• Help file formats - MSHA files v CHM files

  Recently I was tasked with producing a help file from a C#/WPF/Crystal Reports application using Sandcastle. I have previously blogged about the problems in doing that and the change that is going into the next version of Sandcastle that allows the vagaries of Crystal (this missing BusinessObjects.Licensing.KeycodeDecoder) to be handled. At http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/devdocs/thread/0b110502-f5bb-4c56-96a5-4347a2a7a68a/, I describe how I tried each of the formats. Two of the formats could not be built and the error messages were not exactly helpful as to the cause. These two formats turned out to be obsolete. The MSHA format worked but was not suitable for a standalone application, so that left me with the older CHM format. I therefore asked on that thread "will the HTML Help 1 (CHM) format continue to be supported for the foreseeable future?".Rob Chandler, MVP in help systems, gave a very helpful answer, to the effect that there is not yet a replacement for the CHM format.

• Wireless doesn't work for me in Lubuntu but does in Puppy?

  I am new to GNU Linux. I have been having trouble getting wireless working on my installed system of Lubuntu 11.10. It sees my WPA network but cannot connect even when I remove the password. Looking around for a different distro that might replace it, I was amazed to find that Puppy was able to connect to my wireless network without trouble, running off a USB stick. So this makes me think that my Lubuntu wireless problem might be fixable so I don't have to have the major hassle of backing up all my documents etc before installing a different distro to the laptop. Can anyone suggest some steps that might help me to fix wireless on Lubuntu, perhaps using the fact it works with Puppy? Thanks. Rob

What I've found is couple of cool plugins like WPTouch (for touch enabled devices), The Wordpress Mobile Edition and the Wordpress Mobile Pack. • How to do a JavaScript HTML 5 Canvas image "page flip" like you commonly see in Flash?

  Has anyone tried recreating the page flip effect with images like you commonly see in Adobe Flash with JavaScript and HTML 5's canvas tag? Are there any frameworks or JQuery plug-ins that do this type of effect? The page flip in Flash allows you to grab a corner of the simulated book page and flip the page like you would flip a real book's page. • CAKeyframeAnimation - Examples

  I have a a menu that is a CALayer that will slide across the screen to a given point. I want the effect where the menu will go a little past the point, then a little before the point, and then land on the point. I can move the menu by applying a transform, but I was hoping to get this bouncing effect to work. I was looking into CAKeyframeAnimation, but I'm having trouble locating an example/tutorial.   I'm trying to drag files into my application from a program called Locate32 (which is great by the way). Here is what happens: e.Data.GetFormats() {string[7]} [0]: "FileDrop" [1]: "FileNameW" [2]: "FileName" [3]: "FileNameMap" [4]: "FileNameMapW" [5]: "Shell IDList Array" [6]: "Shell Object Offsets" DataFormats.FileDrop "FileDrop" e.Data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop) false Why does e.Data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop) return false even though FileDrop is clearly one of the formats listed as "available"? Drag and drop works fine from Windows Explorer. If I do e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop) I get a list of a bunch of filenames, as I should. • Do I need to use any other attributes other than CssClassProperty to enabled design-time support?

  Hi, I'm trying to provide the same design-time support that the CssClass provides on some custom properties of a server control. The documentation suggests that decorating the property with the CssClassProperty is all that's required. [CssClassProperty] public string SomeOtherCssClass{get;set;} This has no effect, in vs2008 or vs2010. I've looked at the WebControl class using reflector and implemented all the attributes, and every combination thereof, to my property and still no class dropdown. Some blog posts suggest that the use of the Editor attribute but a) there's not mention of it in the documentation and b) none of editors which are remotely related to css classes have any effect either. Am I missing something to enable this feature? Thanks in advance, Keith.

• Making an svg image object clickable with onclick, avoiding absolute positioning

  I have tried to change the images on my site from to svg, changing img tags to embed and object tags(standard procedure, i think). But, implementing the onclick function, which previously was contained in the img tag is proving most difficult. I found onclick had no effect when placed inside the object or embed tag. So, I made a div exclusively for the svg, and placed onclick in this div tag. But, no effect unless visitor clicks on the edges/padding of the image. I have read about overlaying a div, but am trying to avoid using absolute positioning, or specifying positions at all. Maybe there's a way to do it without specifying postions? Or maybe theres another way to apply onclick to a svg. Has anyone encountered this problem? Questions and suggestions are welcome.

• UISplitViewController, animating views

  Hello, I'm trying to animate my detail view controller to transition with a page curl (up/down). I'm trying to achieve a similar effect as the Notes application on the iPad, this transition was also reproduced by CulturedCode in their Things application for iPad. My problem is that the animation is clipped to the bounds of the Detail View Controller, it doesn't animate into the Master View Controller, therefore limiting the effect. I see that Apple and CulturedCode managed to make this happen, but I'm stumped. I've tried the following solutions: self.splitViewController.view.clipToBounds = False; self.view.clipToBounds = False; self.tableView.clipToBounds = False; The only other solution I can think of is discarding the UISplitViewController altogether and creating my own VC programmatically that will mimic the UISVC behavior so that both of the views (former separate view controllers) will share the same Super View. When you click on a language, you can see the "background" image transferring into a certain position of the screen. this is the image: <img id="lago" src="http://www.mcz-scenario.it/images/lago.jpg" height="1070" width="1600" alt="lago" /> And this is the "resize" effect $("#lago").animate({ height: 148, width: 264, top: endPosition2.top+42, left: endPosition2.left+350+26}, 4000); Now...
