  • There is any reason for which a delete method/field/function refactoring doesn't exist?

    An operation in an interface is obsolete so I decided to delete it. It seems that there is no automatic support for such a "refactoring". For me is a refactoring operation since the behavior of the code will be preserved since nobody(tests, client apis) will notice that the operation was removed. In eclipse, in java code, on an method in an interface I have the following options: rename, move, change method signature, inline, extract interface, extract superclass, use supertype when possible, pull up, push down, introduce parameter objet, introduce indirection, generate declared type. There is any reason for which a delete method/field/function refactoring doesn't exist?

  • firefox, opera 'The connection was reset' on few POST method calls on Windows and Ubuntu

    my website works well with GET method, also few POST methods. Some pages with POST method doesn't work. Some pages with POST work. For example, login page uses POST that works fine. When I post the data on webpage, firefox says "Connecting..." and finally report connection timed out error. The same behavior happens with Opera as well. However Google Chrome works fine. At the server side, I use nginx 1.2.4 with HTTPS and uwsgi for python (flask framework) app. I use geotrust certificate. The same behavior happens with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 on firefox. I tried firefox in safemode, but no luck. Set auto-detect proxy settings. no luck. Cleared all cookies. no luck Anyone help me to fix this issue? I am posting ngix config. shame on me.   • Best method(s) to backup VMs running on HyperV?

    We're in the middle of P2V'ing most of the network, so the current backup method is likely the worst - the backup agent is still installed on the guest OSs, and the backup device is dutifully pulling them onto tape, one file at a time. I suspect there's a clever way to script (PowerShell?) a suspend on the VMs, then backup of the .vhd files, and unsuspend the VMs. This seems like it would provide big speed benefits, while losing file-level restore (might be best for things like DCs and app servers). What methods/policies have you hammered out?

  • What Is .recently-used.xbel and How Do I Delete It for Good?

    If you’re reading this article, you’ve probably noticed the .recently-used.xbel file in the root of your User folder, and you’re wondering why it keeps constantly coming back even though you repeatedly delete it. So What Is It? The quick answer is that it’s part of the GTK+ library used by a number of cross-platform applications, perhaps the most well-known of which is the Pidgin instant messenger client. As the name implies, the file is used to store a list of the most recently used files. In the case of Pidgin, this comes into play when you are transferring files over IM, and that’s when the file will appear again. Note: this is actually a known and reported bug in Pidgin, but sadly the developers aren’t terribly responsive when it comes to annoyances. Pidgin seems to go for long periods of time without any updates, but we still use it because it’s open-source, cross-platform, and works well. How Do I Get Rid of It? Unfortunately, there’s no way to easily get rid of it, apart from using a different application. If you need to transfer files over Pidgin, the file is going to re-appear… but there’s a quick workaround! The general idea is to set the file properties to Hidden and Read-only. You’d think you could just set it to Hidden and be done with it, but Pidgin will re-create the file every time, so instead we’re leaving the file there and preventing it from being accessed. You could also totally remove access through the Security tab if you wanted to, but this worked fine for me… as you can see, no more file in the folder. Of course, you can’t have the show hidden files and folders option turned on, or the file will continue to show up. Want to get really geeky? You can toggle hidden files with a shortcut key.     I have one file that should only be accessible via the POST method. /var/www/folder/index.php The document root is /var/www/ and index.php is nested inside a folder. My configurations are as follows: <Directory "/var/www/folder"> <Files "index.php"> order deny,allow Allow from all <LimitExcept POST> Deny from all </LimitExcept> </Files> </Directory> I visit my server at 127.0.0.1/folder but I can GET and POST the file just like normal. I've also tried reversing the order, order allow,deny, require, limitexcept and limit. How can I only allow POST requests to be processed by one file in a folder?

  • How to delete all your old website data from the internet?

    I had my website on rohbits.com but for some reasons I had to delete it and recreate it with this URL wwww.rohbits.com/blog. My problem is that the old links are still visible on google search and when people click on those links, they land on a 404 Error page of the hosting company. I want to either delete all the previous data from the search engines or have an 404 Error page of my own so that I can tell my visitors where the actual website is. I have already redirected all the traffic which comes to rohbits.com to www.rohbits.com/blog but when they click on the expired links, they get this error page. One sample expired link is this one: http://rohbits.com/wordpress-tricks.

