• Access from one VM to an Other

  I got a Linux VM Image from a dev in our company to develop on it. This works nice, but now i need to do some Internet Explorer testing, for that i have an other VM with windows on it. I have an entry in my hosts file under macos that redirect some virtual domain to the IP of the linux VM. I tried to modify the hosts file in windows also. But i cant reach Linux VM. How can i access the Server on the linux VM with Windows VM? Are there some settings i missed?

  Hey all, I am trying to put together a query that will display one specific record (found by the record's primary ID) at the top, and display all other records below it, sorted by date (I have "date_added" as one of the fields in the table, in addition to primary ID). I could do this with a UNION (first select would locate the record I want, and the other select would display all other records), but I'm wondering if is there perhaps a better way? I'm using Oracle, by the way.

• Binding MySQL to run from the public or private LAN IP address - which one is faster

  So we have 2 servers all running at the same web host. We have bind MySQL to listen on the public ip-address of the database server and the web server connects to it from the public ip. Both servers run on the same private network. Currently, the DB connect method from our php script takes about 3ms to connect to the MySQL database server host. My question is, would MySql data interaction from the web server be faster if we bind it to listen on the private lan address on the database server instead of the public IP? or is it the same regardless and it wont make a different.

  I have a linux box with CentOS 6.2 and a RAID1 (2x 2Tb) configuration: /dev/md1 -> / (10G) /dev/md2 -> /home (1.9T) I want to split the md2 in two different partitions, so I can get the following configuration: /dev/md1 -> / (10G) /dev/md2 -> /home (1T) /dev/md3 -> /example (900G) How can I achieve this? I already know that I can resize the partition, but that doesn't alter the real partition table (only the md device), so how can I do this?

  I need to configure my machine as to allow HTTP traffic to/from serverfault.com only. All other websites, services ports are not accessible. I came up with these iptables rules: #drop everything iptables -P INPUT DROP iptables -P OUTPUT DROP #Now, allow connection to website serverfault.com on port 80 iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d serverfault.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -m conntrack --ctstate ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT #allow loopback iptables -I INPUT 1 -i lo -j ACCEPT It doesn't work quite well: After I drop everything, and move on to rule 3: iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d serverfault.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT I get this error: iptables v1.4.4: host/network `serverfault.com' not found Try `iptables -h' or 'iptables --help' for more information. Do you think it is related to DNS? Should I allow it as well? Or should I just put IP addresses in the rules? Do you think what I'm trying to do could be achieved with simpler rules? How?   Our current network looks like this: Location 1: 2 Layer 2 switches | subnet 192.168.1.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN Location 2: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.3.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN Location 3: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.5.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN We just got a direct fiber connection between location 1 and 2, we also got a new HP V1910 24G layer 3 switch. I tried to follow the instructions on this site, but I can't get it to work. I think our network should look like this: Location 1: HP Switch FIBER to L2 | subnet 192.168.1.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN Location 2: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.3.0/24 | FIBER to L1 Location 3: 1 Layer 2 switch | subnet 192.168.5.0/24 | Firewall for our VPN So, how can I get routing working on our location 2? It's old gateway was a firewall device on ip 192.168.3.1. I'm thinking on creating a VLAN Interface on 192.168.3.1 on the switch for the Location 2. But how will I handle that on the HP switch that has a direct fiber connection with that switch? Please help, I'm not very good with networking.

• One subdomain is not working

  Hello there, My main domain works just fine - www.example.com and a subdomain set up by another developer works as well - sub1.example.com. But when I try to set another subdomain up I go through the process everything seems to work. The software creates the default files where the subdomain files should go. But when I try to browse there it doesn't work. My host uses Plesk to do all of the hosting stuff. What do you think the problem is? I doubt it is some sort of cache issue because I had problems on my phone which I tried after problems on the pc. Maybe for some reason Plesk needs time to set this up? I have used Cpanel before and that works instantly.

  We have 3 PCs, two of it are connected to internet (both of it have 2 NIC) PC1: eth0 - 1.0.0.1 (external IP) eth1 - 172.16.0.1 (internal IP) PC2: eth0 - 1.0.0.2 (external IP) eth1 - 172.16.0.2 (internal IP) PC3: eth0 - 172.16.0.3 (internal IP) Now we want to map port 80 from PC1 and PC2 to PC3. But there is the problem: iptables port forwarding works well from PC1 or PC2, but only in case if PC3 have PC1 or PC2 as gateway. So, question is: can we have port mapping from both PC1 and PC2 regardless of gateway settings on PC3? Thank you in advance.

Now if I browse for localhost/xx.html I get the right content. BUT I also can use xx.php or xx to access the oontent! I only want to get the content if there is an html extension!   My server has multiple IPs, 1.1.1.1 1.1.1.2 and i have a service which listens to a port e.g. 88 Now i want, when somebody from outside, wants to connect to the port, that he can only connect, to that port, if he connects to the ip 1.1.1.2:88 but if he tries to connect to 1.1.1.1:88 it should not react and it should look like that it dont exists and drops all connections. Ok, than i need for 1.1.1.2:88 that only allows a specific ip range outside connecters. for example only 9.*.*.* can connect to that port and ip. I'm using Centos. Thank you for your help.

I need to first login to a gateway and from this gateway, I can access the VM. How can I forward X11 from my laptop to this VM?   We have two Windows 2008 domain controllers. We installed the second DC only a few months ago. We also have a TFS 2012 server on the network. Today, when the older DC crashed, TFS stopped working completely. Local users received messages such as "You are not authorized to access ServerName\Collection". Remote users received messages such as "The server was used in your last session, but it might be offline or unreachable". So my question is, why did TFS not use the second, newer DC instead of just crashing along with the first DC?

  I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2, my station runs Windows 7. while defining folder redirection policy (and others) I find that the redirection does not apply (or appear) in rsop.msc checkout. First thing I've checked is restrictions on the folders where the My Documents folder will be redirected to, I have set full rights for my user on those folders (on the server), and yet I get no actual result.
