Is there a way to perform some action (vbs, batch, exe, etc) upon the successful upload of a file using Windows Server 2008 R2 built-in IIS FTP server/service?
Hello I recently installed Windows 7 on my computer and having trouble to sync it with my Xperia X1 mobile phone. I tried to install ActiveSync 4.5 but Microsoft told me to install Mobile Device Center instead. The problem is that the computer doesn't recognize the phone so no drivers is installed for it and that prevents the Mobile Device Center to find my phone. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks, Morgan.
I would like to cleanup a windows service leftover from an application that I uninstalled. The executable for it has been removed, but it is still visible in the services view.
I wanted to disable the IMAPI CD Burner service because I keep getting "Power Calibration Error".
In windows XP, its throught services but I cant seem to find it anywhere in window 7/vista.
Anyone have an idea how to disable/kill that service?
Is there a way of combining or deduplicating contacts in the Windows8 People app? For some reason I have double entries of many contacts (with identical names), and the app isn't smart enough to integrate them.
I have the following accounts connected:
Microsoft (i.e. Hotmail)
Google (including Contacts)
Facebook
Linkedin
Twitter
The contacts in question have entries from Google contacts as well as Facebook.

Can I migrate my existing physical WinXP environment (on a single c: drive) to a VHD via Disk2VHD and then run it on my new Windows 7 laptop as a virtual machine?
I am testing a highly-customized web application in Internet Explorer 10 on Windows8, since it is an up and coming release, and will likely be using my application some day. Take a look at this sample screenshot of some text input controls from the application:
Is there a way, either within HTML or CSS, to remove the action icons that are located to the right of the text and password input controls, or is the an OS-specific feature that cannot be disabled?
Thank you for your time.
We're attempted to set up a high availability network for our file servers, and we're wanting to do a DFS file system cluster using the same back-end storage (our back-end storage has its own clustering mechanisms that it manages itself).
The question being, A. how would one go about setting up DFS clustering, and B. how can we get Windows to cooperate with multiple servers accessing the same SAN volumes?
I'm currently using the onboard sound on my Asus P6T6 WS Revolution motherboard (SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio) and was wondering if there was any way to make either windows or the audio drivers upscale 2-channel audio to 5-channel audio (basic duplication would suffice)?
I was using a creative sound card but got fed up with the memory leaks and poor sound quality.
Is there a way to cap the maximum volume on a Windows XP machine? I would like to regulate the volume so even if the user adjusts to the loudest volume, it will only be as loud as I want it to be.
Hi
I run as admin on my machine and want to run an executable as non admin user from the command prompt (without logging off).
I'm running on windows 7 64 bit OS.
Is possible?
Thanks.
I keep getting "Data Execution Prevention" error in Windows Live Messenger. I have noticed that this is happening usually when I leave computer to get coffee, and screensaver comes up, WLM breaks.
Is there any way to prevent this error from happening?
I see I can turn off this "Data Execution Prevention", but is that safe, since I know that WLM is under heavy attacks from spammers/hackers?
Thanks
Sometimes when I go to sleep I leave the computer playing some music, but I'd like to tell it, once X minutes have passed just mute the volume.
Does anyone know of a program to do so? I'm targeting Windows 7 here but I guess one for Vista will do equally.
Could someone recommend a utility that would allow me to change the order of taskbar items in Windows XP, ideally just by dragging them, similar to reordering tabs in Firefox?
I am looking for a program or program suite that will allow the auditing of network shared resources (specifically storage space), and render reports (who created, deleted, moved, modified files, etc).
Yes, I know I can turn on auditing on Windows, but the Event Log isn't quite the "charmer" for the job.
In Windows (XP at least), when you drag a file to a folder that already has a file with the same name, you get a dialog like this:
Does anyone know of a replacement for that dialog that adds a Compare button (preferably configurable to use the comparison tool of my choice)?
Hi!
I set up a VPN on my server, everything seems okay but when I connect to it from Mac (didn't try windows) I can connect, I can send data and from the server I see that it receives it but it does not send any data back...
Did you ever happened to see this? Thanks a lot!
I just installed Windows Vista on a laptop computer.
I was wondering if you could recommend any essential software to be installed on the system (i.e. anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc...)
Thanks
When Windows 7 is configured to automatically update at a certain time (say Friday 5pm), is that also when it tries to download updates, or does it pull in the updates throughout the week, and only installs them at the update time?
I'm using Windows 7 RC and for some reason, the date won't show at all on my system tray. It used to for a while, but one day it just stopped (I didn't even notice it until someone pointed it out).
So I've been trying to fix it, by customizing the format of the date, resetting to defaults, etc... But nothing works, it still doesn't show.
The time appears fine.
I have a VPS that runs Windows Server 2008. The time keeps changing every so often. I haven't been able to find out what triggers this change, but it's usually forward or backward several hours at a time. I don't think the minute changes, it seems that only the hour changes.
Hi,
Microsoft's SFU is not supported for
64-bit XP OS. Read here -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920751
I want to set up a NFS Client on 64-bit Windows XP. Any suggestions ?
I have an apache service that is running as "SYSTEM", however the log on as settings are configured to run as my user account.
The windows task manager claims that I am the user name associated with the service when it's running, however I had the apache service call a python script which indicates that the user is "SYSTEM.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I've reinstalled 3 times and once with a newer version.
