• Unable to mount Windows (NTFS) filesystem due to hibernation

  Whenever I boot Ubuntu, I get a message that it cannot mount my windows partition, and I can choose to either wait, skip or manually mount. When I try to enter my Windows partition through Nautilus I get a message saying that this partition is hibernated and that I need to enter the file system and properly close it, something I have done with no problem so I don't know why this happens. Here's my partition table, if any more data is needed please let me know. • To track or not to track user created images for display in a dynamic website?

  I have a website that allows user to upload and display images. Currently, I am not using a database to track these user images. A folder having the user id as the folder name is created for each user and under each folder, the image files are labelled numerically with filenames ranging from 01.jpg to 20.jpg. Up to 20 such images can be displayed on each user page. I am using javascript to hide these images in case of any of them is absent. I have seen many websites having user images with unique random filenames and possibly tracking these files with a database Since obscurity is not something that I need for these web accessible images, is there any reason why I should track them with a DB? I am not sure if a reduction of 404 errors is a good enough reason to justify the added complexity of maintaining a database or can anyone enlighten me?

• How do I check whether partitions on my SSD are properly aligned?

  I just installed ubuntu on my new intel SSD. Now I am not sure, whether paritions are properly aligned in respect to my specific SSD. • DDD: service contains two repository

  Does it correct way to have two repository inside one service and will it be an application or domain service? Suppose I have a Passenger object that should contains Passport (government id) object. I am getting Passenger from PassengerRepository. PassengerRepository create request to server and obtain data (json) than parse received data and store inside repository. I have confused because I want to store Passport as Entity and put it to PassportRepository but all information about password contains inside json than i received above. I guess that I should create a PassengerService that will be include PassengerRepository and PassportRepository with several methods like removePassport, addPassport, getAllPassenger and etc. UPDATE: So I guess that the better way is represent Passport as VO and store all passports inside Passenger aggregate. However there is another question: Where I should put the methods (methods calls server api) for management passenger's passport. I think the better place is so within Passenger aggregate.

• Visual C++, CMap object save to blob column

  I have a MFC CMap object, each object stores 160K~ entries of long data. I need to store it on Oracle SQL. we decided to save it as a blob. since we do not want to make additional table. we also thought about saving it as local file and point the SQL column to that file, but we rather just keep it as blob on the server and clear the table every couple of weeks. The table has a sequential key as ID, and 2 column of time. I need to add the blob column in order to store on every row that CMap. Can you recommend a guide to do so (read/write Map to blob or maybe a clob) ? Thanks.

• Apache FilesMatch regexp: Can it match by the cache buster 10 digit (rails generated) following the filename?

  According to the apache FilesMatch docs: The FilesMatch directive provides for access control by filename Basically, I only want to set an expires header for resources that have a 10 digit "cache buster" id appended to the name. So, here is my attempt at such a thing in my httpd.conf <FilesMatch "(jpg|jpeg|png|gif|js|css)\?\d{10}$"> ExpiresActive On ExpiresDefault "now plus 5 minutes" </FilesMatch> And here is an example of a resource I want to match: http://localhost:3000/images/of/elvis/eating-a-bacon-sandwich.png?1306277384 Now obviously my FilesMatch regexp is not matching so I am guessing 1 of 2 things is happening. Either my regexp is wonky or the '?1231231231' cache busting part of the file is not part of what apache considers part of the filename. Can anybody confirm and/or give me a way to cache only those resources that will not persist beyond the next deploy?

• How do I screen-capture an inactive window?

  How can I screen-capture an inactive (minimized / on another workspace) window in Ubuntu? Applications like ImageMagick's import are only able to capture active windows. When attempting to capture an inactive window, I get the following message: unable to read X window image `<id>': Resource temporarily unavailable @ error/xwindow.c/XImportImage/5023. Might be able to do this using Compiz, as it is able to render previews of inactive windows. Furthermore, in my specific case, the window I want to capture is run in a Wine Explorer-container. Inside that container the application is always active.

• App not showing up in Google Play search on app name [on hold]

  About 30 hours ago, I released an app on Google Play. I am concerned that if you search on the exact app name, it does not show up in the results, even if you click "show more". https://play.google.com/store/search?q=free+graphing+calculator&c=apps It does show up if you put the name in quotes.   While bouncing around StackOverflow, I've noticed a number of people attaching events (notably click events) to the document as opposed to the elements themselves. Example: Given this: <button id="myButton">CLICK ME</button> Instead of writing this (using jQuery just for brevity): $('#myButton').on('click', function() { ... }); They do this: $(document).on('click', function() { ... }); And then presumably use event.target to drill down to the element that was actually clicked. Are there any gains/advantages in capturing events at the document level instead of at the element level?

