• Adding and using a Domain Admin during OSD, in MDT

  So during my Windows 7 OSD. Going by Company Politics I'm suppose to A: Disabled the standardlized Administrator (Done, can do that in task sequence) B: Create a new Administrator called 'ITadmin' and set a fixed password C: Join a Domain (Done that aswell in the Task Sequence) D: Use a Domain Admin to install programs that would otherwise give problems if attempted to install through Local Admin, like Dynamics AX As written I join the computer to the Domain During the OSD, and as Result have the correct Domain Admins added as Administrators through GPO, but I don't know how to use them. I'm looking at CustomSettings.ini in the MDT pack and thinking its gotta be possible to do it from here? or from the unattend.xml in pseudo here is what I wanna Add: AddLocalAdmin: ITadmin Password: 1234 UseThisAccountToInstallOSD: Domain\Install_User Password: 1234 Any help appreciated, can't seem to google my way out of this one.

• How to bypass Plesk's Loading Window

  I'm in trouble with the loading window in Parallels Plesk control panel. it prevents any action before page completely loaded. It can be bypassed by unchecking "Prevent users from working with the control panel until interface screens are completely loaded" in the "Interface Preferences" in the each user's control panel, but I wanna to disable it for all accounts of the server. I haven't found any option in the panel to do it, is there any hack? or who knows where I can change it in the psa database? Hope to ask in a correct place. Thanks

• What is up with the Joy of Clojure 2nd edition?

  Manning just released the second edition of the beloved Joy of Clojure book, and while I share that love I get the feeling that many of the examples are already outdated. In particular, in the chapter on optimization the recommended type-hinting seems not to be allowed by the compiler. I don't know if this was allowable for older versions of Clojure. For example: (defn factorial-f [^long original-x] (loop [x original-x, acc 1] (if (>= 1 x) acc (recur (dec x) (*' x acc))))) returns: clojure.lang.Compiler$CompilerException: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Can't type hint a primitive local, compiling:(null:3:1) Likewise, the chapter on core.logic seems be using an old API and I have to find workarounds for each example to accommodate the recent changes. • How can I break out of ssh when it locks?

  Hi, I frequently ssh into my box at home from school, but usually when I change classes and my computer suspends, the pipe will be broken. However, ssh simply locks up - ^c, ^z and ^d have no effect. It's annoying to have to restart my terminal, and even more annoying to have to close and re-create a new screen window. So my question, is there an easy way to make ssh die properly (i.e. when the pipe fails "normally" it will exit with a message about a broken pipe)? Or do I have to figure out what the PID is and manually kill it? Thanks!

• Graphic Card Installation Failure (NV 9600M GT)

  I wanted to switch from 7 to Ubuntu. Now, the first thing that holds me back is the installation of the driver for my Nvidia 9600M GT. Ubuntu recommends me 4 drivers from the "Additional Driver" Section. Now, whatever driver I install, there are four things happening RANDOMLY after rebooting: The pc freezes before seeing bootup splash The pc freezes while seeing bootup splash image (ubuntu logo with the 5 dots) The pc gets into login screen and freezes instantly (Thought the unity-bar is transparent now) The pc freezes right after beeing able to login. (While this is happening the unity-bar changes from transparent to ugly-flat-style) I also tried to install the official Nvidia .run file but after exiting the X-Server, it says the driver is not compatible with the kernel and exits installation. Can somebody help me? I really wanna get rid of Windows :( But Ubuntu drives me perfectly insane. Please answer as noobish as possible. I'm an expert Windows user, but Linux is absolutely new to me. My Specs: Ubuntu 11.10 installed from USB Stick (like 100 times now :/ because I dont know how to remove the driver in recovery mode) 9600M GT 4GB Ram Intel Centrino 2 Dual Core 2.26GHz Win 7 and Ubuntu running along side. • Packing jar files into library jar files

  Firstly, this question is not about packing a simple jar file (e.g. lwjgl) into a runnable jar file. I know how to do this using JarSplice. So if I have a game which uses JInput, I will pack my game jar and jinput.jar using JarSplice and enter the natives in the process. The problem arises when I want to create a custom library that uses JInput, and then pack that into my games. See, the whole idea of writing a game library is that I don't ever have to even copy code like the wrapper I wrote for JInput Controller, and I always have a definitive version inside a library jar. Basically what I wanna do is create a jar file of my library, pack jinput.jar into it using JarSplice, possibly with the natives as well, and then when I want to export a jar of my game, I either export it automatically through Eclipse with the library jar, or, if that doesn't work, use JarSplice. I've tried several solutions, and nothing works. When I try to pack the game jar and the library jar using JarSplice, I get an error saying that there's either duplicate .project or .classpath. When I try to export my game through Eclipse with the library jar, it won't run (which is to be expected), but then, if I try to attach the natives with JarSplice, it doesn't give me any errors but the jar doesn't run. I'm not expecting anyone to solve this, but if anyone has an idea, something that will allow me to never look at the Gamepad code ever again, that would be awesome. I don't care if I have to package my library jar using JarSplice 5 times, and then do the same with the game jar, as long as it works. Otherwise I'll just have to copy the Gamepad class into every project alongside the library jar. :(

  I want to do some changes in MacVim to suit my needs. I'm new in it, so stick with me. The basic changes I want to do is to start the program with the following settings: Line numbers activated Top toolbar deactivated Auto-indenting activated I found out that you can write set lines=xx columns=yy to the /Users/USERNAME/.gvimrc file and it will change the default window width-height Also, you can change the color scheme with :colorscheme scheme in that file, too, but I don't know how to change the other settings. I wanna give Vim a try, but the little things (like these) are important.