  • Is there other ways to do insert/update/delete on a remote oracle database?

    I asked a question recently concerning the speed of execution of insert/update/delete using JDBC driver in a remote machine, but the problem cannot be solved easily. I would like to ask, is there any other way to execute the insert/update/delete to the oracle? The current situation is this: the DB is on a seperate machine than the java program used to update the DB. I looked up the internet and found people suggesting using pure sql or pl/sql to do the update, is that possible? And do we need to operate the sql or pl/sql in a local machine? Because I have no knowledge about pl/sql, so I am not sure if we can create some kind of script and call it on a remote machine. Let say the situation is like this: the input data is on machine A, and the original java program are also on machine A, but the oracle is on machine B. is there any other approach other than JDBC?

    I'm new to using the SVN system and having hard time figuring out how to delete files uploaded mistakenly. What I've done: Committed the trunk folder with right clicking on "SVN Commit" Right clicked and choose "TortoiseSVN" - "Branch/Tag" In the section of "To path:" in the "Branch/Tag - Tortoise" window, I typed /*mydirectory*/tags/*1.0.11* where 1.0.11 was supposed to be 1.0.1.1 After realizing 1.0.11 was a mistake, to remove the directory, I right clicked on the 1.0.11 folder in Windows and selected "TortoiseSVN" - "Delete" It deleted the folder in Windows but does not delete the folder in the remote server. According to this page,http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2092344/how-do-i-delete-a-wrongly-tagged-directory-in-svn, a command can be used and I tried to type svn in the command prompt window but it gives svn is not recognized as an internal or external command. This should be a very basic question but I could not find relevant pages. Some pages suggest to use revert but I've already committed 1.0.1.1 so I'm afraid doing revert causes the newest one to be deleted. Thanks for your information.

  • Looking for search syntax documentation for SharePoint UserProfileManager.Search Method

    Greetings - I have a SharePoint 2010 server running with the User Profile service setup to synchronize to Active Directory. I'd like to use the UserProfileManager.Search() method to return user profiles based on specific criteria. MSDN documentation for this method is here. It states that the method will return user profiles that match the specified search pattern. This is exactly what I want. However, there is no documentation on what a valid search pattern is. I've made a few guesses like "Department = 'HR'" but haven't had any luck. I can't find any other documentation or sample code. Can anyone provide samples of valid "search patterns?" Another way to return user profiles is to do a query using the FullTextSqlQuery object. We don't yet have Search setup on this server so this isn't currently an option. Thanks, Greg

I would expect the compiler to see that the second argument will be unboxed one way or the other, and judge what method must be invoked depending on the third argument. Why does not this happen? What is the rationale?

I've a dedicated ViewController for each cell and if I implement touchesBegan method in this viewController i can change my cell background without any problem. The problem is that the method "didSelectRowAtIndexPath" of the UITableView is no longer called. How can I call it manually?     We have a class variable ArrayList binaryScanData in a class. In all methods having access to it, we put lock(binaryScanData) on it because it is shared. Now we want to move one of those methods out to another util class to make it a static method. We will pass that binaryScanData into the method like this: public static void convertAndSaveRawData(ref MemoryStream output, ref ArrayList binaryScanData) Our questions are followed: how can we sychoronize that binaryScanData? can we do the same as it is originally? ref is necessary? It will only be read in that convertAndSaveRawData method.

  • Removing duplicates without overriding hash method

    Hello, I have a List which contains a list of objects and I want to remove from this list all the elements which have the same values in two of their attributes. I had though about doing something like this: List<Class1> myList; .... Set<Class1> mySet = new HashSet<Class1>(); mySet.addAll(myList); and overriding hash method in Class1 so it returns a number which depends only in the attributes I want to consider. The problem is that I need to do a different filtering in another part of the application so I can't override hash method in this way (I would need two different hash methods). What's the most efficient way of doing this filtering without overriding hash method? Thanks
