    For some reason on one pc, when variable names are going from batch file to Cygwin environment, they are capitalizing. On other the case stay intact. @set aa=bb %BASH% --login -c "set" so the output in one case will show AA=bb in other case aa=bb How to control the case of the exported variables?

  • Creating an XmlNode/XmlElement in C# without an XmlDocument?

    I have a simple class that essentially just holds some values. I have overridden the ToString() method to return a nice string representation. Now, I want to create a ToXml() method, that will return something like this: <Song> <Artist>Bla</Artist> <Title>Foo</Title> </Song> Of course, I could just use a StringBuilder here, but I would like to return an XmlNode or XmlElement, to be used with XmlDocument.AppendChild. I do not seem to be able to create an XmlElement other than calling XmlDocument.CreateElement, so I wonder if I have just overlooked anything, or if I really either have to pass in either a XmlDocument or ref XmlElement to work with, or have the function return a String that contains the XML I want?

  • Cakephp beforeFind() - How do I add a JOIN condition AFTER the belongsTo association is added?

    I'm in Model-beforeFind($queryData), trying to add a JOIN condition to the queryData on a model which has belongsTo associations. Unfortunately, the new JOIN references a table in the belongsTo association, so it must appear AFTER the belongsTo in the query.   • How do I sync iPad Notes without Mail?

    The default Notes app on the iPad is fine for my note taking needs. I see how it syncs through iTunes to Mail, but if one doesn't use Mail for e-mail management, is there any other way to sync and view the iPad notes on the desktop? (We use Eudora for mail management, and Apple's Mail is not great if all you want to do is view your notes with it.)

There are certain words in the paragraph that i want the user to be able to click on, and when clicked, a different textbox is populated with more information. I know that you can have the event for the whole textbox, but that isn't want i want. I only want to call that event when certain words within the box are clicked.

  • Why is volatile not considered useful in multithreaded C or C++ programming?

    As demonstrated in this answer I recently posted, I seem to be confused about the utility (or lack thereof) of volatile in multi-threaded programming contexts. My understanding is this: any time a variable may be changed outside the flow of control of a piece of code accessing it, that variable should be declared to be volatile. Signal handlers, I/O registers, and variables modified by another thread all constitute such situations. So, if you have a global int foo, and foo is read by one thread and set atomically by another thread (probably using an appropriate machine instruction), the reading thread sees this situation in the same way it sees a variable tweaked by a signal handler or modified by an external hardware condition and thus foo should be declared volatile (or, for multithreaded situations, accessed with memory-fenced load, which is probably a better a solution). How and where am I wrong?

  • Is there a Java unit-test framework that auto-tests getters and setters?

    There is a well-known debate in Java (and other communities, I'm sure) whether or not trivial getter/setter methods should be tested. Usually, this is with respect to code coverage. Let's agree that this is an open debate, and not try to answer it here. There have been several blog posts on using Java reflection to auto-test such methods. Does any framework (e.g. jUnit) provide such a feature? e.g. An annotation that says "this test T should auto-test all the getters/setters on class C, because I assert that they are standard". It seems to me that it would add value, and if it were configurable, the 'debate' would be left as an option to the user.

    I have a mySQL database with a tad under 2 million rows. The database is non-interactive, so efficiency isn't key. The (simplified) structure I have is: `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment `category` varchar(64) NOT NULL `productListing` varchar(256) NOT NULL Now the problem I would like to solve is, I want to find duplicates on productListing field, merge the data on the category field into a single result - deleting the duplicates.   • jQuery ajax only works first time

    I have a table of data that on a button click certain values are saved to the database, while other values are retrieved. I need the process to be continuous, but I can only get it to work the first time. At first I was using .ajax() and .replaceWith() to rewrite the entire table, but because this overwrites the DOM it was losing events associated with the table. I cannot use .live() because I'm using stopPropagation() and .live() doesn't support it due to event bubbling. I was able to essentially re-bind the click event onto the table within the .ajax() callback, but a second call to the button click event did nothing. I changed the code to use .get() for the ajax and .html() to put the results in the table (the server-side code now returns the complete table sans the <table> tags). I no longer have to rebind the click event to the table, but subsequent clicks to the button still do nothing. Finally, I changed it to .load(), but with the same (non-) results. By "do nothing" I mean while the ajax call is returning the new HTML as expected, it's not being applied to the table. I'm sure it has something to do with altering the DOM, but I thought since I'm only overwriting the table contents and not the table object itself, it should work. Obviously I'm missing something; what is it? I can use regex to extract the info with preg_match_all but I feel this is not the right way as the data is already well structured. Any other method ?

  • jquery select this parent from inside image.

    I have the following code, i'm trying to make a loader appear then the image fade in once it is loaded. I want to make the function reusable so i can just add an image to a div with the loader id and it will work.   • Emulating a transaction-safe SEQUENCE in MySQL

    We're using MySQL with InnoDB storage engine and transactions a lot, and we've run into a problem: we need a nice way to emulate Oracle's SEQUENCEs in MySQL. The requirements are: - concurrency support - transaction safety - max performance (meaning minimizing locks and deadlocks) We don't care if some of the values won't be used, i.e. gaps in sequence are ok. There is an easy way to archieve that by creating a separate InnoDB table with a counter, however this means it will take part in transaction and will introduce locks and waiting. I am thinking to try a MyISAM table with manual locks, any other ideas or best practices?

  • Firefox extension dev: observing preferencies, avoid multiple notifications

    Let's say my Firefox extension has multiple preferences, but some of them are grouped, like check interval, fail retry interval, destination url. Those are used in just single function. When I subscribe to preference service and add observer, the observe callback will be called for each changed preference, so if by chance user changed all of the settings in group, then I will have to do the same routine for the same subsystem as many times as I have items in that preferences group. What I want is observe to be called just once for group of preferences. Say extensions.myextension.interval1 extensions.myextension.site extensions.myextension.retry so if one or all of those preferences are changed, I receive only 1 notification about it.
