  • Fedora 10 setting up HPLIP for HP Deskjet F4488

    I had set up a newly purchased HP F4488 using HPLIP, I installed it on my Fedora 10 desktop and it worked fine for the past 2 days. Suddenly, it is failing to print. The scanner works and the photocopier works. When a print job is initialized there is an error and the printer gets disabled. What is the problem? Is there anything that I should fix additionally to make it work?

    When printing document in landscape mode using Microsoft Word 2007, it is print portrait and scaling (varies a little per printer). I made a new document with just text and the text is getting chopped even in print preview. It seems rather weird. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Disable header/footer printing from Chrome

    The Chrome browser doesn't have any settings for changing or disabling header and footer data that gets printed when you go File Print. Apparently this is being developed but until it is does anyone know how to disable this in Windows XP. Chrome on the Mac and Ubuntu doesn't do it so I assume it is down to a system setting that by default doesn't print header/footer information unless software over-rides this?

    I am trying to print a bitmap image on a zebra printer (TLP-2844-Z) and it comes out incredibly blurry and faint but when I print it on a laser printer it looks fine. Also, when I printer plain text to the zebra printer or the test page it comes out crystal clear. Is there something I am doing wrong?

I cannot run in XP compatibility mode with my version of Windows (Home Professional). Is there anything that can be done to get printing to work? Supposedly the solution is to install the optional Hard Drive. My question is: a) Does a hard drive on the printer make a significant difference? b) Can we use any old hard drive or do we have to use the rather pricey HP High performance EIO units?

  • iPhoto printing PDFs sideways

    When I print to PDF from iPhoto (7.1.5), my scans (which are all portrait) all end up sideways in the PDF file. I've searched high and low for some setting that will alter this. The only one that I could find that would plausibly affect this is the Layout menu item in the Print customisation view, but this has no effect. Even rotating the images doesn't change it. Why is iPhoto printing my PDFs sideways, and how do I get it to stop?

    One of my neighbors asked me to help them setup this old printer on their computer (thier other printer is broken) so after fighting with it for about an hour but to no avail. Every time I try to install it, windows just recognizes it a as "print to file printer" as in it will only print to an output file. It's kinda urgent so speedy help would be appreciated.

I tried the following: Restart the computer Restart the printer Delete the entry from the printing queue From the printing queue choose Printer\Cancel All Documents Right click the print job and choose Pause The status of the printing job now reads "Deleting - Paused - Printing". Nothing I do seems to get rid of this stuck printing job. What should I do?

  • Windows 7 Picture Printing. All pictures are landscape, when they should be Portrait

    I have recently upgraded from XP to 7 and I am having trouble printing out some pictures. In XP, if I were to select some pictures for printing the program would keep their orientation, and print them no problem. Now with Windows 7, even if I select 1 picture to print in the same (wallet size (35)) it rotates the picture. Is there anyway to rectify this within Windows? I did take a screenshot, but as a new user I can't post it.

Each table should fit on one page, but both Firefox and Safari want to break them over multiple pages and put more than one on a page.     I have tried this shell script on a SUSE 10 server, kernel 2.6.16.60, ext3 filesystem the script has problem like this: cat file | awk '{print $1" "$2" "$3}' | sort -n > result the file's size is about 3.2G, and I get such error message: File size limit exceeded in this shell, ulimit -f is unlimited after I change script into this cat file | awk '{print $1" "$2" "$3}' >tmp sort -n tmp > result the problem is gone. I don't know why, can anyone help me with an explanation?
