  • Remove stateful EJB bean in client

    I'm currently learning EJB and as I understand when client gets a stateful session bean the server keeps it in memory(or passivates it) until the client removes the bean. Pretty simple, except nowhere I have seen any examples of how the client can actually remove the bean. How do you do that other than shutting down your client application? Or do I just have to implement a reset method in all my stateful beans if I want to start over?

  • Return tiff file from outputstream on JSP

    I am using a JSP to display a single TIFF file. The flow is as follows: I am given a PDF to convert to a TIFF. I feed a 'black box' API the PDF in the form of a File object and an OutputStream (I am currently using a ByteArrayOutputStream but that can change as needed. The 'black box' converts the PDF to a TIFF and saves the result to the OutputStream. I use out.println(outputstream) to spit out the TIFF. The problem is that I am getting a text stream instead of a displayed image. I have used the following head/meta tag: <head><title>PDF to TIFF tester</title> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Script-Type" CONTENT="image/tiff"></head> <body> But that does not change the end result. Any help?

  • Request attributes in jsf / icefaces behaves strange (survive request end)

    I have the following code in a listener method: FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestMap().put("time", new Date()); When a button is clicked the following code is executed System.out.println(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestMap().get("time")); One could except that "time" is null when the listener was not executed while processing the current request, but: it seems like the "time" object survives the request processing. So when "time" has been set sometimes in the past it stays there... can anybody explain this? Thanks.

  • Any "trick" to use some keys to launch an application?

    Hello, I am currently developing an free application (TaskOS ) that allow users to have multitasking and switch easily between applications on their mobile ( like alt+tab in Windows ) That work pretty well and user can launch my application by a long press on the "search" button" by adding this line in the manifest: <action android:name="android.intent.action.SEARCH_LONG_PRESS" /> I also succeed to allow to the users to Use the camera button ( they can of course disable that in application settings) and the way to do that is slighlty different: <receiver android:name=".CameraPressed"> <intent-filter android:priority="10000"> <action android:name="android.intent.action.CAMERA_BUTTON"/> </intent-filter> I am now wondering if there are other ways to launch easily my task switcher? ( long press on Home key, long press on trackball, or any other idea.) Reading the Google documentation does not help me a lot. Any other idea/suggestion would be warmly welcome. Christophe

    I realise there are EL and near EL frameworks like StringTemplate, JUEL, Velocity, etc. However, I am not asking for list of alternatives to JSTL/EL. I came across a package more than a year ago, someone who wrote a util that emulates the functionality of JSP for non-servlet env, i.e., JSP composition which does not need a "servlet container" to function. I ignored it and now I think it would be helpful to me and I need help to recall what it is. My actual motivation is similar to what StringTemplate, JUEL, Velocity would offer to help me compose SQL blocks, HTML blocks but I am thinking that JSPs are precompiled into bytecode and JSPs are more run-time efficient since run-time parsing is done no more than once. So actually, recommendation for alternatives would be acceptable as long as the templates are precompiled into bytecode. But I still prefer the JSP emulator.

    I have a problem in my project that i am displaying a activity which would contain the details of the project which is previously added in Project Management System.. Now the fields in it are like: Fields of the Activity Name Of Project: ABC(EditText) Name Of Developer : ________(Spinner) Deadline : ________(Date Picker) Created On : _______(TextView) . . Now, the Spinner contains the Names of all developers working in the Company..I have used the ArrayAdapter with a array having the names of all the developers which is fetched from the database.. The problem is that when i update the Name Of Developer field, i get Only the Name of the Developer which is not enough to update the data as their can be multiple developers with the same name in the Company..So now I require the id of the developers to update it.. How to store that id of the developers with the Spinner so that i can achieve this.. Please help me to sort this out. Actually what i want to do like is as that we do in html:: <select> <option id="1">Developer1</option> <option id="2">Developer2</option> <option id="3">Developer2</option> <option id="4">Developer2</option> </select> where the id attached would be the database id....I want to imitate this in our android....   • How to change the BlackBerry volume, or mute it?

    My current code is this: int volume = Alert.getVolume(); // reads 100 Alert.setVolume(0); It DOESN'T change the volume setting, like it would be supposed to do :( Even calling Alert.mute(true) doesn't produce any good effect. Audio.setVolume(0) also doesn't work! I'm running this on a Curve 8310. I have another software installed though that successfully manages to lower the volume setting a lot...so I suppose I'm doing something wrong. Any idea?

  • Array not showing in Jlist but filled in console

    I have webservices deployed on two containers in two separate servers A and B. A webMethod in 'Server A' needs to invoke a webmethod in 'Server B'. I have created a client stub for Sever B. Im trying to make 'Server A' use this client stub and talk to Server B. I get an exception while trying to instantiate the port object specifically at : service.getABCBeanPort(); (using JAX-WS library) Is my approach correct? Is there any better way of invoking a webservice on a remote server?

  • What would be the light way to render a JSP page without an App/Web Server

    First, some background: I will have to work on code for a JSP that will demand a lot of code fixing and testing. This JSP will receive a structure of given objects, and render it according to a couple of rules. What I would like to do, is to write a "Test Server" that would read some mock data out of a fixtures file, and mock those objects into a factory that would be used by the JSP in question. The target App Server is WebSphere and I would like to code, change, code in order to test appropriate HTML rendering. I have done something similar on the past, but the JSP part was just calling a method on a rendering object, so I created an Ad Hoc HTTP server that would read the fixture files, parse it and render HTML. All I had to do was run it inside RAD, change the HTML code and hit F5. So question pretty much goes down to: Is there any stand alone library or lightweight server (I thought of Jetty) that would take a JSP, and given the correct contexts (Request, Response, Session, etc.) render the proper HTML?

  • How can a link within a WebView load another layout using javascript?

    So I have 2 layout files (main.xml, featured.xml) and both each have a single WebView. When the application starts "main.xml" loads a html file into it's WebView. In this html file I have a link that calls javascript that runs code in the Activity that loaded the html. Once back in this Activity code though I try running setContentView(R.layout.featured) but it just bombs out on me. If I debug it just dies without any real error and if I run it the application just Force closes. I will described my case study that I have simplified like these: My Server Socket will always listen client socket. While some request message come from the client socket, the server emulator will response the client through the socket. the response is response code. '00' will describe request message processed successfully, and another response code expect '00' will describe there are some error while processing the message request. IN the server there are some UI, this UI contain check response parameter such as. response code timeout interval While the server want to response the client message, the response code taken from input parameter response form UI check the timeout interval, it will create sleep thread and the interval taken from timeout interval input from UI. I have implement the function, but I create it in one class. I feel it so sucks. Can you suggest me what class / interface that I must create to refactor my code.

  • Is there any danger in committing to a component library such as SmartGwt or Swing?

    Since February this year I have been working on an app that's built using SmartGWT components. Generally, I find the components very nice to work with, and the fact that they're open source and free to use is just fantastic. However, I can't seem to shake the feeling that it's not a durable way of developing, but I can't quite explain why. Maybe it's because I know that any minute now the team developing it could decide to stop, which would leave me and my team in a bit of a pickle, but I'm sure there must be something more. I have been trying to find ways of explaining this feeling to myself, but to no avail. Therefore I turn to you, dear community, to ask if you can come up with a good reason why committing to building your app (that's supposed to be around for many more years to come) using a component library such as SmartGWT is a bad idea? Is there any reason I should just have developed the components myself? Or did I make the right choice when deciding not to reinvent the wheel and just go for what was readily available?
