  • Spring 3 Security Authentication Success Handler

    I am using form-login for security and I am trying to implement an authentication success handler, but I am not sure how to go back to the resource that was initially requested before the login process. By default I think it implements a SimpleUrlAuthenticationSuccessHandler and I tried to mirror that class implementation. But it sets a setDefaultTargetUrl(defaultTargetUrl) and perhaps thats where the magic happens that it remembers the resource to go back to after the login process. Any help is greatly appreciated. Is it because, the latest web frameworks does most of the things on its own? provides extensive features that is not available with Servlet / JSP? or the Servlet / JSP is impotent to deliver what latest framework does?   • Restore Files from Backups on Windows Home Server

    If you use Windows Home Server to backup the machines on your network, your in luck if you accidentally delete important files or they become corrupted. Today we take a look at getting your data back from backups on your home server. Open Windows Home Server Console and click select the Computers and Backup tab. Right-click on the computer you need to restore files for and select View Backups. This will open a list of your recent backups. Highlight the one you want to open, then click the Open button in the Restore or View Files section. If this is the first time you’re restoring a file, you’ll be asked to verify installation of the device software. Check the box next to Always trust software from Microsoft Corporation and click Install. Now wait while the backup data is retrieved. After the backup data has been retrieved, an explorer windows opens up to drive (Z:) which is the backup data. It’s just like if you were opening a drive on your local machine. Now you can browse through the backup and find the files your missing. You can open the files directly, or drag them onto your machine to the location you want to restore them.   Restoring your data is actually a very easy process with Windows Home Server.     I'm using Spring WS 1.5.8, XmlBeans for marshalling/unmarshalling and AxiomSoapMessageFactory. My app. needs a custom SOAP header. The data that needs to be in the SOAP Header is a XmlBean (i.e sessionContext in the code below). How can I construct the SOAP Header with this XmlBeans XmlObject element in it?     If you’re a Windows Home Server user, you’ve probably come across a lot of cool addins that you can use to enhance its functionality. Today we take a look at Addin Central… which gives you easy access to the many addin possibilities out there. Addin Central from HomeServerLand is a free well…addin…that brings you information and easy access to several other addins that are available for your Windows Home Server. It essentially creates an “app store” of sorts for your Windows Home Server that you can view in the console. Install Addin Central Browse to your shared folders on the server and open the Add-Ins folder and copy the AddinCentral.msi installer (link below). Next open WHS Console from one of the computers connected to your network, and click Settings then Add-ins. Under Available Add-ins click the Available tab and you’ll see the Addin Central installer file we just copied over. Click the Install button.   • Encoding issues with Spring and Freemarker

    I'm working on a project using Freemarker and Spring running on Jetty. It will involve displaying characters from many different countries so I'm trying to set the encoding to UTF-8. However, no matter what I do, it remains ISO-8859-1. I tried to create a filter in my web.xml and I've tried putting this response.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8"); response.setContentType("text/html; charset=utf-8"); just before rendering the view. But when I load the page and click "View Page Info", the encoding is always ISO-8859-1. I've also tried hitting my app server directly to see if it was being affected by Apache but got the same result. Any help is appreciated.

  • WebLogic Server JMS WLST Script – Who is Connected To My Server

    Ever want to know who was connected to your WebLogic Server instance for troubleshooting?  An email exchange about this topic and JMS came up this week, and I’ve heard it come up once or twice before too.  Sometimes it’s interesting or helpful to know the list of JMS clients (IP Addresses, JMS Destinations, message counts) that are connected to a particular JMS server.  This can be helpful for troubleshooting.  Tom Barnes from the WebLogic Server JMS team provided some helpful advice: The JMS connection runtime mbean has “getHostAddress”, which returns the host address of the connecting client JVM as a string.  A connection runtime can contain session runtimes, which in turn can contain consumer runtimes.  The consumer runtime, in turn has a “getDestinationName” and “getMemberDestinationName”.  I think that this means you could write a WLST script, for example, to dump all consumers, their destinations, plus their parent session’s parent connection’s host addresses.    Note that the client runtime mbeans (connection, session, and consumer) won’t necessarily be hosted on the same JVM as a destination that’s in the same cluster (client messages route from their connection host to their ultimate destination in the same cluster).   • Spring MVC and Jetty: Prevent jsessionid from being used in RedirectView on redirect to external sit

    In Spring MVC 2.5 with Jetty - probably with any servlet container -, I want to redirect to an external site using RedirectView via the magic "redirect:" prefix for the view name in ModelAndView. Unfortunately, RedirectView uses response.encodeURL(), so my (otherwiese wanted) session id is appended to the URL. It is not only a security risk to carry the session id to the external site, the ";jsessionid=gagnbaba" string may also be interpreted as part of the ContextPath/PathInfo on the other site, resulting in a bad URL. Any "springish" options other than implement my own ExternalRedirectView... and also hack the ViewResolver to interpret a "externalRedirect:" prefix? (Requiring cookies is not an option.) Moritz

  • Spring security custom principal bean

    I have a web application that is set up to use the default ldap server/authentication manager/authentication provider/user service. I have another DAO that already does majority of the work that those do (besides the authenticating a user) using Spring-LDAP. My problem is that I want the principal to be of my own custom bean class. What is the simplest way to do this? Initially I was thinking to create a custom authentication provider, but since the default one does exactly what I want, there doesnt seem to be a need. I am thinking I just need to override whatever object actually returns the Principal bean. Is this possible, and able to be injected into the security ldap authenticator context?

