That is, having a dynamically configurable GUI built in GXT, you can add your own widgets 'on-the-fly' in any order you like - with your own custom everything.     In my application I have <Rectangle.Margin> <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource XYPosToThicknessConverter}"> <Binding Path="XPos"/> <Binding Path="YPos"/> </MultiBinding> </Rectangle.Margin> The Data Context is set during runtime. The application works, but the design window in VS does not show a preview but System.InvalidCastException. That’s why I added a default object in the XYPosToThicknessConverter which is ugly. class XYPosToThicknessConverter : IMultiValueConverter { public object Convert(object[] values, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { // stupid check to give the design window its default object. if (!(values[0] is IConvertible)) return new System.Windows.Thickness(3, 3, 0, 0); // useful code and exception throwing starts here // ... } } My Questions: What does VS/the process that builds the design window pass to XYPosToThicknessConverter and what is way to find it out by myself.     Hi, I am using NHibernate Lucene search in my project. Lucene.Net.dll - v - 2.3.1.3 NHibernate.dll - v - 2.1.0.4000 At this point I am trying to use async option for indexing and used following options config.SetProperty(NHibernate.Search.Environment.WorkerExecution, "async"); config.SetProperty(NHibernate.Search.Environment.WorkerThreadPoolSize, "1"); config.SetProperty(NHibernate.Search.Environment.WorkerWorkQueueSize, "5000"); Questions 1) My initial index was not build with this option, when used these settings first time, I had error saying NHibernate.Search.dll not found. When I deleted existing index and then started working, it went fine. Do we need to rebuild indexes whenever we change config settings like above ? 2) How size of index should be interpreted; i.e. initially my index was about 400MB (build over the last few months), which I deleted. Later when I reindexed, the size of index went down to 5MB ! Search appear to be alright after limited testing, but such a change appeared bit scary. Should we delete/rebuild indexes once in a while & is it normal to change this drastically ? 3) Is my above setting is OK ? When I had WorkerThreadPoolSize=5, I once got Dr Watson kind of error. Please advise on best practices of using async configuration for search. Regards, Atul

  • ETW tracking from .net, user mode and driver

    Hi everyone, We have an application that parts of it are in .net, c++ usermode and C++ drivers. The application is divided into several executables that run on demand and communication with each other using LPC(the processes run in different sessions(winlogon)). Currently We have a home written logging service to which .net and c++ usermode communicate by sending LPC messages. The driver uses DbgPrint and is not always enabled, as it causes the code to run 30% slower(we have lots of logging). I want to have all the logs written in one place and preferably not writing the logger myself(I love log4cpp and log4net). The requirement is to write from all the executables and drivers into one place and to have minimal overhead. I have read that ETW is way to go, however I wasn't able to find already written logger that uses it like log4cpp or log4net. So basically my questions is, do you know if there is already implemented ETW appender for log4cpp and log4net I can use ?

    I would like to create a database backed interactive AJAX webapp which has a custom (specific kind of events, editing) calendaring system. This would involve quite a lot of JavaScript and AJAX, and I thought about Google Web Toolkit for the interface and Ruby on Rails for server side. Is Google Web Toolkit reliable and good? What hidden risks might be if I choose Google Web Toolkit? Can one easily combine it with Ruby on Rails on server side? Or should I try to use directly a JavaScript library like jQuery? I have no experience in web development except some HTML, but I am an experienced programmer (c++, java, c#), and I would like to use only free tools for this project.

  • read url in binary mode in java

    In java I need to read a binary file from a site and write it to a disk file. This example http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/urls/readingURL.html could read webpages succesfully, but when I try to read a binary file from my localhost server and write it to a disk file the contents change, corrupting the binary file. Using fc I see that 0x90 is changed to 0x3F and other changes. How do I acess the binary files (read url and write to file) without java or anything else changing ANY characters, like doing any newline conversions or character conversions or anything else, simply reading input url and writing it out as a file.

  • CellTable + AsyncListViewAdapter<T> + SimplePager<T>, stuck with 'loading' bar when paging

    Hi I'm trying to make CellTable, AsyncListViewAdapter<T> and SimplePager<T> working together. I managed to display my data, but whenever I click either "go to start" or "go to end" button I get that 'loading' indicator which stays there till the end of days. (And AsyncListViewAdapter<T>.onRangeChanged doesn't even get called this time.) I went through the code-snippets in this thread, but I can't see nothing suspicions in what I've been doing. Is there some obvious answer to a rookie mistake?     Win32 Virtual listviews (LVS_REPORT view) created with the LVS_OWNERDATA style are supposed not to scroll when LVSICF_NOSCROLL is used in the LVM_SETITEMCOUNT message or ListView_SetItemCountEx macro, according the MSDN documentation. However, this doesn't seem work, and the list-view scrolls regardless of the use of LVSICF_NOSCROLL. In these sorts of cases, 99% of the time it is something I have done incorrectly or overlooked. But, I've now run out of options. Have I missed something?

    I am trying to make this landscape only iphone app. I only use this code for this purpose: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); } However when I click clip subviews checkbox from interface builder, the view is clipped from the middle. I also don't receive any touch events from outside of view bounds obviously. - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint fingerPos = [[touches anyObject] locationInView:self.view]; NSLog(@"%f %f",fingerPos.x,fingerPos.y); } only prints for coordinates between 20 and 320 for X. But Y works fine. When i try to modify bounds by hand, everything works fine; View is positioned and shown correctly, printed coordinates are correct, I receive touch from all of the screen except between 0 and 20 for X. So Left side of the screen is unresponsive to touch events for only 20 pixels. Code I use to modify bounds: self.view.bounds = CGRectMake(-180.0f, 0.0f, 680.0f, 480.0f); What might be causing this? Weird!

  • Can I use ido-completing-read instead of completing-read everywhere?

    I'm a big fan of ido-mode, so much so that I would like to use it for things like describe-function or find-tag and so on, without having to write something like in "Can I get ido-mode-style completion for searching tags in Emacs?" for each one. Both (defalias completing-read ido-completing-read) and (setf 'completing-read 'ido-completing-read) don't work, at least partly because ido-completing-read calls completing-read in its body, so any simple redefinition would result in infinite recursion. In theory, it should be possible, since the first line of the docstring for ido-completing-read is "Ido replacement for the built-in completing-read." I've looked around a bit and can't seem to find anyone else who has attempted or succeeded at it. I realize that Icicles [2] probably provides something like this, and I may end up going with that anyway, but it is a bit more of a plunge than I care to take right now. Thanks for any help.
