    I have a list of words. Lets say they are 'Apple', 'Orange', and 'Pear'. I have rows in the database like this: ------------------------------------------------ |author_id | content | ------------------------------------------------ | 54 | I ate an apple for breakfast. | | 63 | Going to the store. | | 12 | Should I wear the orange shirt? | ------------------------------------------------ I'm looking for a query on an InnoDB table that will return the 1st and 3rd row, because the content column contains one or more words from my list. I know I could query the table once for each word in my list, and use LIKE and the % wildcard character, but I'm wondering if there is a single query method for such a thing?

  • Java library for converting Word documents to PDFs or images

    Hey there What I need to do is convert Microsoft Word .doc files to PDFs or images. This has to occur in Java. I have done a fair bit of investigation already. I've tried Davisor Publishor but it doesn't give me the accuracy that I need - for instance text overlapping in the output document. Adobe has something called LiveCycle. Anyone tried this? It looks quite massive and a bit of overkill (its an "integrated server solution"). Sounds expensive. Saying that, it doesn't have to be free, or cheap. Even if you just know some names, please shout them my way. Many thanks in advance. Doug

  • MS SQL Server 2008 Stored Procedure Result as Column Default Value

    First of all, thank you guys. You always know how to direct me when I cant even find the words to explain what the heck im trying to do. The default values of the columns on a couple of my tables need to equal the result of some complicated calculations on other columns in other tables. My first thought is to simply have the column default value equal the result of a stored procedure. I would also have one or more of the parameters pulled from the columns in the calling table. I don't know the syntax of how to do it though, and any time the word "stored" and "procedure" land next to each other in google I'm flooded with info on Parameter default values and nothing relating to what I actually want. Half of that was more of a vent than a question...any ideas though? And plz plz dont say "Well, you could use an On-Insert Trigger to..."

    I need to start utilizing the interop in my programs to automate several functions in Word and Outlook and I was checking if anyone knew a good place to start. My ultimate goal is for my program to kick off a mail merge, create several different files and save them accordingly, then e-mail the different files to different people based upon who needs what. So any help on learning how to use the interop properly would be greatly appreciated. I am currently using Visual Studio 2008 and Office 2007 and use vb.net to write my programs.     Hi, I am planning on starting my 1st VSTO project. What I want to be able to do is: Download and Upload versions of a MS Word document to a web service. With authentication by overriding the save button Call a web service to list a bunch of tag that can be inserted into a document. When a user double clicks a tag the selected tag is inserted into the cursor position. I am pretty sure this is all possible just want some confirmation? Also would like to know how long would it take to make something like this. I think the biggest issue will be authentication and listing exiting files to download then allowing the user to download a .doc and restore previous versions of that file via the web service.

    In Oracle there is a mechanism to generate sequence numbers e.g.; CREATE SEQUENCE supplier_seq MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 START WITH 1 INCREMENT BY 1 CACHE 20; And then execute the statement supplier_seq.nextval to retrieve the next sequence number. How would you create the same functionality in MS SQL Server ? Edit: I'm not looking for ways to automaticly generate keys for table records. I need to generate a unique value that I can use as an (logical) ID for a process. So I need the exact functionality that Oracle provides.

  • MS SQL Server Text Datatype Maxlength = 65,535?

    Software I'm working with uses a text field to store XML. From my searches online, the text datatype is supposed to hold 2^31 - 1 characters. Currently SQL Server is truncating the XML at 65,535 characters every time. I know this is caused by sqlserver, because if I add a 65,536th character to the field directly in Management Studio, it states that it will not update because characters will be truncated. Is the Maxlength really 65,535 or could this be because the database was designed in an earlier version of MS SQL Server (2000) and it's using the legacy text datatype instead of 2005's? If this is the case, will Altering the datatype to Text in sql server 2005 fix this issue?

    I'm attempting to extract a series of data values from a text file. The values are in the format: <MODIFIER NAME1 VALUE; MODIFIER NAME2 VALUE;> For the purposes of the current task that I have, I only care about extracting the VALUE that is situated next to each semicolon. What would the REGEX command look like that would isolate each of these VALUES (preferably so that I backreference all values in the replacement part of my processing.) I believe that ^(.*?); is somehow used, but I'm not seeing how to isolate only the word that is attached to the semicolon in a group for backreference use. Thanks!

