  • Having my Python package install shortcuts in Start menu

    I'm making a Python package that gets installed with a setup.py file using setuptools. The package includes a GUI, and when it's installed on a Windows machine, I want the installation to make a folder in "Programs" in the start menu, and make a shortcut there to a pyw script that will start the GUI. (The pyw think works on all platforms, right?) On Mac and Linux, I would like it to put this shortcut in whatever Mac and Linux have that is parallel to the start menu. How do I do this?

  • Best way to order menu items injected by an IoC/plugin Framework

    One of the common things I've seen done in applications built on IoC/plugin frameworks is to add commands to menus or toolbars from the dynamically loaded plugins. For example, the application's default plugins supply actions like "New, Open, Save" that show up in the context menu for a certain item in the workspace. A new plugin may add "Mail, Post, Encrypt" commands, but where do those commands show up in relation to "New, Open, Save"? How can the application that is loading components through IoC impose order on the items that get injected? Does it require metadata from the plugins that give a hint on how to group or order the items? Does it use a config file of previously known menu names (or ids) to define the order (seems a little weak to me)? Or are "unknown" plugins treated as second class citizens and always get dumped into sub menus? Something I've never even imagined (which I'm hoping to see in the answers)

  • Modifying the Google Drive menu interface

    So I'm working on a web-app for the Google Marketplace that's going to involve integration with Google Drive. Part of what I want to be able to do with the app involves something along the lines of adding a menu option to the Drive menu interface. For instance, you could be editing a document in drive and browse to File-"My new fancy option." Does anyone know if this is possible? Or if it is not, is there another way of adding this sort of custom action functionality where you are able to perform non Drive standard actions on files from within the Drive interface?

  • Cannot customize Solution Explorer project context menu in VS 2010

    I'm trying to customize that context menu which comes up when you right click the project in the Solution Explorer. When I goto: Tools - Customize - Commands - Context Menu (radio button) - Project and Solution Context Menus | Project (drop down) I get nothing in the "controls:" list. I can modify other context menus starting with "Project and Solution Context Menus" but none of them is the right one. Any ideas? Currently I have ReSharper, PowerTools and StyleCop installed, but I have installed and uninstalled bunch of other addins (dotTrace, CodeIt.Right, VisualHG, DevExpress, random stuff from Extension Manager).

  • Nothing displaying for Drupal main menu

    I'm trying to output the main_menu in to a custom theme on the page.tpl.php template however nothing is displaying when I add <?php print theme("links", $main_menu) ?> However when I do a var_dump on the $main_menu I get array(2) { ["menu-218"]=> array(2) { ["href"]=> string(7) "" ["title"]=> string(4) "Home" } ["menu-335"]=> array(2) { ["href"]=> string(6) "node/1" ["title"]=> string(4) "Home" } } What might I be doing wrong? In Vista, Window7 main.bmp is showing just fine. Also in English XP its ok. But why the image is not showing fully in non-English XP? How would I use .ico file here instead of .bmp? This is to make the image transparent.

  • How do I link a Navigation Menu to an already existing Sitemap

    I am just beginning my journey into web development and I have a very basic question, but I am none the less stumped. I have setup a new ASP.NET Empty Web Application. In this application, I have created a few *.aspx pages and a sitemap called 'Web.sitemap'. I have placed a SiteMapPath control onto my Master page and, with no further configuration, this detected my Web.sitemap and displays the location of the page on any *.aspx page which derives from the master page. However, whenever I add a Navigation Menu, this doesn't happen. When I bring up the Menu Tasks dialogue box, I can't select this from the Choose Data Source dropdown, my only option is to choose <New data source...> which brings up the Data Source Configuration Wizard, and from this I can create a new Site Map, however I want to use the already existing one. How do I go about this? Thanks

    I've seen a few questions like this, but mine is a bit more specific so I hope this isn't considered a repost. I am working on a website that is built with struts 2 and hibernate. I need to dynamically populate a drop down menu using data from a sql query based on an option selected in another drop down menu. So basically when the first option is selected I need to rehit the server and get the results from a query like SELECT column FROM table WHERE option = dropDownOption On top of that, I would really like to use ajax to only refresh the affected elements, however I'm really unfamiliar with ajax. I have jquery on this project and I found they have some ajax built in, but is this a good method for using it? any advice on this topic would be appreciated.

    I'm navigating from: Main activity to Activity 2 Activity 2 to Activity 3 Activity 3 to Activity 4 through Intent. I've also created the menu so that user can directly navigate from Activity 4 to Main activity. But after navigating from Activity 4 to Main activity by using menu, when I press back, it takes me to Activity 3 rather than exiting the application. I tried: @Override public void onBackPressed() { super.onBackPressed(); MainActivity.this.finish(); } But no gain. Any suggestions?

