I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse. My Vista laptop does not have built-in bluetooth. Can anyone recommend a good bluetooth USB adaptor to make this thing work?
Thanks
I just upgraded a Vista machine to Windows 7. The machine is running Outlook 2007 SP2 with the KB970944 performance hot fix.
Now, syncing to the Exchange server can take 20 minutes, whereas it was very fast before the Windows 7 upgrade. I believe we're running Exchange 2003, but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyone else seeing this? Any fixes yet?
I want my Windows XP profile directory (C:\Documents and Settings\) to be versioned, like with Vista Shadow Copies.
What's the best way to accomplish this? Would putting the whole thing under a DVCS like Bazaar or Git be a good way to go? Which one would be best?

I have a Java application in a .jar-file. I can start it by typing java -jar myapp.jar and the application starts, but if I double-click on the .jar-file, nothing happens. What can be wrong? How can I fix this? I use Windows Vista.
My Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop features the Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 processor. When I bought it, it came preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Basic, 32-bit. I'm considering upgrading it to Windows 7 Home Premium, but I don't know whether I should order the 64-bit or 32-bit version. The information I found on the web has been confusing.
Does anyone know if my laptop supports 64-bit OS?
I have a Dell XPS 420. I've installed Windows 7 RTM (x64)
I have this audio device: SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio
I have tried using the windows 7 basic driver, and also the Vista 64-bit driver from Dell's website (details):
Date: 10/29/2007
Version: 6.10.0.5511, A04
File Size: 7 MB
With both drivers, I get normal stereo sound from the driver, but my 5.1 surround sound doesn't work. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix?

Windows Vista introduced ReadyBoost which lets you use a Flash drive as a third (after RAM and HD) type of memory.
It occurred to me that I could boost peformance on an old PC here w/ Win XP (32 bit, max'd at 4GB RAM) by putting it's swap file (page file) on a flash drive.
(Now, before anyone comments: apparently Flash drives (10-30MB/s transfer rates) are slower than HDD (100+ MB/s) (I'm asking that as a separate question on this forum).
I have some old classic asp scripts. They used to work on my 2003/IIS 6 server. But on my Vista/IIS 7 and now Windows 7 Ultimate/IIS 7 server the asp pages don't work.
I did what they said here: Deploying a Classic ASP Server (IIS 7) (Microsoft TechNet).
I enabled those 3 features in IIS 7 but that just went from getting 404 to 500 error.
Mac and Windows Vista have such pretty user interfaces with all the transparencies and stuff. Is there anything for Ubuntu Linux to improve the way it looks?
I'm considering upgrade from Postgres 8.3.3 to 8.4.2 on my machine (it has Windows Vista).
Windows Installer (one click installer) for Postgres 8.4.2 that can be downloaded from enterprisedb.com offers only fresh install (it does not recognizes my current installation of v8.3.3).
Is it possible to upgrade with all existing databases converted and visible (automatically migrated?) in new version just after upgrade? Or I have to do something more - backup/restore all my databases manually?
Hello, after a lovely blue screen my vista 64 machine decided to reconfigure one of my drives to no longer be part of my raid volume. So now my raid fails as it only has one member disk. This happened to me about 6 months ago and I just changed the disk in question back to a raid disk and all was well. However I cant seem to find that option in my bios or raid config anymore :(
Any help would be appreciated
Can anyone point to a document that describes how to print from a Max OS 10.5.8 to an HP Photosmart C3180 series print connected to Windows 7. I can’t get anything but nonsense to print. I was able to do this with Windows XP, could not do it with Vista and am now hopping to get it done with System 7. HP has been no help at all. Apparently nobody who works for them knows anything about both computers.

Environment : Win-Vista 64 BIT
Graphics Processor / Vendor NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Video Memory 256 MB
Total Available Graphics Memory 1535 MB
What happens is, i can use the laptop in "basic theme" ONLY, the moment i enable any aero theme, the screen tears up, discoloration appears & then laptop freezes. Sometimes its reboot itself with Blue Screen shows up the gfx card error.
Any way around, highly appreciated.
Like how it used to be in Vista and XP, right next to the start menu on the bottom left as opposed to the bottom right as it is now in 7. I just upgraded and I'm finding it tough to adjust.
An application I use regularly is command-line based, and I would like to add the most used commands in the Windows Explorer's context menu that pops up when right-clicking on a file or folder.
From what I read, a lot of programs in that menu are COM applications.
Is there an easier way to add commands to the menu, as an alternative to opening a DOS box and typing commands? Ideally, it should work for XP, Vista, and 7.
Hi,
How can I configure windows to use a USB modem like I can do it on linux (http://forumz.in/1799-how-use-reliance-broadband-netconnect-ubuntu-linux/)
I need to bypass the std dialer software provided by the vendor, its exceptionally buggy/irksome and not easy to automate.
EDIT:
OS: Windows Vista (Home basic)
Modem: ZTE AC871 or may be AC8710
How to remove unwanted entries in the grub boot loader?
There is still an entry for vista even if its not existing anymore. And the Memtest entry its also not needed. How do I remove those from ubuntu 10.04
I have just installed ColdFusion 9 Developer Edition on My Windows Vista machine for development purposes. Unfortunately I have yet to locate any documentation or tutorials as to where I place my files and how to view them in a browser. A point in the right direction would be appreciated.
FYI, I also have WAMP installed.
I supervise the use of a 'community' desktop computer. I would like to allow the use of the desktop via an external drive to a specific individual.
How do I secure the internal hard drive so that no access is possible while using the external drive? Primarily I want to avoid accidental modification of the hard drive.
The desktop runs Vista. The external is Ubuntu.
What is the best app for supporting multiple monitors in Windows 7? Ultra mon was perfect in Vista and XP but I don't think it works with Windows 7 yet. The main features I'm looking for are:
Taskbar for each monitor with only the apps that are running there. This might not be doable based on how the Windows 7 taskbar works now.
A button next to Minimize to send the window to the other monitor
Separate wallpapers for each monitor
I'm running an Asus Eee PC with Windows 7 Starter Edition I already have the Linksys print server set up for my Windows Vista laptop.
When I open the setup wizard on the Eee PC, as soon as I click on "set up computer" I get a prompt:
The OS not support
There don't seem to be any Win 7 drivers on Linksys' website (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WPSM54G/download)
