  I have an access database that I gave to a user (shame on my head). They were having trouble with some data being too long, so I suggested changing several text fields to memo fields. I tried this in my copy and it worked perfectly, but when the user tries it they get a "Record is too large" messagebox on saving the modified table design. Obviously the same record is not too large in my database, why would it be in theirs?

  I have enabled the setting in squid (in pfsesnse) where any file which is greater than 50MB should not be downloaded. I tried downloading in IE and it comes with error that security setting does not allow you to download that file. But when i tried same in FF it allows me to download any file size. Why does Firefox bypass the proxy server?

  recently I found a video on the net ( a .mp4 file), and when I had it on my computer with Windows7, I noticed its thumbnail was not the average windows 7 video thumbnail (which looks like a piece of video film with a random picture from the movie), but a custom thumbnail! Looking in the file properties did not help find the correct button to change the thumbnail...so I just wonder how he did it! • Suggestions for hosted file sharing services

  Before I pose my question, I will give some insight as per my scenario: I work for a small business (cost is an important factor) Our bandwidth is limited and would not support an in-house FTP server We need to share files (mostly pdf, inDesign, Illustrator documents) to our clients, and as we expand, we are finding that our current locally-hosted FTP solution is too slow and is becoming a detriment to our sales team. What we need is a remotely hosted solution to share files with our clients, specifically with the following features: Greater than 100gb of secure storage The Ability to distribute unique log in credentials to clients, granting access to a personalized directory or folder, while limiting access to other files on the server. A relatively simple web-based UI for clients with limited computer knowledge We have considered a dedicated remote server, and web-based services (box.net, yousendit.com, onehub.com, filesanywhere.com) but I am unsure as per the direction we should be taking - have I left another solution out? • Losing file permissions after rebooting Windows 7

  I have a User directory full of files that are not accessible permission wise for the user who's home directory it is. Said user can't run Explorer. For example, it provides an error complaining that permission is not available for required files. I tried various ways to give said user permission of his home directory and things are fine until after rebooting the machine; the permissions reset to the previous state and the problem persists. I followed the solution outlined here. And again things worked until I reboot the machine. I'm in this mess because I replaced a corrupted user profile as outlined here. The original user and the new replacement on are/where both admin accounts. In case it is relevant I will mention that the Users directory is not on the C volume but a D volume on the same machine. Any insight is appreciated.

• Retry failed downloads - Google Music Manager

  After my old computer died I wanted to download my music collection from Google Music - which is very easy with Googles Music Manager. After a few hours it had downloaded my library, but also showed around 300 download errors. Downloading the library another time, however, made different files fail (Which tells me that the error isn't connected to the files as such). Does anybody know of a way how to retry only the songs that failed downloading?

  I have a Windows 2003 web server with a tree of folders that contains around 100GB of small images. I need to update the permissions on this folder to add a new user with access. I tried to do this by right clicking on the folder and adding the new user but the process never completed. I left it running for around an hour but it started to heavily impact the peformance of the server. Is there any other way to change these folder permissions without affecting server performance? • MySQL reclaim index space after large delete?

  After performing a large delete in MySQL, I understand you need to run a NULL ALTER to reclaim disk space, is this also true for reclaiming index space? We have tables using 10G of index space and have deleted/archived large chunks of this data and unsure if we need to rebuild the table in order to decrease the size of the index. Can anyone offer any advice? We are trying to avoid rebuilding the table since it would take quite awhile and lock the table. Thanks!

• Chrome: Save as dialogue creates temp file in download directory, I want to change this location

  I've set the download directory for Chrome to be my desktop, but that means that whenever I want to "Save As" it creates a temp file on my desktop until I select the final download destination and close the dialogue. This is deeply frustrating since I browse windowed and I keep seeing the damn things pop up and disappear in the corner of my eye, is there any way to change the directory in which temp files are created in this manner?

  I use Rackspace CloudFiles CDN. Apparently the way that Akamai works (company that backs CloudFiles program) is that the mime-type is an image and will force the user to download it - I can still use the image within HTML tags like the <img src="//cdn.com/image.jpg"/> but copying it in the URL or clicking the image will always prompt the download I want to view that image within the browser - this happens with IE, Google Chrome and Firefox.

  Look at the left area. There's double entry for the removable drive "CROSSGRAVE" but the other other one has different icon and when you expand it, it will show the icon for the removable drive. What might be this one? I don't understand why it is displaying another entry for removable drive(flash drive). but when I look at explorer by pressing win + E. It doesn't show this one.

I have Internet access through a wireless modem/router (2 Mbps DSL connection, wireless reception is excellent). I use Opera and when I turn on Opera turbo the same sites download fully. I tried changing to some other dns (opendns, google dns), but it made no difference. What would you suggest I try? OS : Windows 7 64 bit

  So, I have a couple of batch files that install some executables and they work, but when the executables setup shortcuts on the desktop only SYSTEM has access to them. Is there a way I can prevent that or make it so it adds Domain Users access or something like that.   VLC can download MMS streaming video using the following command... C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC>vlc mms://blah.akamaistream.net/mystreaming.wmv :demux=dump :demuxdump-file=mystreaming.ps ... but it downloads the show at the regular reading speed. For shows that last longer than a few minutes, I was wondering if someone could recommend a good, preferable free, download for Windows to speed downloading?
