  Can someone write a function for me on RoR , i simply don't have the time to study Ruby and RoR for just one time use. The function should do the following things : 1) have an array with variables 2) for each variable in the array execute 4-5 other functions get the results and insert them in another table in the same DB table name - refined CityName varchar Subdomain varchar = the varriable in the array Nearby text State varchar ZipCodes text AreaCodes text Some of the functions return arrays. i will really apreciate the help !   So for my programming class we have had a project to create a virtual machine including a memory unit, cpu, Input, Output, Instruction Register, Program Counter, MAR, MDR and so on. Now we need to create a compiler using Java Code that will take a .exe file written in some txt editor and convert it to java byte code and run the code. The code we will be writing in the .exe file is machine code along the lines of: IN X IN Y ADD X STO Y OUT Y STOP DC X 0 DC Y 0 I am just a beginner and only have 2 days to write this and am very lost and have no idea where to start....Any Help will be much appreciated.   Hi All, I have this custom written CMS built on XAMPP. I'm trying to test the same on lighttpd to benchmark the so-called performance gains... but am stuck at the rewrite rules. I use the default rewrite rules of WordPress in my .htaccess which hands all url parsing over to my script as long as there aren't any files or directories same as the URL structure. Here's the code: RewriteBase /somedir/ # Let the Script handle all pretty URLs RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule .* index.php [L] Can anyone please help me translate the same to the lighttpd format? I could only (partially) figure out the last line myself going through the lighty docs ... i.e. url.rewrite-once = ( ".*" => "index.php" ) But that of course won't suffice... The problem is that I got "some" images with the class "button-banc" and I want this behaive: When you pass the mouse over, "only the actual image" should jump. The problem is that with the code I posted, every image jumps. How can I achieve this, please help; I want to make a generic way, so that if I add images with the class, they also behaive like that. Three pieces: store procedure, table1, table2 Table 1 stores most recent data for specific IDs Customer_id status_dte status_cde app_dte 001 2010-04-19 Y 2010-04-19 Table 2 stores history of data for specific customer IDs: For example: Log_id customer_Id status_dte status_cde 01 001 2010-04-20 N 02 001 2010-04-19 Y 03 001 2010-04-19 N 04 001 2010-04-19 Y The stored proecure currently throws an error if the status date from table1 is < than app_date in table1. If @status_dte < app_date Error Note: @status_dte is a variable stored as the status_dte from table1 However, I want it to throw an error when the EARLIEST status_dte from table 2 with a status_cde of 'Y' is less than the app_dte column in table 1. Keep in mind that this earliest date is not stored anywhere, the history of data changes per customer. Another customer might have the following history. Log_id customer_Id status_dte status_cde 01 002 2010-04-20 N 02 002 2010-04-18 N 03 002 2010-04-19 Y 04 002 2010-04-19 Y Any ideas on how I can approach this?

  Hello everybody I need some help in auditing in Oracle. We have a database with many tables and we want to be able to audit every change made to any table in any field. So the things we want to have in this audit are: user who modified time of change occurred old value and new value so we started creating the trigger which was supposed to perform the audit for any table but then had issues... As I mentioned before we have so many tables and we cannot go creating a trigger per each table. So the idea is creating a master trigger that can behaves dynamically for any table that fires the trigger. I was trying to do it but no lucky at all....it seems that Oracle restricts the trigger environment just for a table which is declared by code and not dynamically like we want to do. Do you have any idea on how to do this or any other advice for solving this issue? thanks in advance.

  Hi there.. So I have never attempted to use a cookie and was wondering if someone could possibly help me with some functionality I am trying to achieve.. Essentially I have a jQuery function that is fired when a user visits a webpage. What I would like to do is make it to where that animation only plays once.. Possibly leveraging some cookie that would tell it not to play again for x amount of days. I noticed that alot of people having questions about cookies and jQuery have been mentioned the following cookie plugin, but I dont even really know how to leverage it. Any ideas? Right now the animation is: $('#header, #footer, #secondary-column').fadeTo(600, 1); I would assume that if I could set a cookie to tell it the following: $('#header, #footer, #secondary-column').fadeTo(0, 1);

• Help required in adding new methods, properties into existing classes dynamically

  Hi All, I am not sure whether it is possible to achieve this kind of implementation in Dot Net. Below are the information Currently we are on an application which is done in COM+, ASP, XSL, XML technologies. It is a multi tier architecture application in which COM+ acts as the BAL. The execution steps for any CRUD operation will be defined using a seperate UI which uses XML to store the information. BAL reads the XML and understands the execution steps which are defined and executes corresponding methods in DLL. Much like EDM we have our custom model (using XML) which determines which property of object is searchable, retrievable etc. Based on this information BAL constructs queries and calls procedures to get the data. In the current application both BAL and DAL are heavily customizable without doing any code change. the results will be transmitted to presentation layer in XML format which constructs the UI based on the data recieved. Now I am creating a migration project which deals with employee information. It is also going to follow the N Tier architecture in which the presentation layer communicates with BAL which connects to DAL to return the Data. Here is the problem, In our existing version we are handling every information as XML in its native form (no converstion of object etc), but in the migration project, Team is really interested in utilizing the OOP model of development where every information which is sent from BAL need to be converted to objects of its respective types (example employeeCollection, Address Collection etc). If we have the static number of data returned from BAL we can have a class which contains those nodes as properties and we can access the same. But in our case the data returned from our BAL need to be customized. How can we handle the customization in presentation layer which is converting the result to an Object. We will not provide the source code for the same. Now when the consultants or customers does customization(example adding country to address and adding passport information object with employee object) they must be able to access those properties in these classes, but without source code they will not be able to do those modifications.which makes the application useless. Is there is any way to acomplish this in DotNet. I thought of using Anonymous classes but, the problem with Anonymous classes are we can not have methods in it. I am not sure how can i fit the collection objects (which will be inturn an anonymous class) Not sure about datagrid / user control binding etc. I also thought of using CODEDom to create classes runtime but not sure about the meory, performance issues. also the classes must be created only once and must use the same till there is another change. Kindly help me out in this problem. Any kind of help meterial/ cryptic code/ links will be helpful.