    Is there a tutorial that goes along with the PetClinic application? I have been trying to find one, but google is not helping me today. Specifically, I dont understand things like: @Autowired - what does that even mean? @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.GET) public String setupForm(@RequestParam("petId") int petId, ModelMap model) { Pet pet = this.clinic.loadPet(petId); model.addAttribute("pet", pet); return "petForm"; } How can a request return just a string? Shouldnt it need to return some sort of ModelAndView? Or does the application somehow redirect to whatever is returned?   • Setting the default jsp view with spring mvc

    I want to set one of jsp files in my jsps folder as the default view for the application. Is there any way we can tell in that abc.jsp needs to be default and it can be found in such and such path. Also the url pattern is html so is there a way it can be mapped in Spring MVC. For example - When a user types www.example.com , I want the application to direct to abc.jsp page and also when someone types www.example.com/something, even then application should direct to abc.jsp, but the url pattern shouldnt be compromised.   • SQL server timeout 2000 from C# .NET

    I have run into a strange problem using SQL Server 2000 and two linked server. For two years now our solution has run without a hitch, but suddenly yesterday a query synchronizing data from one of the databases to the other started timing out. I connect to a server in the production network, which is linked to a server containing orders I need data from. The query contains a few joins, but basically this summarizes what is done: INSERT INTO ProductionDataCache (column1, column2, ...) SELECT tab1.column1, tab1.column2, tab2.column1, tab3.column1 ... FROM linkedserver.database.dbo.Table1 AS tab1 JOIN linkedserver.database.dbo.Table2 AS tab2 ON (...) JOIN linkedserver.database.dbo.Tabl32 AS tab3 ON (...) ... WHERE tab1.productionOrderId = @id ORDER BY ... Obviously my first attempt to fix the problem was to increase the timeout limit from the original 5 minutes. But when I arrived at 30 minutes and still got a timeout, I started to suspect something else was going on. A query just does not go from executing in less than 5 minutes to over 30 minutes over night. I outputted the SQL query (which was originally in the C# code) to my logs, and decided to execute the query in the Query Analyzer directly on the database server. To my big surprise, the query executed correctly in less than 10 seconds. So I isolated the SQL execution in a simple test program, and observed the same query time out both on the server originally running this solution AND when running it locally on the database server. Also I have tried to create a Stored Procedure and execute this from the program, but this also times out. Running it in Query Analyzer works fine in less than a few seconds. It seems that the problem only occurs when I execute this query from the C# program. Has anyone seen such behavior before, and found a solution for it? UPDATE: I have now used SQL Profiler on the server. The obvious difference is that when executing the query from the .NET program, it shows up in the log as "exec sp_executesql N'INSERT INTO ...'", but when executing from Query Analyzer it occurs as a normal query in the log. Further I tried to connect the SQL Query Analyzer using the same SQL user as the program, and this triggered the problem in Query Analyzer as well. So it seems the problem only occurs when connecting via TCP/IP using a sql user.

  • DHCP server with multiple interfaces on ubuntu, destroys default gateway

    I use Ubuntu, and I have many interfaces. eth0, which is my internet connection, and it gets its info from a DHCP-server totally outisde of my control. I then have eth1,eth2,eth3 and eth4 which I have created a DHCP-server for.(ISC DHCP-Server) It seems to work, and I even get an IP-address from the foreign DHCP-server on the internet facing interface. However, for some reason it seems my gateway for eth0 became screwed after I installed my local DHCP-server for eth1-eth4. (I think so because I got an IP for eth0, and I can ping other stuff on the local network, but I cannot get access to the internet). My eth0-specific info in /etc/network/interfaces: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 10.0.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 10.0.1.0 broadcast 10.0.1.255 gateway 10.0.1.1 mtu 8192 auto eth2 iface eth2 inet static address 10.0.2.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 10.0.2.0 broadcast 10.0.2.255 gateway 10.0.2.1 mtu 8192 My /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server: INTERFACES="eth1 eth2 eth3 eth4" So why does my local DHCP-server fuck up the gateway for eth0, when I tell it not to listen to eth0? Anyone see the problem or what I can do to fix it? The problem seems indeed to be the gateways. "netstat -nr" gives: 0.0.0.0 --- 10.X.X.X ---- 0.0.0.0 --- UG 0 0 0 eth3 It should have been 0.0.0.0 129.2XX.X.X 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 So for some reason, my local DHCP-server overrides the gateway I get from the network DHCP. Edit: dhcp.conf looks like this(I included info only for eth1 subnet): ddns-update-style none; not authoritative; subnet 10.0.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 { interface eth1; option domain-name "example.org"; option domain-name-servers ns1.example.org, ns2.example.org; default-lease-time 600; max-lease-time 7200; range 10.0.1.10 10.0.1.100; host camera1_1 { hardware ethernet 00:30:53:11:24:6E; fixed-address 10.0.1.10; } host camera2_1 { hardware ethernet 00:30:53:10:16:70; fixed-address 10.0.1.11; } } Also, it seems that the gateway is correctly set if I run "/etc/init.d/networking restart" in a terminal, but that's not helpful for me, I need the correct gateway to be set during startup, and i'd rather find the source of the problem
