  • Advice on Python/Django and message queues

    I have an application in Django, that needs to send a large number of emails to users in various use cases. I don't want to handle this synchronously within the application for obvious reasons. Has anyone any recommendations for a message queuing server which integrates well with Python, or they have used on a Django project? The rest of my stack is Apache, mod_python, MySQL.

  • Stretch array (Numpy, Python)

    I have a numpy array [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14] and want to have an array structured like [[1,2,3,4], [2,3,4,5], [3,4,5,6], ..., [11,12,13,14]]. Sure this is possible by looping over the large array and adding arrays of length four to the new array, but I'm curious if there is some secret 'magic' Python method doing just this :)

    I'm trying to use a regex as an input, and from there generate all the possible values that the regex would match. So, for example, if the regex is "three-letter words starting with a, and ending in c," then the code would generate a list with the values [aac, abc, acc, adc, a1c....]. Is there an easy way to do this? I'm using python.

    Is there any way to make pip play well with multiple versions of Python? For example, I want to use pip to explicitly install things to either my site 2.5 installation or my site 2.6 installation. For example, with easy_install, I use easy_install-2.{5,6}. And, yes — I know about virtualenv, and no — it's not a solution to this particular problem.

    I'm developing a website using the Django framework, and I need to retrieve Jabber (okay, Google Talk) statuses for a user. Most of the Jabber python libraries seem like an incredible amount of overkill (and overhead) for a simple task. Is there any simple way to do this? I know very little about XMPP/Jabber, though of course I'm willing to learn. Do you need to be an authenticated and "friended" user to retrieve another user's status?

    I can't install pygraphviz on Windows XP. I'm using Python27. Before to launch the setup I've changet these two variables of the setup.py file library_path="C:\\Archivos de programa\\Graphviz 2.28\\bin" include_path="C:\\Archivos de programa\\Graphviz 2.28\\include\\graphviz" Then I've launched the setup. I'm using mingw32 as a compiler. I don't know what can I do now.   • Find new messages added to an imap mailbox since I last checked with python libimap2?

    I am trying to write a program that monitors an IMAP mailbox and automatically copies every new incoming message into an "Archive" folder. I'm using imaplib2 which implements the IDLE command. Here's my basic program: M = imaplib2.IMAP4("mail.me.com") M.login(username,password) lst = M.list() assert lst[0]=='OK' for mbx in lst[1]: print "Mailboxes:",mbx def process(m): print "m=",m res = M.recent() print res M.select('INBOX') M.examine(mailbox='INBOX',callback=process) while True: print "Calling idle..." M.idle() print "back from idle" M.close() M.logout() It prints the mailboxes properly and runs process() when the first change happens to the mailbox. But the response from recent() doesn't make sense to me, and after the first message I never get any other notifications. Anyone know how to do this?

In my myfile.py, can I access these classes or do I need to again import file2.py, file3.py etc...     Hi, I can't find a correct way to get the environment variable for the appdata path in python. The problem is that my user name includes special characters (the german ae and ue). I made a workaround wit PyQt for Vista and Windows 7 but it doesn't work for XP Systems. Does anybody know the correct encoding of these environment variables or another solution for this problem?     Hi, I have access to a grid (running condor) that would (potentially) allow to very substantially reduce how long by nltk based nlp tasks take. unfortunately, i dont have root access on the cluster so cannot install new packages, only run whatever is available on the linux boxes. python is of course available, but nltk isnt - i was wondering however, if there might be a way around this somehow ? is there a way i can somehow still distribute the task in a self-contained 'package' of some sort?
