jQuery - animating 'left' position of absolutely positioned div when sliding panel is revealed

Hello, I have a hidden panel off the left side of the screen which slides into view on the click of a 'tab' positioned on the left side of the screen. I need the panel to slide over the top of the existing page content, and I need the tab to move with it. and so both are absolutely positioned in css. Everything works fine, apart from I need the tab (and thus the tab-container) to move left with the panel when it is revealed, so it appears to be stuck to the right-hand-side of the panel. Its relatively simple when using floats, but of course this affects the layout of the existing content, hence absolute positioning. I have tried animating the left position of the panel-container (see the documented jquery function), but I cant get it to work. jquery mouse events masked by img in IE8 - all other platforms/browsers work fine

Using the jQuery mouse events for mouseenter, mouseleave or hover all work swimmingly on all Mac or Windows browsers except for IE8/Windows. I am using mouseenter and mouseleave to test for hot rectangles (absolutely positioned and dimensioned divs that have no content) over an image used as hotspots to make visible the navigation buttons when different regions of the main enclosing rectangle (image) are touched by the cursor. Windows/IE jQuery never sends notifications (mouseenter our mouseleave) as the cursor enters or exits one of the target divs. If I turn off the visibility of the image everything works as expected (like it does in every other browser), so the image is effectively blocking all messages (the intention was for the image to be a background and all the divs float above it, where they can be clicked on). I understand that there's a z-index gotcha (so explicitly specifying z-index for each absolute positioned div does not work), but unclear as to how to nest or order multiple divs to allow a single set of jQuery rules to support all browsers. The image tag seems to trump all other divs and always appear in front of them... BTW: I could not use i m g as a tag in this text so it is spelled image in the following, so the input editor does not think that I am trying to pull a fast one on stackoverflow... How used? "mainview" is the background image, "zoneleft" and "zoneright" are the active areas where when the cursor enters the nav buttons "leftarrow" and rightarrow" are supposed to appear. Why does my TextBox with custom control template not have a visible text cursor?

I have a custom control template which is set via the style property on a TextBox. The visual poperties are set correctly, even typing to the textbox works, but there is no insertion cursor (the | symbol) visible which makes editing challenging for our users. Accordion "growing out" from its container - in IE7/8

I think this problem is best explained by images. This is how my accordion looks: When you click on the small plus/minus icons the slides under each chapter will expand/collapse. However when the content in the accordion grows too tall, it grows out from its container. So if I click on more plus icons the accordion will look like this (not pretty): As you can see, the container is not growing taller together with the accordion and it does not look good. This problem only occurs in IE7 and IE8. It works in Firefox and Chrome. saved image in the picturebox shows no preview

Sidebar with CSS3 transform

Goal I'm working on a collapsible sidebar using jQuery for animation. I would like to have vertical text on the sidebar that acts as a label and can swap on the animateOut/animateIn effect. Normally I would use an image of the text that I've simply swapped vertically, and switch it out on animation, but with CSS3 transforms I'd like to get it to work instead. Problem The problem I'm facing is that setting the height on my rotated container makes it expand horizontally (as it's rotated 90deg) so that doesn't work. I then tried to set the width (hoping it would expand vertically, acting as height), but that has an odd effect of causing the width of my parent container to expand as well. Fix? Anyone know why this happens and also what the fix/workaround could be without setting max-widths and overflow: hidden? I've got a fairly good understanding of both html elements behavior and css3, but this is stumping me. I am really intrigued with how Facebook in particular is able to query and return matches of not just users but also pages, ads etc row after row. Im sure most who are reading this have tried the facebook search My question is in my case, should I: Perform 3 separate LIKE %search% on each of the tables on search.php. Javascript/Jquery Super Scrollorama Navigation Issues

