• Jquery website is not opening in UBUNTU but in XP, Everything is fine

  I know it is weird, But I just discovered this, jquery.com is not opening in my ubuntu firefox or other KDE browser and hence many sites that copy codes from code.jquery.com also hanged. Is there any solution to this problem. I have found the problem It is actually with the DNS servers I am using, Google DNS, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, whenever I use these DNS in ubuntu my system stop responding to some sites, actually they are connected nicely, but the request end up in waiting.. I dont understand why...??? I checked my DNS with cat /etc/resolv.conf Even after using Google DNS, it is showing DNS servers I received automatically after connecting to the service provider. I am connecting using Network Manager, not using DNS I provided but using the default one. Any Solution??

• Google webmaster tools / Geographic location settings

  I am building an website. It has an .nl domain. Now only my domain is showing up on google.nl I hope I can change this somehow that it could be findable in all google's (like google.com / co.uk) and so on. If I look on google forums. They say go to webmaster tools and change your geographic position over there. But I have added this site and I am not able to change it there because there is no select box. I dont have any idea were to search (yes I searched on google offcourse) or where to ask for this special problem. So maybe here can someone redirect me or explain me what is possible and what not.   On Lenovo laptops, in order to use F5 you need to press Fn-F5 (same with F1-F12). It's really annoying and I'd like to reverse the situation. • Is It bad for SEO to have internal redirected links? [closed]

  I have a large number of pages having similar but not identical content. Example: site.com/dream_dictionary_flying and site.com/dream_interpretation_flying. The problem is that although not being identical, they are sometimes on the edge of being duplicate content. The solution via redirect 301 in htaccess is simple and can be done in a minute, BUT, changing all existing links on the whole site from "/something" to "/something_else" would take ages, it would be thousands of manual changes taking x hundreds of hours. My question is this; is it bad for SEO to have internal links that are redirected, or rather HOW bad is it? For the human user it would not matter at all but from what I have experienced, the search engines don't like it. Is there any rule of thumb here? Please come back with your thoughts and experience on this. Thanks!

• 3D terrain map with Hexagon Grids (XNA)

  I'm working on a hobby project (I'm a web/backend developer by day) and I want to create a 3D Tile (terrain) engine. I'm using XNA, but I can use MonoGame, OpenGL, or straight DirectX, so the answer does not have to be XNA specific. I'm more looking for some high level advice on how to approach this problem. I know about creating height maps and such, there are thousands of references out there on the net for that, this is a bit more specific. I'm more concerned with is the approach to get a 3D hexagon tile grid out of my terrain (since the terrain, and all 3d objects, are basically triangles). The first approach I thought about is to basically draw the triangles on the screen in the following order (blue numbers) to give me the triangles for terrain (black triangles) and then make hexes out of the triangles (red hex). http://screencast.com/t/ebrH2g5V This approach seems complicated to me since i'm basically having to draw 4 different types of triangles. The next approach I thought of was to use the existing triangles like I did for a square grid and get my hexes from 6 triangles as follows http://screencast.com/t/w9b7qKzVJtb8 This seems like the easier approach to me since there are only 2 types of triangles (i would have to play with the heights and widths to get a "perfect" hexagon, but the idea is the same. So I'm looking for: 1) Any suggestions on which approach I should take, and why. 2) How would I translate mouse position to a hexagon grid position (especially when moving the camera around), for example in the second image if the mouse pointer were the green circle, how would I determine to highlight that hexagon and then translating that into grid coordinates (assuming it is 0,0)? 3) Any references, articles, books, etc - to get me going in the right direction. Note: I've done hex grid's and mouse-grid coordinate conversion before in 2d. looking for some pointers on how to do the same in 3d. • How do I use apt-get to update to the latest kernel?

  My current kernel is 3.2.0-26 (my main computer) while on another of my Ubuntu computers, with which I didn't fiddle with unofficial updates, it's 3.2.0-30. Yet the Update manager on my main computer doesn't show available kernel updates. It shows other updates though. I suspect is due to the fact that in the past I installed multiple mainline kernel versions (not recommended versions), up to 3.5* series. What I'm after: Either: Fix automatic kernel updates. Or: Learn about a way to check for the latest official ubuntu kernel version and get it manually (I know how to install kernels from debs) What I have already tried: Uninstalled unused kernels including "the generic one without a number" as per http://askubuntu.com/a/103875/29347 and then also https://ubuntugenius.wordpress.com/2011/01/08/ubuntu-cleanup-how-to-remove-all-unused-linux-kernel-headers-images-and-modules/

  I have this website natural-track.com and when I do a cache check I get a completely different website,This is Google's cache of http://www.backpackers-planet.com/modules.php?name=Web_Links&l_op=visit&lid=3379 , unrelated to my site. I have checked with the host, they say all is well on their side. How can we fix it? The site also went off from Google Search. We are about to rebuild this site to a better professional platform but first we would like to have an idea of what happened and how to fix it.

