  • Problem merging similar XML files with XSL

    - by LOlliffe
    I have two documents that I need to merge, that happen in a way that I don't seem to be able to find covered in other examples. Namely, that it needs to match not only on a node's attribute at one level, but also on the value of an attribute a node level below that, to get that node's value. I'm trying to take this sample: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <marc:collection xmlns:marc="http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">12345</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Art</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="949" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="i">Review of conference proceedings</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">54321</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Byzantine</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> </marc:collection> And when the value of "datafield" '035', "subfield" 'a' matches e.g. "12345" <marc:collection xmlns:marc="http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim" xmlns:fn="http://www.w3.org/2005/xpath-functions" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format"> <marc:record> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="035"> <marc:subfield code="a">12345</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Dietrichson, Lorentz, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> <marc:record> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="035"> <marc:subfield code="a">54321</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Lange, Julius Henrik, 1838-1896</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> </marc:collection> The result should be: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <marc:collection xmlns:marc="http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">12345</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Art</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Dietrichson, Lorentz, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="949" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="i">Review of conference proceedings</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">54321</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Byzantine</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Lange, Julius Henrik, 1838-1896</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> </marc:collection> I've tried using examples that I've found that did lookups, but none of them seemed to work. I didn't include any of my XSL, because all of my results were disasterous. I keep looking at it, like it must be simple, but I'm just not getting any decent results. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • How do I construct a more complex single LINQ to XML query?

    - by Cyberherbalist
    I'm a LINQ newbie, so the following might turn out to be very simple and obvious once it's answered, but I have to admit that the question is kicking my arse. Given this XML: <measuresystems> <measuresystem name="SI" attitude="proud"> <dimension name="mass" dim="M" degree="1"> <unit name="kilogram" symbol="kg"> <factor name="hundredweight" foreignsystem="US" value="45.359237" /> <factor name="hundredweight" foreignsystem="Imperial" value="50.80234544" /> </unit> </dimension> </measuresystem> </measuresystems> I can query for the value of the conversion factor between kilogram and US hundredweight using the following LINQ to XML, but surely there is a way to condense the four successive queries into a single complex query? XElement mss = XElement.Load(fileName); IEnumerable<XElement> ms = from el in mss.Elements("measuresystem") where (string)el.Attribute("name") == "SI" select el; IEnumerable<XElement> dim = from e2 in ms.Elements("dimension") where (string)e2.Attribute("name") == "mass" select e2; IEnumerable<XElement> unit = from e3 in dim.Elements("unit") where (string)e3.Attribute("name") == "kilogram" select e3; IEnumerable<XElement> factor = from e4 in unit.Elements("factor") where (string)e4.Attribute("name") == "pound" && (string)e4.Attribute("foreignsystem") == "US" select e4; foreach (XElement ex in factor) { Console.WriteLine ((string)ex.Attribute("value")); }

  • How to convert XML to a HTML table using XSL for-each

    - by Meeeee
    I am trying to convert some XML with XSL, to make the output look better and more readable for other users. I have some XML along the lines of: <G> <OE> <example1>Sample 1</example1> <example2>Sample 2</example2> <var name="name1"> <integer>1</integer> </var> </OE> </G> I want to get all the details from it and display it in a table so I use the following XSL code: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" > <xsl:template match="/"> <html> <body> <h2>Heading</h2> <table border="1"> <tr bgcolor="#3399FF"> <th>Example 1</th> <th>Example 2</th> <th>Var name</th> <th>Int</th> </tr> <xsl:for-each select="G/OE"> <xsl:for-each select="var"> <tr> <td> <xsl:value-of select="Example 1" /> </td> <td> <xsl:value-of select="Example 2" /> </td> <td> <xsl:value-of select="@name" /> </td> <td> <xsl:value-of select="integer" /> </td> </tr> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:for-each> </table> </body> </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> I know that the following XSL won't work properly. I want the output to be: Sample 1, Sample 2, name1, 1 - in a table format. My problem is I don't know how to do this. In the above XSL code it will only retrieve var and integer. If I only use the top <xsl:for-each>, then only the first two are retrieved. I have tried moving the 2nd <xsl:for-each> after the first to have been selected, so between: <td><xsl:value-of select="Example 2"/></td> and <td><xsl:value-of select="@name"/></td> I get an error. Is there any way to solve this problem? Thanks for the help.