• How does Trash Can works? Where can i find official specification / documentation / reference about it?

  When trying to manage trash can from mounted NTFS volumes, I ended up reading FreeDesktop.org's reference on it. Poking around and doing some tests, I realized Ubuntu/Gnome does not follow the specs 100%. Here's why: For non-/ partitions, it always use <driveroot>/.Trash-<uid>, It never used <driveroot>/.Trash/<uid>, even when i created it in advance. While this works, its annoying: if i have 15 users, i end up with 15 /.Trash-xxx folders in my drive, while the other approach would still give a single folder (with 15 sub-folders). That "pollution" in my drives is very unpleasant. And specs say "If an $topdir/.Trash directory is absent, an $topdir/.Trash-$uid directory is to be used". Well, it IS present, so why it never uses it? root trash does not work, at least not out of the box. Open nautilus as root and click on trash, it gives error. Try to delete any file, it says "it cant move to trash". Ok, i know this can be fixed by creating /root/.local/share. But specs says "A “home trash” directory SHOULD be automatically created for any new user. If this directory is needed for a trashing operation but does not exist, the implementation SHOULD automatically create it, without any warnings or delays.". Why error then? Bug? Why do i must change /etc/fstab entries for mounted volumes, adding options like uid and guid, if the volumes are already mounted as RW for everyone? These are just some examples of deviation from standard. So, the question is: "If Ubuntu does not adhere 100% to the spec, HOW exactly does the trash work? WHERE can i find technical reference about Ubuntu's implementation of the trash?" By the way: if Ubuntu does happen to follow specs, please tell me what am i doing wrong, specially regarding the /.Trash-<uid> vs /.Trash/<uid> issue. Thanks! EDIT: Some more info: If a given fs has no support for sticky bit (VFAT, NTFS), it probably dont have for permitions either (at least VFAT surely doesnt). So what prevents one user for purging / restoring other users ./Trash-xxx ? If one can read/write his own Trash, he can also do the same for the whole drive, including other's trashes, isnt it? Or does Gnome has any "extra" protection on ./Trash-xxx folders on VFAT/NTFS fs? If Linux can "emulate" file permitions on NTFS mounting by editing /fstab uid and gid options, can it also "emulate" the sticky bit? I would really want to use /.Trash/xxx format... For the root issue: for the / partition, i can trash as root, and it goes to /root/.local/shate/Trash. But if i click on Nautilus "Trash" (as root), i get an error. Dont you? So files are correctly trashed, but i cant access it. All i can do is manually "purge" them (by deleting files on /root/.local/shate/Trash), but restoring would be very tricky (opening info files and manually moving, etc) For non-/ partitions (or at least for VFAT/NTFS), I can not even trash as root: it does not create a ./Trash-0 folder, it simply says "Cannot trash, want to permantly delete?" Why? About fstab: i use it for a permanent mount for my NTFS partitions. I have several, and if not "pre-mounted" they really cluttter desktop and/or Nautilus. Id rather have it pre mounted, integrated in my fs, in mounts like /data , /windows/xp , /windows/vista , and so on, and leave /media and its "mount/unmount" flexibility just for truly removable drives Si, if Ubuntu/Gnome truly follow the spec, is there any way to fix the root issues and to "emulate" the sticky bit for (at least) my fstab'ed NTFS fixed partitions?

  Ad:: SharePoint 2007 Training in .NET 3.5 technologies (more information). Application pages are now branded by default in SharePoint 2010. WOOHOO!!! The DynamicMasterPageFile attribute in SharePoint 2010 master pages allows application pages start using the site’s master page instead of the application master page. If you want backwards compatibility with SharePoint 2007, i.e. you want unbranded application pages, here is what you can do, a) You can change the MasterPageReferenceEnabled property to false in your SPWebApplication object, orb) Go to central administration\application management\manage web application\select your web app … go to the ribbon, look for general settings\general settings, and detach application pages from the site’s master page. I do have an official license key bought when installing Windows 8, my question is, now that I need to format Install Win 7 Pro Upgrade to Win 8 Pro how do I make sure my next activation is successfully? • Improving server security [closed]

  I've been developing webapps for a while ... and I always had a sysadmin which made the environment perfect to run my apps with no worries. But now I am starting a project on myself, and I need to set up a server, knowing near to nothing about it. All I need to do is just have a Linux, with a webserver (I usually used Apache), PHP and MySQL. I'll also need SSH, SSL to run https:// and FTP to transfer files. I know how to install almost everything (need advice about SSL) with Ubuntu Server, but I am concerned about the security topic ... say: firewall, open/closed ports, php security, etc ... Where can I found a good guide covering this topics? Everything else in the server... I don't need it, and I wanna know how to remove it, to avoid resources consumption. Final note: I'll be running the webapp at amazon-ec2 or rackspace cloud servers. Thanks in advance!!

Just for elaboration and brain storming a friend of mine argued with the following concerns: sounds like gwt this way you won't have any control over you service api for example say you wanna charge the user per request how will you handle it? how will you control your design and themes? what about the 1st request the browser make? not easy with this all of the user's requests will come with "Accept" header "application/json" how will you separate browser from abuser? this way all of your public apis will be used by third party apps abusively and you won't be able to lock it since you won't be able to block the normal user browser We won't use compiled html anyway but may be something like freemarker and in that case you won't expose any of your json resources to the unauthorized user but you will expose all the html since any browser can access them all the well known 1st class services do this can you send me links to what you've read? keep in mind the DOM based XSS it will be a nightmare ofc, if what you say is applicable.
