
Is this sort of use allowed as the Terms of use are vague
Is there a limit to the number of requests per day
As you can only get a max of 8 results at a time, is the only way to get the top 100 results to keep requesting the next set and is this an issue?
Thanks

Is there anyway of retrieving coordinates through google search? right now my search is able to have markers on the map, but however i do not have any idea how to retrieve coordinates through just the search api alone. I have a html page named mapsToolKit.html and two js scripts with maps.js and search.js, i want the coding to be in search.js, so far i have managed to done in the maps section but is there anyway to retrieve it back through the search.js part?
I have succeeded in loading a Google map using the gMap jQuery plugin and making it display several markers passed to it in a JSON object using the pattern demonstrated here under "Map with marker and info window". So far, so good.
Now I want to have a link on the same page which, when clicked, displays the info window for a marker on the map.
How is this done?
Any tips or best practices for unit testing Google Wave robots written in Java? I'm expecting to deploy on AppEngine, if that helps. I'm a fan of TDD but new to both Wave Robots and AppEngine, so I'm hoping to use TDD to help me explore the design space.
Hello. I'm getting some weird black spots with a custom map page (via the Google Maps API v2.x) I have created. (Click SERVICIOS and then the icon farthest south to generate image shown below.) The issue seems to only appear when using Internet Explorer. I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if there is a common fix?
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Hi I have the address of a property and my application can launch a browser to go to http://maps.google.com?q=searchStringHere. If a good match is found it will take it directly there. Is there any thing I can append to the url to make it switch to streetview without having the exact coordinates? I dont't want to code any javascript or flash.
In a Python Google App Engine app I'm writing, I have an entity stored in the datastore that I need to retrieve, make an exact copy of it (with the exception of the key), and then put this entity back in.
How should I do this? In particular, are there any caveats or tricks I need to be aware of when doing this so that I get a copy of the sort I expect and not something else.
I am writing an iPad application that uses the MapKit control.
How do I get all my content into Google Maps. i.e. I have a bunch of locations along with photos, video, audio and various other information.
So when the iPad user loads my App and zooms into a certain place in the world I want my Annotations to be visible and when they touch the pins they get access to more information etc.
I have put together a 5 star rating system using PHP and Ajax which will write the rating into a database. (See link below)
http://andrewmccrum.com/maps/rate/5star.php
I want this rating system to work within a Google Maps InfoWindow but at the minute I can only get the InfoWindow to read and display the rating. It will not let the user vote like the top link. And I have no idea why

I have an asp.net website which as part of a wizard uses an embedded google map to select a location by clicking on the map to place a marker. How do I automate this with Selenium?
In particular I've tried:
ClickAt
DoubleClickAt
MouseDownAt
MouseUpAt
In all cases passing the map div id as the locator and "100,100" as the coordinate.
I don't care where on the map the marker is placed, as long as I can place that marker.
Hi ,
I have generated a Google map key by login as a [email protected] . Is there any restriction in generating the number of keys for each user. Since we have 2 different domains and i need to generate key for that too.
Actually i am not sure about of how many keys the person who used this id has created..
And is there any way to find of how many keys had already been created for the same account previously???
I'm syncing the Google Calendar with my application (I store events in a database). When an event is updated I can easily find the last updates by sorting the event feed on the 'updated' order.
However, if an event is removed / deleted, how can I track this update from the feed?
The mobile view of Google Calendar is really great, but I would like to be able to have it for one calendar ONLY, rather than all of the calendars I use. This would be so that I could create a webapp where a user could visit a URL and see a mobile view of a certain calendar, without the user having to add it to his calendars.
What is the best way to do this? Are there any tools which accomplish something similar?
Hi,
I'm trying to allow a user to set their location and then have Google Maps pan to that location.
I can't seem to get panTo to work, instead of updating my map it just reloads the page.

Any ideas?
I am using gd_client.UpdateCell to update values in a google spreadsheet and am looking for a way to update the formatting of the cell i.e. color, lines, textsize.....
Can this be done?
Are there examples or other documentation available?
Anything to get me going would be great
When you sign up to google analytics it instructs you to use a javascript snippet on every page you want to track. This code includes an API key, which is visible to everyone who views your source code.
How does it guarantees that the request is coming from the real site, and not from a third-party who wants to mess with your statistics? Does it check the HTTP Referer header? Even that is not safe, as it can be forged.
I believe I read that if you wanted to use Google's App Engine, your application needed to be open source. With the recent announcement of App Engine for Business, does the same rule apply? I would like to host an application on this particular platform but have no interest in releasing the code initially (down the road, potentially).
