  • Is it common practice to put keywords in html markup for SEO?

    Though it's on the edge of programming questions, I think this is still relevant here, as only those of us actually doing the coding for a site would be considering this. I've been reading more about keyword placement, and it seems to me like a good place to do keyword placement would be in the class and id names chosen for the elements they are representing. I'm not talking about any kind of black-hat keyword stuffing thing but real legitimate use of descriptive keywords for elements. Is this something that is actively done for SEO?

    I want to validate the current situation :- I have multiple users who have to use designing applications like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator etc and maybe some Mac specific applications like iWork and they need to be working on the applications in parallel. Can I setup a Mac Mini OS X Server and create separate user accounts and give to these users so that they can remote login to the OS X Server simultaneously from their Windows machines and use any application they want? In crux, can they share the server resources and applications from their windows machines?

    In javascript, how would you check if an object is actually visible. I don't just mean checking the visibility and display attributes. I mean, checking that the element is not visibility:hidden or display:none underneath another element scrolled off the edge of the screen. EDIT: For technical reasons, I can't include any scripts.   • Why can't I 'justify' text that I have copied from PDF into MS Word?

    I find it really annoying that when I copy text that looks good in Adobe Reader into Word, the sentences which are left-aligned by default won't change accordingly when I press 'Justify'. The only way I could get the result I need is to press back-spaces and Delete key to align the right border. Why is this? Here's an example from the Word document. The text is right- and center-aligning perfectly but Justify does not seem to work.

It seems like sort of an edge case that different backbones or ISPs might intentionally break to reduce router load or generally segment the network for practical high-use applications.   • Create jquery dropdown like RDP Menu Bar

Basically, I want a block of html to stay hidden at the top of the page with a ~3px edge sticking out (something to mouseover), and when you mouse over it, the hidden section slides down. Basically I want it to work like the RDP full screen menu bar works. Any thoughts on what the best way of doing this is?

I'm writing an algorithm for finding the second min cost spanning tree. my idea was as follows: 1) Use kruskals to find lowest MST. 2) Delete the lowest cost edge of the MST. 3) Run kruskals again on the entire graph. 4) return the new MST. My question is this: Will this work? Is there a better way perhaps to do this?

Here's the Java implementation I would use: java.util.random source Whilst this would be fairly straightforward to port to C and PHP, there is potentially a lot of work to get all the edge cases correct and handle differences in number representation.   • How can I automatically restore all open PDF files after rebooting in Windows?

    I've tried using "Cache My Work" (http://cachemywork.codeplex.com/), but unfortunately, it only restores one instance of a program that was open upon rebooting. So when I have five separate Adobe Acrobat Pro windows open (each with its own PDF document), when I reboot, Cache My Work will only reopen one of them (not sure how CMW chooses which PDF to reopen, either). Besides switching to another PDF program (like one with tabs), is there a program that can do this?

  • Mathematica + GraphPlot + GraphicsGrid with EdgeLabels

    I had some very strange problems with GraphicsGrid. The individual PraphPlot:s looks nice and ok, but the code GraphicsGrid[{{GraphPlot[{{a -> b, "ab"}, {a -> c, "7"}}]}, {GraphPlot[{{a -> b, "5"}, {a -> c, "2"}}]}}] just produces 2 big clots of garbage. If I remove the edge labels, everything works as expected. I am using Mathematica 7.0.0.
