  • How do you make thumbnails of videos? Using flowplayer free.

    I'm making a "video sharing site" just for learning and fun. I am using FlowPlayer as my player for videos. Now Im gonna make a page that will list every video, and a want preview picture of the video. Like: http://www.youtube.com/videos How do you do that? With the player or can you do it with php??   • What is the best free cross-platform OpenGL GUI library for a video game?

    It must come with source. I've looked at these which look semi-promising: glgooey, guichan, and cegui. I've come across others that look more Windows-y than game-y, but that's not the direction I am looking to go in. I would like some simple functionality of typical controls (lists, dropdown box, etc.) but with support for graphical widgets that you would normally find in game frontends. Mouse clicking, dragging, dropping, etc. and sound effect hooks would be nice. (These libs often leave hooks for the external system to tell it when/where mouse events are occurring.) It would get rendered on top of what my own 3D engine is rendering for the game, so it must be able to play nicely with rendering code outside of the lib. The best criteria is whether or not a reasonable 2D game could be implemented just with the GUI library and minimal glue code. (By glue code, I mean init code, hooking up the mouse, and game logic.) I am creating a 3D game, but this criteria gives a pretty solid idea of what level of interactivity I would like in the GUI.

  • Does anyone know of a good free bulk upload tool for web apps?

    I have a web application in which a user has to upload images to a gallery. At the moment they need to upload one image at a time so it's pretty tedious. I'd like to implement a system where they could potentially drag and drop files into the browser, or select a folder to upload. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! (By the way; it's a .Net App if it makes a difference, but I was thinking most of the work would be happening client side so shouldn't matter) -Ev

    I'm used to Visual Studio, so in an ideal world I would like something that meets the following criteria: Lightweight CSS auto-complete HTML auto-complete CSS auto-formatting HTML auto-formatting Syntax highlighting Notepad2 has syntax highlighting, but no auto-complete and no auto-formatting. Any thoughts? Please don't answer with "Visual Studio"! I'm after something very lightweight (if it exists).

There is a number commercial tools provided by SAS, Oracle, Microsoft, etc., that allow to de-duplicate or merging names of individuals or companies coming from multiple sources. However, after reading the answers to the question mentioned before, I wondered why a seemingly interesting problem didn't receive any answers mentioning open source projects that could tackle the problem. Are you aware of any open source projects or algorithms to implement the so called "record linking", "record merging", or "clustering"?

  • Is there a free, smale-scale, not web-based issue/bug tracking system?

    I know, there were posts before here on SO before concerning issue or bug tracking systems, like this one, but the given answers point either to commercial systems or web-based systems, which both seem to be oversized for our needs. What I am looking for is a non-commercial tool for a team of 3 to 4 developers, which can be used on an existing fileserver, without the need of installing additional server software like a C/S database or a web server. Some things I expect from such a system: allows to remember bugs (with a priority) and issues / ideas for new features (mostly without a priority) description of the issue, perhaps some additional remarks short info who entered the bug/issue entry one or more tags allowing us to group or filter the list Any suggestions? EDIT: I should have said that, but we are using MS Windows clients, Visual Studio development, Tortoise SVN (the latter works fine without a subversion server). And yes, I am strict on "no server software", since all server based solutions I have seen so far seem much to oversized/heavy weighted/too-much-effort-to-be-worth-it. In fact, if no one has a better idea, we are going to use a spreadsheet, but I can't believe there are no ready-made, light weight solutions.

    I want give web development using Python a shot, but I'm failing hard. I don't even know if I CAN run Python. The webpage for my web host says it supports all kinds of stuff, including Python. I've never touched anything CGI related and this does not appear to be a noob friendly area. Below is all the information I could think of that might be useful: Shared host: Yes Webhost: dibbsonhosting.com Server OS: linux Python installed: Yes (or so says the webhost) mod_python installed: Don't Know WSGI installed: Don't Know Access to http.conf: No Terminal access: No Cpanel: Yes FTP: Yes Django: downloaded latest stable release, not uploaded anywhere, not sure where to put it.     Hi guys, Setting up some web development stuff with a friend, he's using Versions SVN (paid for by his company) which looks fantastic but is a touch pricey. I was tempted by SVNx but if I'm honest don't like the idea of using command line at all - much prefer a nice and easy to use GUI. I don't mind paying for it if I have to, but I was wondering if there were any really good alternatives? We'll be using Springloops as an SVN fwiw. Thanks

  • embedded dev. question - how to break free from a faulty serial port opening?

    Under WindowsCE, C++ project, I'm trying to work with devices connected via both "real" serial ports and/or serial-to-usb wrappers ("virtual" serial ports); my problem is - when I try to open the port, if something goes wrong, the function never returns and the system goes into some non-responsive state and has to be eventually rebooted. I need to open the ports from the main thread.   • Is there a free tool which can help visualize the logic of a stored procedure in SQL Server 2008 R2?

    I would like to be able to plot a call graph of a stored procedure. I am not interested in every detail, and I am not concerned with dynamic SQL (although it would be cool to detect it and skip it maybe or mark it as such.) I would like the tool to generate a tree for me, given the server name, db name, stored proc name, a "call tree", which includes: Parent stored procedure. Every other stored procedure that is being called as a child of the caller. Every table that is being modified (updated or deleted from) as a child of the stored proc which does it. Hopefully it is clear what I am after; if not - please do ask. If there is not a tool that can do this, then I would like to try to write one myself. Python 2.6 is my language of choice, and I would like to use standard libraries as much as possible. Any suggestions? EDIT: For the purposes of bounty Warning: SQL syntax is COMPLEX. I need something that can parse all kinds of SQL 2008, even if it looks stupid. No corner cases barred :) EDIT2: I would be OK if all I am missing is graphics.