By selecting the Country from the Filled Country Combo Box, the hidden Combo Box that is the Cities Combo Box visible to true and filled with those cities that the user selected the country from the country combo box...   I've been trying to come up with something for a while now to no avail. My MySQL knowledge is rudimentary at best so I could use some guidance on what I should use for the following: I have 2 tables ('bible' and 'books') that I need to search from. Right now I am just searching 'bible' with the following query: SELECT * FROM bible WHERE text LIKE '%" . $query . "%' ORDER BY likes DESC LIMIT $start, 10 Now, I need to add another part that searches for some pretty advanced stuff. Here is what I want to do in pseudocode which I am aware doesn't work: SELECT * FROM bible WHERE books.book+' '+bible.chapter+':'+bible.verse = '$query' $query would equal something like Genesis 1:2, Genesis coming from books.book, 1 coming from bible.chapter and 2 coming from bible.verse Any help/guidance on this is much appreciated =)

• Would Mercurial help me work from 2 PCs?

  I currently use Perforce for source control, but want to start working on the code from 2 different PCs at the same time (desktop and laptop). The laptop would not be able to access the perforce server very often, which makes Perforce a poor choice in this setup. Distributed source control tools like Mercurial seem better suited to the task, but I am still not clear if this would work or not. Does anyone have any experience of using Mercurial to work on 2 machines at once (eg desktop in the week, laptop in evening and weekends). Does it help, or is it still a pain the butt keeping everything in sync and knowing what is going on.

  I have a struct like this: struct db { string name,sur; int num; }; And declared an array of db structs: struct db a[10]; and every member of a[] is filled with a name, surname and a number but there can be the same number appearing multiple times. I need to sort the numbers, and print the results, i.e. sort by the num of each struct and the print the name, sur and the num in each line starting from the smallest num going down to the largest. I don't know how to do this, please help me.

  I have installed will_paginate and acts_as_ferret on my system for ruby rails. My paginate seems to work fine before installing acts_as_ferret. When I put in the code to do searching I get the following error: NoMethodError in Community#search Showing app/views/community/_result_summary.rhtml where line #3 raised: undefined method `total_entries' for []:Array Extracted source (around line #3): 1: <% if @users %> 2: <p> 3: Found <%= pluralize(@users.total_entries, "match") %>. 4: </p> 5: <% end %> If I take out the search function, paginate works but it's pointless because I can't do searches.   Previously, on StackOverflow ... (Summarized) I need to capture all requests, for a particluar subdomain .. and rewrite their destination. Now, the trick to determining the host via regex was solved. Now, i need to make sure all requests to the root index page is rewritten, but i can't figure out the correct regex to find the 'homepage' / website root. this is what i have.... <if header="HTTP_HOST" match="^foo\.mydomain\.com\.au(?::\d+)?/?$"> <!-- snip some other rewrites, eg./buying/product -> ~/Pages/Foo/Bar.aspx --> <rewrite url="^/$" to="~/Pages/SomeWeirdFolder/Home.aspx" processing="stop"/> </if> Now if one of the rewrites were not found, then it falls through and continues. So .. can anyone please help?

  Yes, I've read and done teh Google many times but I still can't get this working... maybe I'm an idiot :) I have a system using tickets. Start date is "created_at" in the timestamps. Each ticket closes 7 days after "created_at". In the model, I'm using: def closes (self.created_at + 7.days) end I'm trying to create another method that will take "closes" and return it as how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds are left before the ticket closes. Anyone want to help and/or admonish my skills? ;)

  OK for the past 10 days I have been trying to figure out where to begin learning website development a dynamic one, So far everyone told me you should start with computer science and I am like What the @#$% how am I suppose to learn computer science without going to school and get a degree but I don't want a degree I just want to learn how to devlope websites. So now I am here and confused about how to put together a website. I get HTML and CSS but still have some problems designing the site now on the other had I am having trouble trying to figure out how php and database mysql is used to put together a website. I have seen videos from lynda.com and still have no Idea after I have watched the video the basic one, one that teach you the Variables, Loops, Strings ext... ok than what happens, how do you build the website with it, that is the question I am real not understand the answer to. • Looking for some help with GWT/Derby in Eclipse

  I'm attempting to learn AJAX via this site. I've made it down to the section where it says "you must put the code in the onModuleLoad()" (right above listing 4). I found two areas in my Eclipse project that mention onModuleLoad(): slicr.java and the actual EntryPoint.class file in the gwt-user.jar/com.google.gwt.core.client package. When I try to add the contents of listing for to slicr.java, I get tons of cannot be resolved to a type errors and I cant add anything to EntryPoint.class as it appears to be locked from editing. I really appreciate any help someone could give me!

My apologies if I come off as being extremely lazy but I need to make efficient use of my time and make sure am not just swallowing any garbage of the web. Therefore I am looking for the best and most informative and with a fair bit of detail for the Reflection chapter in .Net. Reflection is something that comes up time and time again and I want to extend my reading from what I know already from the official 70-536 book.