On a Wordpress site I am currently working on, my client wanted the different sections of the front page to slide up from the bottom and cover up the previous section, like a wipe or slide transition. Using super scrollorama found here: http://johnpolacek.github.com/superscrollorama/, I managed to achieve the desired result. Next, I needed to create a navigation menu on the front page only. I did so, and set anchors at various different points on the pages. I also used the scrollTo library for scolling animations when I click the nav menu links. However, there are a number of problems I have encountered: When at the top and I click "showcase", it brings me down to the showcase section, but the products section (the div right after it) is overlapping it. Other divs seems to have the same problem of the following divs overlapping the current one I can only navigate forwards. When I try to go backwards, it won't (except for "Home") I thought it might have something to do with the CSS "top" property of the divs, so I tried resetting them every time the click function kicked in, but it didn't work. So I removed it for the time being. Currently set the javascript to prevent the default action of scrolling to the anchors and instead setting it to scroll to the actual divs themselves. However, I'm still having the same issues. How to prevent DIVs from sliding over each other

I’m going to use DIV-based layout instead of table-based to reduce amount of markups and speed up page loading, however I’ve found it too much tricky as I’m not CSS guru. Table overflow working in Chrome and IE but not Firefox

I am trying to get a layout that always takes up the entire screen, no more, no less. The layout has a header row, a 200px wide left bar (scrollable), and a scrollable content area. This works in Chrome and IE, but in Firefox the scroll bars never show nor work. What LTO 4 drive to buy

Evan Anderson mentioned in another solution you could buy a LTO-4 (autoloader, 1 tape / day) - $4,566.00 (the discussion included total cost of tapes for a specific rotation.) but I don't know specifics on what he or you would recommend for the actual drive and if necessary controller. Show me a newegg URL or CDW, Dell, or HP, or whatever your favorite vendor would be for your solution if you don't mind looking it up or just give me a brand and a model number and I'll be glad to do the leg work myself. I currently have on have on hand an external LTO 3 drive that uses LVD SCSI interface (and thus have a controller card that has an external LVD SCSI connector). If that card isn't sufficient to interface to a LTO 4 drive let me know. http://www.fujifilmusa.com/shared/bin/LTO_Overview.pdf shows minimum tape speeds for LTO4 and other LTO formats. It looks like the IBM LTO4 actually has a lower minimum speed than the IBM LTO3. Either way my average server is too slow to feed LTO3/4 without shoeshining so I'm looking for a drive with a low minimum write speed. If you trust the PDF from 2008 that makes my choices IBM LTO 4 full height IBM LTO 4 half height HP LTO 4 half height but presumably there are other options out there that weren't mentioned in the fuji PDF. Again I'm looking for a specific recommendation on a drive to buy (and the controller if needed).

Okay, so I'm going to take the off chance that someone here has used zxing before. I'm developing a Java application, and one of the things it needs to do is encode a byte array of data into a QR Code and then decode it at a later time. Hi I m using C#.NET 4.0 I have an jpeg image and i want to reduce its size in bytes .I don't want to change the image size in manner of height and width and not want to lose image quality.Some bit of reduce quality is not an issue. I try to make it a thumbnail image but it reduce the size according to height and width. I can't found any solution. Any type help will be appreciated..

Winforms TabControl causing spurious Paint events for UserControl

For our project, we've written a WinForms UserControl for graphing. We're seeing some strange behavior when our control is sited in a TabControl - our control continuously fires Paint events, even when there is absolutely no activity by the user. We only see this in the TabControl. When we site our control in other containers such as Forms or Splitters, Paint is only fired when you'd expect e.g. when the control is first displayed, etc. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening? Add animation when user control get visible and collapsed In Wpf

I have two xaml files MainWindow.xaml and other user control WorkDetail.xaml file. MainWindow.xaml file has a textbox, button, listbox and reference to WorkDetail.xaml(user control which is collapsed). Whenever user enter any text, it gets added in listbox when the add button is clicked. When any items from the listbox is double clicked, the visibility of WorkDetail.xaml is set to Visible and it gets displayed. In WorkDetail.xaml (user control) it has textblock and button. The Textblock displays the text of selected item and close button sets the visibility of WorkDetail window to collapsed. Now i am trying to animate WorkDetail.xaml when it gets visible and collapse. When any items from listbox is double clicked and WorkDetail.xaml visibility is set to visible, i want to create an animation of moving WorkDetail.xaml window from right to left on MainWindow. When Close button from WorkDetail.xaml file is clicked and WorkDetail.xaml file is collapsed, i want to slide the WorkDetail.xaml file from left to right from MainWindow.