• Networking Icon Keeps Disappearing

  Almost every time I unlock my computer the networking icon and the Bluetooth icons are missing from the panel. They also disappear if I disable networking with the 'hardware switch', even though before they would just switch to a 'disabled' look. I know I can get the networking one back by running nm-applet, but I'd rather just find a way to make it stop disappearing. What causes this? This is on 12.10 64-bit, if it matters. UPDATE: I ran it from terminal, and got this: $ nm-applet ** Message: applet now removed from the notification area ** Message: PID 31340 (we are 28924) sent signal 15, shutting down... And then it exited. So it thinks it's supposed to quit...? I haven't been able to figure out what process had that ID.

• eth0 not working on startup

  Hi to all, This might sound strange but, working with my Lubuntu 10.04 i've experienced troubles when connecting to my eth0 newtwork. After some googling, i've found out that by writting in the CLI the following command: mii-tool eth0 -F 10baseT-FD and activating the eth0 in the toolbar (by clicking "activate eth0") everything works just fine. Well, up to now, i did not have any problem, because every time i turned on the computer i had to do this, but it was very little effort.But now, i would like to use the machine as a file server, accesing it by ssh, without monitor or keyboard. So, i won't be able to make this actions, and can't do this at startup because mii-tool needs root permissions. So, the question is: Do you know what does that command do, and how can id make that change permanent? Or do you know any other solution for my problem? I hope i was clear! If not, tell me and i'll try to be as clearer as possible. Thanks in advance!

• Designing a single look up entity

  In almost every application you have this look up entity that provides a dynamic references. This are things like type, category, etc. These entities will always have id, name, desc So at first I designed different entities for each look up. Like education_type, education_level, degree_type.... But on a second thought I decided to have on entity for each of these kinds of entities. But when I am done with the design and check the relation this entity will be referenced by almost all entities in the system and I don't believe that is appropriate. So What is your take on this? Can you give me some clear pros and cons?

  I know that some some text editors have problems to show long lines https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172099 . What is the best way to fix the bug or are they equally well? Modify the GTK+ source code and add a support for long lines. Modify the text editor source code such that it does not use GTK+ if it meets a long line. Split the long lines into part (maybe by cut on the Bash ) I'm just a junior programmer so I don't know what people does when they meet a bug that is on the library they use.

• Checking a record is due based on the 'occuring' field

  I have records that have dates against them and an occurring field that contains none,yearly and monthly id status note date last_updated occurring 1 open --- 01/01/2011 01/02/2010 yearly 2 open --- 05/05/2011 03/05/2011 monthly 3 open --- 06/06/2011 05/06/2011 none Now I need to be able to check if a record is due (the date set has passed) which works perfect if occurring is set to none but I'm unsure of how to approach it when it's set to yearly or monthly (IE: This day in the year/month has passed) So with the above records, if I had a method on the record called due? providing the status is 'open' it needs to return true every year when it's passed that date if it's not been updated within the year yet. I apologise if this is confusing but it's melting my brain just trying to think of it, let alone put it into words.

• I was going to get an iPhone, BUT ..

  My cell phone contract expires in a couple weeks and I was all set to buy an iPhone. • Error [9783] Support for cores revisions 0x17 and 0x18 disabled by module

  At start up after my dell BIOS load i get the puprle screen and then a black screen and this at the top "[9783] Support for cores revisions 0x17 and 0x18 disabled by module... " sorry i think there's more to it and that's probably crucial but it goes SO fast sometimes and sometimes slower... I just wiped my laptop and installed 13.10 over it and ticked LVM at installation and log in automatically, idk if that would make a difference here...   Do you use E-mail Center Auto-Processing functionality?  Auto-processing rules can be defined which will process an email and initiate actions such as sending an auto-reply, auto-acknowledgement or service request update or creation.  If you're using auto-processing in your environment, then you will have noticed that, when things go wrong, often the only indication that there is an issue is if the email goes to the Supervisor Queue for manual processing instead of being sent.  Oracle Development has developed a script to help you debug when an email is meant to be auto-processed but is failing. • Making a calendar tool with Google API. Should I use OAuth Service Account?

  I'm creating a calendar tool for a client. He has his work calendars in a Google account, which I have access to. I'll be using the Google Calendar API for the tool, but I'm new to Google APIs and the OAuth stuff. I'll be using PHP. Do I need to use an OAuth2 Service Account, or should I make a regular OAuth2 Web Application Client ID from that Google account? In case this information is helpful, the tool I will be making will do this: 1) Allow my client to fill out a form which will create a new calendar and populate it with several events. 2) Send out an email to a mailing list twice a week listing changes that have been made to these calendars. I'll also be making a page that displays the iframes for each calendar, so his clients may see them even if they do not have a Google account.
