• Perl : how to interrupt/resume loop by user hitting a key?

  Hi all: This is for debugging purpose. I've got a for loop that generates some output to Cygwin bash's CLI. I know that I can redirect outputs to text files and use Perl or even just a normal text editor to inspect the values printed out for a particular iteration, just feel that a bit painful. What I am now thinking is, to place a special subroutine inside the for loop, so that it would be "interrupted" at the beginning of each iteration, and Perl script should only resume to run after user/programmer hits a key(the Enter Key from keyboard?) In this way I can directly inspect the values printed out during each iteration. Is there a simple way to do this, without using additional libraries/CPAN ? I dont want to call the Twitter API while the tests run. Is there any Mocking Framework wich can do such things?

• When to override OnError?

  I'm looking into re-working and simplifying our error handling in an application I support. We currently have all of our pages inheriting from a base class we created, which in turn obviously inherits from System.Web.UI.Page. Within this base class, the OnError method is currently being overridden, and in turn calling MyBase.OnError, and then calling one of our custom logging methods. I don't see any benefit of overriding the OnError method, and I think it would be better to let the Application_Error method in the Global.asax take care of the unhandled exception (logging it) and then the customErrors section in the config would trigger a process to redirect the user. Looking online it looks like people override this method quite frequently, but I don't see a need to and this article from MSDN makes me think the same.

• ajax/jquery disables links after submit

  i am working on this form. i am using lightbox and dhtml fade effects. the content in my lightbox is a form. i am using jquery to validate the form. once the form is submitted, i redirect a user back to a thank you page. what i am noticing is that, once all the above events has taken place, i cannot click anywhere on my screen, all the links/buttons are sort of disable. i need to press F5 to refresh the page to be able to click anywhere on the page again? is this happening because i am using jquery validation and an events already took place, how do i resolve this as i am a newbie to jquery. thanks

One thing I noticed is that that logs show up immediately in My Azure Table Storage. I wonder if this is expected with Custom Trace Listeners or because I am in a development environment. • Show UIView for app presentation only once in iOS

  I need to show an UIScrollView with some pages for present the app to user when launched for the first time. My slides are working correctly, lefting the logic to present it. Is a good practice to set the UIScrollViewController as root controller and set a NSUserDefault variable to control the presentation and redirect to main controller or set the main ViewController as root normally and call the presentation view if needed is a better approach? If there is a better way to do this can someone help? Thanks.

  Does anyone have a demo of using uploadify with additional fields and saving to database? The site's examples don't explain the process in depth and I am not familiar with jquery. I don't know why but I can't get my head around how too integrate the two. I have the demo working and I have my app which uses traditional php/html forms working. I need to conduct basic form collection with uploadify in the mix. Collect data and check data with feedback and then process into database and post back a confirmation. How do I feed information back to the uploadify form if there is a problem from the upload.php file? How do I access my data in the upload.php file? how do I redirect the upload page to a confirmation page after a succeeful upload?

• Not able to get data from Json completely

  i am getting JSON data from http://abinet.org/?json=1 and displaying the titles in a ListView. the code is working fine but the problem is, it is skipping few titles in my ListView and one title is being repeated. You can see the json data from url given above by copy paste it in JSON editor online http://www.jsoneditoronline.org/ i want titles in the "posts" array to be displayed in ListView, however it is being displayed like this: if you see the JSON data from the link above, its missing like 3 titles (they should come between the first and second title) and 5th title is being repeated. • Long running, polling, queueing process for Python. What's the best stuff to use?

  Feel free to close and/or redirect if this has been asked, but here's my situation: I've got an application that will require doing a bunch of small units of work (polling a web service until something is done, then parsing about 1MB worth of XML and putting it in a database). I want to have a simple async queueing mechanism that'll poll for work to do in a queue, execute the units of work that need to be done, and have the flexibility to allow for spawning multiple worker processes so these units of work can be done in parallel. (Bonus if there's some kind of event framework that would also me to listen for when work is complete.) I'm sure there is stuff to do this. Am I describing Twisted? I poked through the documentation, I'm just not sure exactly how my problems maps onto their framework, but I haven't spent much time with it. Should I just look at the multiprocess libraries in Python? Something else?

  I've been reading the cookbook for a while now and still don't get how I'm supposed to do this: My original problem was this: A related Model isn't being validated From RabidFire's commment: If you want to count the number of Category models that a new Post is associated with (on save), then you need to do this in the beforeSave function as I've mentioned. As you've currently set up your models, you don't need to use the multiple rule anywhere. If you really, really want to validate against a list of Category IDs for some reason, then create a join model, and validate category_id with the multiple rule there. Now, I have these models and are now validating.   Hi, I created a JSF cart application which runs just fine. I am using 'redirect' to fix the problem with refresh. The problem is when there is multiple page flow logic like if you haven't signed up you need to sign up or create an account, and once you do that you need to be redirected back to where you were when you were asked to sign up in the first place. So my goal is to use Web Flow 2 in order to make navigation rules easier to code. I have been working on them separately but I don't know how to merge so that Web Flow can handle navigation instead. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

While login from my application, Im setting the session and redirecting to pages controller, but there I could not able to get the session. If I redirect to some other controller, Im getting the session over there. I have a table with name "pages", and when the user clicks on the links (passing page name), Im taking data from that table and displaying using pages_controller. Can I not use "pages" as table name ? Or session won't work in pages_controller ?

  I'm having some trouble reading files with Indy from a site that has WordPress installed. It appears that the site is configured to redirect all hits to sitename/com/wordpress. Can I use HandleRedirect to turn that off so I can read files from the root folder? What is the normal setting for this property? Any downsides to using it for this purpose? (Edit: it appears that my problem may be caused by Windows cacheing of a file I've accessed before through Indy. I'm using fIDHTTP.Request.CacheControl := 'no-cache'; is that adequate?

Both the servlet and gwt projects have war packaging but I want to have only one war file so I changed the packaging of the gwt project to jar and included it in my servlet project. Now I have a problem understanding how to wire everything together. Do I need to migrate gwt project's web.xml into the main project web.xml file ?   All the examples of json I can find online only show how to submit json arrays w/ the jquery command $.ajax(). I'm submitting some data from a custom user control as a json array. I was wondering if it's possible to submit a json array as a regular post request to the server (like a normal form) so the browser renders the page returned.   Is it possible to start self hosted WCF services on demand? I see two options to accomplish this: Insert a listener in the self hosted WCF's web server and spin up a service host when a request for a specific service comes in, before WCF starts looking for the existence of that endpoint; or Integrate a web service in process, start a service host for a request if it isn't running yet and redirect the request to that service host (like I suspect IIS does). I cannot use IIS or WAS because the web services need to run in process with the UI business logic. Which is feasible and how can I accomplish this? EDIT: I cannot just start the service hosts because there are hundreds, most (about 95%) of which are (almost) never used but need to be available. This is for exposing a business logic layer of 900 entities.