  Interesting find today...   I was perusing the event log on our web server today for any unexpected ASP.NET exceptions/errors. Found the following:   Exception information: Exception type: HttpException Exception message: Path '/builder/builder.sitemap' is forbidden. Request information: Request URL: https://www.bondwave.com:443/builder/builder.sitemap Request path: /builder/builder.sitemap User host address: 66.249.71.247 User: Is authenticated: False Authentication Type: Thread account name: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE   At first I thought this was maybe an attempt by a hacker to mess with the sitemap. Using a handy web site (www.network-tools.com) I did a lookup on the IP address and found it was a Google bot trying to crawl the application. In this case, I would expect an exception or 403 since the site requires authentication anyway.

  In short I am working with a company that does trade shows... one of their new domain names has the word 'sex' in but completely innocently. EXAMPLE: www. someproductsexpo .com (Being 'some' 'products' 'expo'). The content is completely inoffensive and I do not see there being any other things that would flag either the web or any emails sent from anyone@someproductsexpo.com as inappropriate. I was just wondering if any has experiences of any domains like this or comments to add? Thanks

Also this tweet doesn't make any sense, "The Layers Bar" seems to be referring to a manual entry of ours. They all seem to be new accounts with no followers and no prior tweets coming in like clockwork every hour. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Could this harm us? It it possible to find out the source of this? I should mention I'm hesitant to report them all as spam because it could look like we are the culprits.

• Bridging 10GbE with 12.04 - bridging works but the bridging computer has no internet access

  I have been trying to get 12.04 bridging working with two 10GbE cards. I have 2 10GbE cards in a linux box being used only for this bridge, 1 with 2 10GbaseT ports and another with a single CX4 port. I have 2 client computers connected with 10GbaseT cards and the CX4 card connects to a procurve switch. I can get the bridging happening mostly the way that I want, The clients receive dhcp information from the dhcp server (not the bridging machine) and can connect to and properly see the rest of the network. Speeds are ok, not amazing but working on that is another matter. My problem is that the bridging machine has no internet access ... meaning I can't update anything or apt-get anything It can ping all other machines on the local network. I've tried the helpful hints from: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NetworkConnectionBridge "Enabling Internet Use on the Bridging Computer" and get the following RTNETLINK answers: File exists but dhclient br0 does nothing for me :( I think if it is anything it a multiple route problem as both br0 and eth4 have ipaddresses ... even though I have only set it up so that br0 has one ...   I have a question on redirects. HTTP status code checker tool shows "HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily" for the home page url http://someurl.com (just a namesake url). Also, this url opens up http://www.someurl.com/general/index. As you can see, a non-www url to a www url redirect is happening. My questions are: Is a 302 redirect acceptable for the home page? Will this affect the site showing up in search results in anyway? Isnt redirection to /general/index a bad practice?

  I want crawlers to have access to http://www.example.com but not http://www.example.com/ My robots.txt is as follows: User-agent: * Allow: /$ Disallow: / My site is in google search results, but I am not coming up in Bing, Yahoo, etc. I have had the same robots.txt since last year, and I initially requested inclusion ~1 year ago, having also resubmitted the URL to those latter search engines several times since as well.   I'm setting up DFP to display ads and I have an ad tag (Javascript) from adtechus.com. The tag looks like this: <script src="http://adserver.adtechus.com/?adrawdata/1.0/1111/11111/0/0/ADTECH;loc=100;noperf=1;"></script> When I paste that tag into DFP, I get an error message saying it does't recognize the tag format: ...and, more importantly, my ad isn't showing on the page. DFP seems to be taking my adtechus ad tag regardless and working with it, despite the error message. But could that be the reason my ad isn't showing? And how can I fix it?

• CUDA instructions ask to stop GDM but it doesn't exist

  I am trying to install and run some CUDA exemples in Ubuntu 12.04. First of all, I downloaded all .run files from http://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads, then followed the instructions at http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-gpu-computing-, until I got hung up on the first step: Exit the GUI if you are in a GUI environment by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. Some distributions require you to press this sequence twice in a row; others have disabled it altogether in favor of a command such as sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop . Still others require changing the system runlevel using a command such as /sbin/init 3 to exit the GUI. When I type the command sudo /etc/init.d/gdmstop, it returns: gdm command not found Can anybody help me exit my GUI in order to continue? Thank you in advance.

  I have an iPhone app for a forum which also has a limited Google Analytics reporting. This app reports the page views in following generic form: /forum/67 /thread/29036 etc... The numbers above represent forum and thread ID's I am trying to set an Advanced filter, which will rewrite/report the page views in Google Analytics in following form: http://www.mysite.com/forum-67.html http://www.mysite.com/thread-29036.html Can someone please assist me in creating an Advanced Google Analytics filter which will enable me to see URL's so they can be live and send to correct page. Is there another method to achieve what I'm looking for ? Obviously there will be a need for some RegExp matches, but I cannot get around it.
