  • Switching from Java to .NET from a career change point of view

    Could anyone share with me their experience with switching from Java to .NET from a career point of view? I've been a Java developer for 12 years and am just getting tired of how fragmented the Java world has become. For my liking, there's just too many frameworks, tools, application servers, etc.. And it seems each new tool just adds complexity and time to even the simplest of projects. I'm not trying to start any wars - I'm just giving you the reason I ask the main question. I've read a few books on .NET and have done one WebForms job. I love the integrated environment and would like to hear how others transitioned from Java to .NET. What I mean by that is did you do it somehow as a contractor or did you join a company as a beginner .NET developer with much Java experience? Personally, I'm ready to take the leap if I can figure out how to not lose too much income in the process (Senior Java developer to beginner .NET developer). I would really appreciate hearing your stories.

    Hi I am beginner for SSH stuff but i want to dump a big sql file and for that i need to be able to navigate to the appropriate path in my hosting account. I managed to login to SSH and i typed pwdbut it gave me a shared hosting pathway like /home/content/r/o/s/roshanjonah How Can i go to the path where i upload my files to...i use FTP but in FTP path it just shows / so i cannot go any further back than that...so using SSH how can i come to this path in ftp... Are they only needed when setting a domain's nameservers to my own machine on the internet - like "ns1.mydomainonmyserver.com" ??   • OpenWRT LAN clients don't see each

    I'm a beginner at using OpenWRT but I'm loving it already. Everything is running fine (internet, wifi) on all clients except one thing: the computers running in my LAN don't see each other. Pings to them or between them gives "destination host unreachable". This happens when using either the machine's IP's or their assigned hostnames. Running Backfire 10.03.1 - default settings everywhere except of course for the specific ISP stuff in the WAN. What's going on?

In short: I have 2 physical machines - first(Windows Server 2007, Apache 2.2) on the second machine esxi installed to host virtual machines . I have been converted my physical machine(1) on esxi(2) and in the next step I would like to deploy a load balancer between the physical and virtual machine. Would be this workaround appropriate? I'm trying to run command which contains quotes.. example: Shell("cmd.exe") SendKeys.Send("cd "c:\users\abc def" ") <<<<--- this line SendKeys.Send("{ENTER}") there is an syntax error. the problem is that I need to add quotes to some commands as there is a space in folderpath.   • JQuery dirtyForm not working on text boxes in ajaxToolkit:TabPanel

    I'm a newb to jQ so please forgive my ignorance. I'm using Asa Wilson's plugin jquery.dirtyform.js to prompt a user of unsaved changes before they nav away from a page (ASP.Net C# 3.5). It basically loops through all controls and appends a class and handler to each input. Controls w/i an ajaxToolkit:TabPanel are ignored, unfortunately. I'd appreciate if anyone knows of this type of error and how to resolve it short of manually manipulating each control (as I have this logic in the master page). Thank you.

    Hello all, I have a page, which uses jQuery Autocomplete on the second two textboxes (investigator and institution). It is getting the data fine, and displaying it, but for some reason it is not filtering the list of data as i continue to type. Anyone know why? Is there something i need to do to turn this on? According to the jQuery site, the only options to the autocomplete initializer are delay, minLength and source. Thanks in advance! I'm using jQ v1.4.1 and jQui v.1.8rc1.   • Why trigger fired only once when running on a JQuery Object?

I'm running over it for (i = 0; i < sugestionsArray.length; i++) { $('li.groupCode' + sugestionsArray[i] + ' span').addClass('checkedInput'); $('option[value=' + sugestionsArray[i] + ']').attr('selected', 'selected'); } And this loop runs 3 times perfectly, adding classname and playing with the option. instead of adding a clasname, i'm trying to trigger a click over the span $('li.groupCode' + sugestionsArray[i] + ' span').trigger('click'); which in his turn has a click event bind to it using jq as well Span.click(function() {}) for some reason my loop breaks after the first click. he is leaving the loop and don't continue to the next 2 loops after him. only the first span is been clicked. does anyone has an idea?