    Hi, I have a DB with game data (map, players, etc...) and I have a game core mechanics writen in T-SQL stored procedure. I need process game loop (via the stored procedure) every "X" seconds. I tried used the SQL Job, but when I set the interval to seconds, the SQL server stops responding. If I set the interval greater than one minute, all was ok. I need game loop precise in time, e.g. the game loop will run only once and will be executed every "X" precisely (tolerance should be less than one second). Can I do it with MS SQL Server capabilities? Or should I create a windows service which will repeatly execute game loop procedure? Or should I go another way? Thanks! EDIT: The game loop stored procedure takes less than the interval.

    I have seen this question pop-up on stackoverflow a few times but haven't found a good solution yet. I am looking for recommendations on Virtual Private Server Hosting featuring Windows Server 2008 plus MS SQL database capabilities. I have seen people suggest webhost4life.com, hostmysite.com and others but they do not offer windows server 2008 hosting, only 2003. I have also looked at mosso and aspnix.com. Mosso seems like a good move, but an hoping to find something below $100 a month and I have heard extremel mixed reviews on aspnix.com. Thanks for the help.

    I'm not very fluent with MS-SQL commands. I need a script to restore a database from a .bak file and move the logical_data and logical_log files to a specific path. I can do: restore filelistonly from disk='D:\backups\my_backup.bak' This will give me a result set with a column LogicalName, next I need to use the logical names from the result set in the restore command: restore database my_db_name from disk='d:\backups\my_backups.bak' with file=1, move 'logical_data_file' to 'd:\data\mydb.mdf', move 'logical_log_file' to 'd:\data\mylog.ldf' How do I capture the logical names from the first result set into variables that can be supplied to the "move" command? I think the solution might be trivial, but I'm pretty new to mssql.

I was going to call it scons-config but import scons-config doesn't work in Python. I found this SO question and looked at PEP8 style guide but am kind of bewildered, it doesn't talk about two-word-name conventions. What's the right way to deal with this? module name: SconsConfig? scons_config? sconsconfig? scons.config? name of the single .py file in it: scons-config.py? scons_config.py?

I have a table that has 4 columns: EmpNum, User, Action, Updatetime A user logs into, and out of a system, it is registered in the database. For example, if user1 logs into the system, then out 5 minutes later, a simple query (select * from update) would look like: EmpNum User Action Updatetime 1 User1 I 2010-01-01 23:00:00:000 1 User1 O 2010-01-01 23:05:00:000 I'm trying to query the Empnum, User, Action, I(in time), O(out time), and the total time.     I want to search for threads in my mysql database with Solr. But i want it to not just search the thread words, but for similar words. Eg. if a thread title is "dog for sale" and if the user searches for dogs the title will be in the result. and also if a user searches for "mac os x" the word "snow leopard" will appear. and the ability to link words the application thinks is related eg. house and apartment. how is this kind of logic done? i know that you can with solr look up words in a dictionary file you create/add, so solr will look for dogs and see what related words there are (eg. dog). but where do you find such a dictionary? i have no idea about this kind of implementation. please point me into right direction. thanks

    Is there any library that achieves the following: Convert Microsoft Windows 98 Microsoft Windows XP Windows 7 Windows Ultimate Desktop Windows to Windows 4 The complicated part here is to recognize that "Desktop Windows" is an anomaly here and not count it. If nothing is added before the word "Windows", perhaps it can be counted but if there is something else and the suffix does not match any popular suffix, it can still be counted. Maybe I am a little vague here but perhaps someone could have an idea about what I am talking about here. Any suggestions?

    Hi, I found this article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb967663.aspx) and thought great thats exactly what I'm trying to do. I want to programatically build a product brochure using content controls and openXML. The article in question refers to an accompanying video which unfortunately does not appear to be available, nor does the code. I posted a comment to ask where they are but in the meantime does anybody know of a good example. There are plenty of examples of binding/merging one record into a openXML Word document. But I want to bind a whole list of records to create a product brochure. Can anyone point me to good tutorial? Thanks

    I'm brand new to acegi and relatively new to Grails. I just followed the tutorial to set up a new role and a new user. Every time I saved the user (with a role checked), it saved the user information fine, but not the role associated with the user. I finally dug into the controller code that was generated, and noticed this: private void addRoles(person) { for (String key in params.keySet()) { if (key.contains('ROLE') && 'on' == params.get(key)) { Authority.findByAuthority(key).addToPeople(person) } } } So to be sure I was interpreting it correctly, I added the word ROLE to my authorties, and it worked like a charm. Am I missing something obvious, is this a bug, or.......? The examples showed simple role names like "user" or "manager".
