    Hello, I would like to configure a task like "child control software", so it would hibernate the pc at certain times. Is it possible to prevent modification (here: pausing) of a task through requiring the entering of the admin password to modify, EVEN THOUGH the currently-logged-in (and only) user is the admin account itself? (Do you know of any child control software that does NOT require an additional account yet is able to hibernate the system at certain times?) Thanks a lot! Matthias

    Hello, I'm running Apache on Ubuntu 9.10. I want Apache to ignore certain domains on my server, and let other HTTP servers make full use of them. I've used mod_proxy and other Apache modules to configure the proxy/redirect to certain ports but sometimes that's too much work or doesn't work properly. Example: Server 00.00.000.000 domain1.com:80 - Apache domain2.com:80 - Apache domain3.com:80 - Webrick domain4.com:80 - Jetty Is this possible?

  • Windows: Making Windows Explorer distinctive (changing background color or file/folder icons) for specific folder

    Is there a way to change the background color in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 when the current folder being displayed meets a certain condition? Or is there a way I can change the icons of the files and folders within that folder so it's distinctive--similar to how Tortoise SVN does it for code checked out from a repository? Why? I'd like to do this for a deployment directory on a live server so users don't accidentally commit code to a certain environment. Like myself. :-)

  • Search audio file for pattern?

    I want to split a very large audio file at certain points. At certain points a radio announcer comes on and says something like "deux radio" and it always sounds exactly the same (it's a recorded clip). So how can I find that bit of repeated audio through out the entire mp3? It would be nice if I could split at that point, but even if it spits out the times, I can split it with another program.

    I know in TextMate I can go to preferences - advanced - folder references and play with the regex pattern to remove certain types of files and folders by default. I heard that if you have an existing project, however, and chance these, the project is not affected. From a similar but different angle, I am interested to know if I can exclude certain types of files, say anything named "index.html" from an existing project while not changing the global scope.     I'm using Firefox 8.0 and am enjoying the Group your tabs feature: But I'm not always good at keeping it organized. I'm trying to find a way to automatically put certain domains in certain groups. Probably through a plug-in? All the tab related plug-ins just help cluster your tabs together and don't actually work with the "Group your tabs" feature (which is why I posted the picture, to avoid ambiguity, since grouping tabs can refer to a lot of things).

    For a Windows domain, is there a way to see for a certain user or group, where the user/group has permissions? Primarily: List which files / folders the user can access on a certain network share. (Kind of a recursive "effective permissions") However, other permissions would be cool as well. I believe I've seen such a tool in action, but I can't remember anything beyond that - so this might be a false memory. Recommendations?

    I want to allow users to control the em1 device in Linux: When I run this command: ifdown em1 em1 is the embedded ethernet card 1, I want the user to be able to turn off the ethernet card. On Fedora 17, I get this error message: Users cannot control this device I want a certain user to be able to run a certain command on Linux without giving rights to other users. What is the best way to do that?

    I have a program that opens with a specific shortcut, but the shortcut seems to send parameters to the application. If I go directly to the target directory and double-click, it does not work. However, if I use the command line and pass in a certain argument, the application opens correctly. I want to open certain file types using the application, but the application must have the parameters, or it will not work. Is it possible to do this sort of thing?

    We're trying to clean up one of our systems as much as possible & have found that despite our attempts to block, users are accessing a certain part of our system through a HTTP GET with their password in the URL. This results in our Apache logs recording their password in plain text on the server. Is there an Apache directive or module that can filter out (or replace) certain patterns in its logs?

