• ASP.NET Performance, 100 "Memory Hard Faults" indiciate a memory swapping problem?

  With a customer web site we currently experiences performance problems. While analyzing the problem we found an unexpected amount of of 112 "Memory Hard Faults" per minute. Does anybody can interpret the meaning of this value? Does this happen, when memory swapping is necessary - so the root cause is not sufficient memory? Even if the CPU value seems high, it is not the main problem for the slow web site. Do you agree?

  After updating my ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 there only these to govenors available for my cpu, instead of additionally ondemand and conservative. cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors performance powersave My cpu is a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200M CPU @ 2.50GHz, my laptop a LENOVO B5400 80B6QB0 and my kernel version is 3.14.1-031401-generic x86_64 Before updating the four governors were available. If this is important, I have installed tlp and indicator-cpufreq. How do I get back the missing two govenors? ondemand is really important to me because of power saving.

Would it be more efficient to store an instance of the CFC in an application variable, then to instance each CFC separately on each page load. For each page, at most 2 separate CFCs get called. • Multiple Graphics Cards on Fedora 15 (Gnome 3)

  I have the (delightful) misfortune of having 3 graphics cards. They are XFX Radeon 5750s. Each drives 2 monitors via dvi. I am having a really hard time getting these running on fedora 15 (gnome 3). So my setup is 3 columns of 2 monitors (the upper monitor is mounted upside down in each column to reduce the bezel between monitors). When the (graphical) login screen comes up all 6 have the blue stripey background that must be the default, but then when I login, things get interesting. In the xorg.conf below, you will see only 2 of the screens in the serverlayout while the other 4 are commented out. Logging in with only 2 of the screens active works well (and it even remembers that the top one is upside down, and should be considered above the lower, i am not sure where it stores this info, but i set it using the graphical "Displays" settings) However, as soon as I uncomment a third screen, or more, it gives me an error message when I login. It's one of those friendly, less helpful messages (Oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please log out and try again). If i do not use an xorg.conf, then the "Displays" prefs pane shows only the two monitors on one of my graphics cards Thanks to anyone who can help me get going!   I am facing a performance issue while exporting data from DB2 to Excel 2003. Well the very first reason is file is about 10+ MB where it goes outofMemory Exception. I am using XLSTransformer and HSSFWorkbook classes to transform my xls file. I also have joins in my query( optional). But user most likely is going to choose these options. When they do so, of course, the data becomes huge and take lot of time and some times goes outOfMemory too. So Please advice me on this.

• Performance impact of the new mtmalloc memory allocator

  I wrote at a number of occasions (here or here), that it could be really beneficial to use a different memory allocator for highly-threaded workloads, as the standard allocator is well ... the standard, however not very effective as soon as many threads comes into play. I didn't wrote about this as it was in my phase of silence but there was some change in the allocator area, Solaris 10 got a revamped mtmalloc allocator in version Solaris 10 08/11 (as described in "libmtmalloc Improvements"). The new memory allocator was introduced to Solaris development by the PSARC case 2010/212. But what's the effect of this new allocator and how does it works? Rickey C. Weisner wrote a nice article with "How Memory Allocation Affects Performance in Multithreaded Programs" explaining the inner mechanism of various allocators but he also publishes test results comparing Hoard, mtmalloc, umem, new mtmalloc and the libc malloc. Really interesting read and a must for people running applications on servers with a high number of threads.

This led Temenos to conduct a performance benchmark, running its WealthManager platform on Oracle Exadata Database Machine. During the study, Temenos executed high-intensity financial engines two- to three-times faster than its previous internal benchmarks and/or largest customer throughput. The company also demonstrated greater than two-times the average improvement in response times for six-times the number of users and data volumes. Further, Temenos secured a two-times gain in service-level agreements for batch and user-oriented workloads via dedicated or parallelized processing windows. Last year Temenos also communicated the availability of its T24 core banking system and how the benchmark run demonstrated the ability of Oracle’s Exadata platform to comfortably support the highest banking volumes for T24.   I'm turning off the monitor using SendMessage(HWND_BROUADCART, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORRPOWER, 2). That works, but the monitor turns back on when someone touches the keyboard or mouse. I tried to get rid of this using the DevicePowerSetDeviceState function with DEVICEPOWER_CLEAR_WAKEENABLED for the keyboard and mouse: it returns no error, but has no effect either. How can I prevent the monitor from powering back on in Vista and Windows7?

• Large Sprite Performance

  I've got a large Sprite generated using a set of vertices(x,y coordinates) and a bitmap pattern (using moveTo, lineTo, beginBitmapFill, endFill ...etc). It's about 15000 pixels wide and between 1500 - 2000 pixels high depending on the level -it's the terrain for a 2D game. My question is: what is the best way to display/move it on the stage - performance wise? Currently I'm just adding it to the stage as is...I get decent frame rate/ memory/ cpu usage but I want to optimize it for slower PCs. Any ideas? I've been reading a little about blitting but I'm not sure how to implement it in my case. Thanks.

  Hello, I would like to buy a new Eee PC 1001HA or 1101HA. I know the max display resolution is: 1024x600 for eeePC 1001 and 1366x768 for eeePC 1101 But what's the max resolution of the graphic board when connecting these two types of eeePC to an external LCD monitor??? Let's say the external LCD monitor supports a full HD resolution of 1920x1080, are these eeePC graphic boards able to go up to such resolution??? It's really incredible to me, how such a useful information is missing everywhere on every ASUS website. Eee PC are very well suited to be connected to external monitor, so I can't believe how difficult is to find out this information. I downloaded aldo the manual, but it's not in there too. So I was hoping somone has got one and knows the answer. Thanks!

  I am looking into purchasing a dual-monitor setup, and need to purchase two monitors with VESA MIS-D mounts. My only problem is that that information doesn't seem to be readily available on most shopping websites. Neither Amazon nor Newegg seem to have the information searchable or filterable. I could shop for monitors, then Google around to see if they support VESA MIS-D, but is there a better way? Is there a resource (not necessarily a store - once I find a monitor I can shop elsewhere) where I can browse a variety of monitor specs and reviews while only looking at monitors with a certain VESA mount?

• Mouse Icon Distorted on Secondary Display

  I have a strange issue with a dual monitor, extended desktop setup where the mouse is always fine on the primary monitor, but sometimes when I move to the secondary display the icon becomes garbled and distorted (sometimes it just looks like a vertical line, instead of a pointer). If I move the mouse back and forth rapidly between primary and secondary displays the level of "garbledness" of the icon will change and sometimes go away completely. If I switch the display settings and set it to "Duplicate Monitor 1" then I end up with a garbled icon on the primary display and an accurate one on the secondary. Very annoying. Computer is Windows 7 Ultimate with an HD8750 and the newest video drivers. Monitors are two Dell 24" displays connected via DVI cables. I have also tried VGA cables.

• DVI to VGA adapter only working in one output

  I have a AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series graphics card which has 2 DVI outputs. I tried to set it up with 2 monitors which both have vga connectors on the end and used 2 dvi to vga adapters like these. http://www.tvcables.co.uk/images/items/vga-to-dvi.jpg For some reason nothing would reach the monitor, it would remain in standby, if it was plugged into the second output. I tried all the different combinations of cables, adapters and the 2 monitors but whichever monitor that was plugged into the second output wouldn't work. I then randomly decided to plug a different monitor into the second output which has a dvi connector on the end so there was no need for an adapter and plugged it in and it worked! Does anyone know why the second output on the graphics card won't work with a dvi to vga adapter (and the first output will)? I'm really confused! Thanks