  • sub menu border calls onmouseout event

    I've created a simple menu and submenu with tags(not allowed to use ul elements). To access the submenu the user hovers their mouse over the menu item. I use the onmouseover and onmouseout events to either show or hide the sub menu depending on which item is selected. A pipe (|) is used to seperate each submenu item and this is what is causing me problems. When a user hovers their mouse above the pipe character the subMenu div calls the onmouseout event which is not what I want. So I added padding around the pipe character and a minus margin so that there were no gaps between the pipe character and the other elements. This worked for all browsers including IE8.   • Align text with right edge of an html form

    I have an html form where the width of a textarea is specified with cols=. I want the textarea to have a specific width in terms of number of characters. However, I also want some controls to be right-justified to the right edge of the textarea. They're not in the textarea, but directly above or below it. Is it possible to do this? I was thinking a possible approach might be enclosing the textarea with some type of container that could grow to the width of the textarea, but I'm not sure how I could right-justify text within that.

    I have a main site at site.com and several subdirectory "microsites" at site1.site.com, site2.site.com, etc. These are all on the same server. Each site is set up in its own folder under public_html and each with its own separate wordpress install. I'd like for each microsite to share the same top level menu (the page's menu) with the main site. I'm sure there are several approaches and I'd like to ask you for a few ideas. As an aside, I'd also like to ask if the new WordPress 3.0 beta would make this simpler to do (since it combines wordpress MU into the main wordpress core)

  • Is it possible to create a sub window which will not deactivate the parent?

    Normally when creating a sub window (WS_POPUP), the child window will become activate and the parent will become deactivated. However, with menus, both remain active. At least I am assuming the menu is active, it at least has focus. Example: Click on the file menu in notepad, the menu appears, yet the notepad window still looks active. Is it possible to mirror this behavior with either a window style or responding to a particular message? Thanks Another example: Combo boxes seem to show a subwindow, yet do not deactivate the window. And you can click on that subwindow, while still maintaining an activate main window. Any ideas on how to grab the class /style of that window?

    I am trying to create an option in the right-click menu that is dynamic based on the user's action. If the user selects some text, then right-clicks, the option will say "Display It". If the user right-clicks without selecting some text, the option will say "Select Some Text First" and be grayed out. I am wondering how do I achieve this? I currently have it so that the option will appear only when the user has selected some text. Later I retrieve it and display where all the clicks happened on that page. This works fine if I do all my clicks in one resolution, and then display it back in the same resolution, but this not the case. there can be large amounts of resolutions used. In my test case I was clicking on the screen with a screen resolution of 1260x1080. I retrieved all the data and displayed it in the same resolution. But when I use a different monitor (tried 1024x768 and 1920x1080. The marks shift to the incorrect spot. My question is, if I am storing the width and height of the client, and the x/y position of the click. If 3 different users all with different screen resolutions click on the same word, and a 4th user goes to view where all of those clicks happened, how can I plot the x/y position correctly to show that everyone clicked in the same space, no matter the resolution? If this belongs in a better section, please let me know as well.

  • Passing data to a jQuery click() function

    Hi I have a simple span like so <span class="action removeAction">Remove</span> This span is within a table, each row has a remove span. And then I call a URL using AJAX when that span is clicked. The AJAX event needs to know the ID of the object for that row? What is the best way of getting that ID into the click function? I thought I could do something like this <span class="action removeAction" id="1">Remove</span> But an ID should not start with a number? Right? Then I thought I could do <span class="action removeAction" id="my1">Remove</span> Then just strip the 'my' part from the ID, but that just seems Yuk!     I'm creating a next/previous function for my repeater using pageddatasource. I added the link button control dynamically in my oninit using the following code. LinkButton lnkNext = new LinkButton(); lnkNext.Text = "Next"; lnkNext.Click += new EventHandler(NextPage); if (currentPage != objPagedDataSource.PageCount) { pnlMain.Controls.Add(lnkNext); } So in my initial page_load, the next link comes up fine. There are 5 pages in my objPagedDataSource. currentPage variable is 1. The "NextPage" event handler looks like this public void NextPage(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (HttpContext.Current.Request.Cookies["PageNum"] == null) { HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie("PageNum"); cookie.Value = "1"; } else { HttpCookie cookie = HttpContext.Current.Request.Cookies["PageNum"]; cookie.Value = (Convert.ToInt32(cookie.Value) + 1).ToString(); } this.BindRepeater(); } So I am incrementing the cookie I am using to track the page number and then rebinding the repeater. Here is the main issue. The first time I click Next, it works, it goes to Page 2 without any problems. When on Page 2, I click Next, it goes back to Page 1. Seems like the Next event is not wiring up properly. Not sure why, any ideas?
