• problem running system.net.webclient and process.start off a control event

  The following code causes my vs 2008 wpf project to hang, I'm not sure why. Both Part 1 and Part 2 work perfectly fine independently, but when I run them together on an control event (click a button for example) the program hangs. I've also tried shell execute for part 2 - same results. However, this code when run within the form loaded event works fine. Any insights would be truly appreciated.   Hi all. I am looking for the VB.NET code of a very handy little *.bas file I used to use in Visual Basic 6. The file was called timeout.bas and it was the greatest module ever to me. I want to switch to start using VB.NET finally but this single file is holding me back. Trying to use .NET without it is like crippling me. Can someone, anyone please make this code work in .NET for me? • Calling an Excel Add-In method from C# application or vice versa

  I have an Excel VBA add-in with a public method in a bas file. This method currently creates a VB6 COM object, which exists in a running VB6 exe/vbp. The VB6 app loads in data and then the Excel add-in method can call methods on the VB6 COM object to load the data into an existing Excel xls. This is all currently working. We have since converted our VB6 app to C#. My question is: What is the best/easiest way to mimic this behavior with the C#/.NET app? I'm thinking I may not be able to pull the data from the .NET app into Excel from the add-in method since the .Net app needs to be running with data loaded (so no using a stand-alone C# class library). Maybe we can, instead, push the data from .NET to Excel by accessing the VBA add-in method from the C# code? • Python: Indexing list for element in nested list

  I know what I'm looking for. I want python to tell me which list it's in. Here's some pseudocode: item = "a" nested_list = [["a", "b"], ["c", "d"]] list.index(item) #obviously this doesn't work here I would want python to return 0 (because "a" is an element in the first sub-list in the bigger list). I don't care which sub-element it is. I don't care if there are duplicates, e.g., ["a", "b", "a"] should return the same thing as the above example. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new to programming.

Is there a way to access this directly in the cache or do I have to destroy and rebuild the whole object just to change the value of objMemberDetails.CreditNum?   Hi, I'm trying to design this script that's supposed to be used as a part of a logon script for alot of users. And this script is basically supposed to take a source folder and destination folder as basically just make sure that the destination folder has the exact same content as the source folder. But only copy if the datemodified stamp of the source file is newer than the destination file. I have been thinking out this basic pseudo code, just trying to make sure this is valid and solid basically. If i change the ordering within the class, it will display a different value, but it's always the first value in the datagridview. I'm missing something simple to get this working.. just don't know what it is. Hopefully someone can spare a minute.

  What are common approaches for translating certain words (or expressions) inside a given text, when the text must be reconstructed (with punctuations and everythin.) ? The translation comes from a lookup table, and covers words, collocations, and emoticons like L33t, CUL8R, :-), etc. Simple string search-and-replace is not enough since it can replace part of longer words (cat dog ? caterpillar dogerpillar). Assume the following input: s = "dogbert, started a dilbert dilbertion proces cat-bert :-)" after translation, i should receive something like: result = "anna, started a george dilbertion process cat-bert smiley" I can't simply tokenize, since i loose punctuations and word positions. Regular expressions, works for normal words, but don't catch special expressions like the smiley :-) but it does . re.sub(r'\bword\b','translation',s) ==> translation re.sub(r'\b:-\)\b','smiley',s) ==> :-) for now i'm using the above mentioned regex, and simple replace for the non-alphanumeric words, but it's far from being bulletproof. (p.s. i'm using python)

How do I force WPF to render the text that gets displayed with drop shadow effect to retain Cleartype anti-aliasing, instead of that ugly blurry gray sub-pixel anti-aliasing? Some believe it's blurry because of the drop shadow -- this is not true. It's blurry only because ClearType is not used. This is how it looks like in Firefox when shadow AND ClearType: ClearType enabled text is colorful -- but that blurry text is not, because it does not use ClearType -- it uses gray sub-pixel anti-aliasing and that's not how ClearType works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearType The question is: how do I enable ClearType for this text?

But when I select something a second time it doesn't change. All of the paths it's trying to navigate to are correct. I've checked this 1000 times. Anyone have any clues why this isn't working? • VB.NET function that takes other functions as a parameter, and executes them

  Hello, Is there a way in vb.net to create a sub/function that will take as an argument some kind of pointer to another function, and allow this new sub/function to execute the passed function? What I have are 10-12 xml-rpc functions I am calling against a remote server. Each of these functions has different argument lists (one takes 1 string, another might take 3 strings and one int, etc). All of them return an object. As I am calling these, it seems like it should be able to be factored better. For instance, everytime I call any of these functions, I want to test the return value for a session drop, and do something to try and reconnect to the remote system, etc. Using .net 3.5 Thanks! -R

The problem we're left with is the following: the flash API is streaming the content of the video to a webpage, this page saves the photo as a jpg. However, I receive the error message System.Index.OutOfRangeException: Cannot find column 1 which occurs on the line drSelParts(i) = row.Cells(i).Text.