  • Display Image over map layer in GeoServer

    Hi I am newbie when it comes to GeoServer and trying to figure out if there is an easy way to display images on top of map layer. A background: In my application, based on a search criteria, some polygons are drawn on the map. Each polygon has a corresponding image (in TIFF format) that is stored somewhere. I want to load the image on top of the map when the user zooms in to a certain zoom level. I know this can be done using openLayers but since my images are in TIFF format, (openLayers is not able to render TIFF images as far as i know) i have to convert them to .PNG first which would be very slow considering the number of images i have. Hence I was wondering whether it would be possible to create a image layer that would retrieve an image of a certain polygon at a certain zoom level. If so, could anyone point me to an example or give me an idea on whether this is possible. I am using spring 2.5, tomcat 5, java 1.6 and geoserver 2.0 Thanks.

    I need to code a PHP script that would let me generate a pdf file which displays a member ID card (something like a credit card used to identify oneself) at a certain resolution. Let me explain: I do have the basic blueprint of the card in png file format. The script needs to drop in a member's name and birth day along with a serial. So far, no problem - there are plenty of good working PHP librarys out there. My problem is to ensure that the resulting pdf (the generated image of the card, to be precise) meets a certain resolution (preferably 300dpi), so that printing it would look right. Any ideas?     I'm using jQuery in my site and I would like to trigger certain actions when a certain div is made visible. Is it possible to attach some sort of "isvisible" event handler to arbitrary divs and have certain code run when they the div is made visible? I would like something like the following pseudocode: $(function() { $('#contentDiv').isvisible(function() { alert("do something"); }); }); The alert("do something") code should not fire until the contentDiv is actually made visible.   • Java, filling arrays, and inheritance

    Hi folks, I think I'm running into an inheritance conceptual wall with my Java arrays. I'm kind of new to Java so please tell me if I have things upside down. In essence, I want to do three things: Create a runnersArray with the attributes of my Runners class. Fill my runnersArray using my GenerateObjects method of my GenerateObjects class. Access the contents of my filled runnersArray in my Evaluating method of my Evaluating class. The problem seems to be that runnersArray is not visible to the methods in steps 2 and 3 above, but their classes (due to design reasons) cannot inherit or extend Runners class. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.     I am building certain GUI in C# for a content manager and looking for the tools or code snippets or open libraries ( code ideally in C# ) which allow me the following : 1. For table A in database X (test ) and table A in database Y (production) and for a simple filter ( e.g. listname = "XYZ" ) I need to show additions/deletions/updates in some way. which might be side-by-side or just 2 record added table with some fields 2 record deleted table with some fields Considering that this task is very common, I guess, certain components should exist ? Components either return some collections from parameters given for further visualizing or just produce for e.g. html report. 2. I need to push changes for the filter I mentioned in 1 and update table in production database for this filter only ( ie for the particular list approved by content person). Again probably there are certain SQL code generators - components in addition to diffs or standalone.

  • Is there a way to make vim display "virtual characters" before/after regular patterns in the buffer?

    Vim has list and listchars options that make vim display "virtual characters" (by which I mean characters that aren't actually in the buffer) in certain situations. For example, you can make trailing spaces look like something else, or add a visible character to represent the newline character. I'd like to be able to enable the display of certain characters either before or after certain regular patterns ((perhaps syntax items). Sort of like syntax highlighting, but instead of just changing the color/styling of characters that are in the buffer, I'd like to display extra characters that aren't in the buffer. For example, I'd like to display a virtual : (colon) after all occurrences of the word "where" that appear at the end of a line. Is this possible, and if so, what is the necessary vimscript to do it?

  • NoSQL and meteorological data

    So there's this new cool thing, these NoSQL-databases. And so there's my data: Rows of rows of rows of meteorological data: Values, representing certain measurements at a certain station (Identified by a WMO number, not coordinates), at a certain time. Not every station measures every parameter, not every parameter is measured all the time. I store this data (30 years worth of hourly values, resulting in ~1 billion values) currently in MySQL. The continous growth and the forseeable addition of even more data give me a little headache. Reading about the document based NoSQL systems which seem to scale rather easily, I was wondering if NoSQL is a viable data storage concept for meteorological data too. Do you have any experience with this?