  • Problems parsing Google Data Booksearch API XML in Ruby

    - by FrogBot
    I'm trying to parse some XML I've gotten from the Google Data Booksearch API and I'm having trouble trying to target a specific element. Currently my code looks like so: require 'gdata' client = GData::Client::BookSearch.new feed = client.get("http://books.google.com/books/feeds/volumes?q=Foundation").to_xml books = [] feed.elements.each('entry') do |entry| book = { :title => entry.elements['title'].text, :author => entry.elements['dc:creator'].text, :book_id => entry.elements['dc:identifier'].text } books.push(book) end p books and that all works fine, but I want to add a thumbnail URL to the book hash. The tag with each book's thumbnail URL looks like so: <feed> <entry> ... <link rel="http://schemas.google.com/books/2008/thumbnail" type="image/x-unknown" href="http://bks6.books.google.com/books?id=ID5P7xbmcO8C&printsec=frontcover&img=1&zoom=5&edge=curl&source=gbs_gdata"/> ... </entry> </feed> I want to grab the contents of the href attribute from this element and I'm not exactly sure how. Can anyone help me out here?

  • Android vertical line xml

    - by Kaspa
    Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to define a verical line (1px thick) to be used as a drawable. to make a horizontal one, it's pretty straightforward: <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:shape="line"> <stroke android:width="1dp" android:color="#0000FF"/> <size android:height="50dp" /> </shape> The question is, how to make this line vertical? Yes, there are workarounds, such as drawing a rectangle shape 1px thick, but that complicates the drawable xml, if it consists of multiple <item> elements. Anyone had any chance with this?

  • Merging/filling pdf form file with xml data

    - by Giorgi
    Hello, Let's say I have a pdf form file available at website which is filled by the users and submitted to the server. On the server side (Asp.Net) I would like to merge the data that I receive in xml format with the empty pdf form that was filled and save it. As I have found there are several possible ways of doing it: Using pdf form created by adobe acrobat and filling it with itextsharp. Using pdf form created by adobe acrobat and filling it with FDF Toolkit .net (which seems to be using itextsharp internally) Usd pdfkt to fill the form. Use pdf form file created with adobe livecycle and merge the data by using Form Data Integration Service As I have no experience with this kind of task can you advise which option would be better/easier and give some additional tips? Thank you in advance.

    I have a "global variable" XML schema in TIBCO BusinessWorks. It's simpler than it looks - basically just a single repeatable node. Image: Tibco globals. (old URL redacted) Various processes in the system can update this list. Checking to see if they are listed is easy: $GetVariable/subscriber-list/subscriber = $_processContext/ns:ProcessContext/ProcessId Adding themselves to the list is pretty easy too, using a Set Variable activity (see bottom half of image) But how can a process remove itself from the list? I'm sure there's a type of mapping I can use to filter out the node I want and let the rest through?

  • Best practices for defining and initializing variables in web.xml and then accessing them from Java

    - by DutrowLLC
    I would like to define and initialize some variables in web.xml and the access the values of these variables inside my Java application. The reason I want to do this is because I would like to be able to change the values of these variables without having to recompile the code. What is the best practice for doing this? Most of the variables are just strings, maybe some numbers as well. Does the class that accesses the variables have to be a servlet? Thanks! Chris

  • Append XML string block WITH NAMESPACE REF to existing XmlDocument in .NET

    - by FT
    I have an xml document (XmlDocument) which looks like this... <stuff xmlns:n="hhtp://tempuri.com/"> </stuff> ... and a "fragment" (string) which looks like this <things> <thing n:type="info"> </thing> </things> I want to "inject" the fragment into the main document. How? (HINT: You can't use XmlDocumentFragment because the namespace 'n' isn't declared in the fragment, and the object model complains about this - throwing an 'unknown namespace' error even though the resultant document will be perfectly valid.)

  • Flex - How to call a webservice without crossdomain.xml file

    - by Stephane Grenier
    How can I consume a webservice that hasn't explicitely created a crossdomain.xml? I understand it's for security and to prevent cross-site scripting, but it does seem like a major limitation to the Flex framework. For example, if I want to consume a webservice, which is suppose to be language agnostic, then I can't with Flex. The webservice/server has to be specifically prepared for Flex/Flash. If it's not, then it cannot be consumed. That can't be right can it?

  • XmlDocument from LINQ to XML query

    - by Ben
    I am loading an XML document into an XDocument object, doing a query and then returning the data through a web service as an XmlDocument object. The code below works fine, but it just seems a bit smelly. Is there a cleaner way to take the results of the query and convert back to an XDocument or XmlDocument? XDocument xd = XDocument.Load(Server.MapPath(accountsXml)); var accounts = from x in xd.Descendants("AccountsData") where userAccounts.Contains(x.Element("ACCOUNT_REFERENCE").Value) select x; XDocument xd2 = new XDocument( new XDeclaration("1.0", "UTF-8", "yes"), new XElement("Accounts") ); foreach (var account in accounts) xd2.Element("Accounts").Add(account); return xd2.ToXmlDocument();
