    I'm in need for a data structure that can handle small sets (10-20 strings, at most 50, of varying length) very fast. False positives is ok, but false negatives are not. The last requirement makes bloom filters seem like a good fit, but I'm not sure about their speed, any other recommendations?

In the real life case I am dealing with, there might be 50+ objects and a dozen binaries to build, with only small changes between the object list each time, so it would be nice not to have to list all the objects each time.

  • Java graphic objects as in flashgames

    How is it possible (with the standard Java2D engine) to use small sprites like graphic objects? For those who don't know what I mean, in all those Flash-games like on Facebook they put small sprites on the screen which react to mouse-over and clicks. I tried to do the same in Java but can't find a good method. Swing components always spread over the whole bitmap, but I only want to get a reaction from the object when the mouse is over a pixel that's not transparent. So basically checking every time if the object below the mouse contains a non-transparent pixel (which i believe could be pretty intense in a gameloop or repaint loop). I have no idea how to implement such a thing efficiently.

  • Restoring and passing data to an already running instance of a .NET application

    The goal is to have an application that runs in the system tray and can either accept user input from its actual GUI (which isn't the actual issue) OR accept command line parameters (that would actually be done via a context menu in windows explorer). Now, while I'm aware that the command line parameters are not exactly possible once the application has started, I need a way to pass data to the already running application instance via some form of handler. I'm thinking maybe define and raise some sort of event? Thanks in advance.

I can pass my NSMutableArray easily using : DetailViewController *detailNote = [self.storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:@"detailNote"]; detailNote.ArrayItem = [allAnotacionsEntries objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailNote animated:YES]; but I want to pass additional NSMutableArray to the view and i don´t know how to do it.     I have a data grid where I sort of show the following information - All Guests Total Adults = 22 Total Children = 27 Confirmed Total Adults = 9 Total Children = 13 Country = Germany Total Adults = 5 Total Childres = 6 Friends Adults = 2 Children = 2 Relatives Adults = 3 Children = 4 Country = USA Total Adults = 4 Total Childres = 7 Friends Adults = 2 Children = 5 Relatives Adults = 2 Children = 2 Tentative Total Adults = 13 Total Children - 14 Country = Australia Total Adults = 7 Total Childres = 8 Friends Adults = 2 Children = 3 Relatives Adults = 5 Children = 5 Country = China Total Adults = 6 Total Childres = 6 Friends Adults = 2 Children = 4 Relatives Adults = 4 Children = 2 And in the database what I have is data at the lowest level which is Friends / Relatives and the corresponding countries set as a look-up value which in indirectly connected to another look-up that can tell me if they fall under confirmed or tentative. I guess my question is how do I layout my Java Object and perform the aggregations and give it back to the client. I am not sure if I am clear with my question, but feel free to comment so I can update the question accordingly.

The datastructure is int[][][] It contains no duplicates The range of integers that are contained in it is defined. Let's say it's 0..1000, the maximal integer is definitely not greater than 10000. Big problem is that this hash function should also be very fast. Is there a way to create such a hash function? Maybe at run time depending on the integer range?

  • Moving two objects proportionally

    I'm trying to move two objects away from each other at a proportional distance, but on different scales. I'm not quite sure how to do this. Object A can go from position 0.1 to 1. Object B has no limits. If object B is decreasing, then Object A should be decreasing at rate R. Likewise, if Object B is increasing, then Object A increases at rate R. How can I tie these two Object positions together so that in an update loop, they automatically update their positions? I tried using: ObjA.Pos += 0.001f * ObjB.VelocityY; //0.001f is the rate This works but there's an error each time it runs. ObjA starts off at its max position 1 but then the next time it will stop at 0.97, 0.94, 0.91 etc.. This is due to the 0.001f rate I put in. Is there a way to control the rate, yet not end up with the rounding error?
