  • android Xml-List view with filter

    Hi, android is new for me. I am trying to develop a program on 1.5 platform but still in progress, plz guide me. I have some information in following format "item1","description1" "item2","description2" "item3","description3" "item4","description4" . . . . I want to show them on screen, I dont know which is recommended way to do this. After google I found 2 method. but I failed to successfully implement any of one. Method 1 I break both columns data into 2 different arrays, then populate listactivity with array of column 1, enable filter & on clicked event I want to raise alert which should show Text clicked in tilte & desc from 2nd array as msg body based on position.   • No WIFI or LAN on Ubuntu 12.04 or 12.10 Live CD/USB using Toshiba qosmio x870

    I recently had issues with secure boot and couldn't boot the Live CD/USB but after disabling secure boot, I was able to 'TRY UBUNTU'. My currently problem is that I can't access WIFI or LAN from either Ubuntu 12.04 or 12.10 Live CD/USB which I do from Windows 8. Also, the wireless button is able to turn on and off the wireless LED but doesn't find available WIFI. Please, what should I do to get both WIFI and LAN working on Ubuntu using Toshiba qosmio x870?   • Dlink DWA-643 ExpressCard / Atheros AR5008 can't connect to wifi networks

    I've just purchased a D-Link DWA-643 Xtreme N ExpressCard Notebook Adapter - but it can't connect to my wireless network The card is listed on the FSF website and - refer links below: http://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/index_html/net/wireless/index_html/cards.html http://www.dlink.com.au/products/?pid=550 Ubuntu see the card as using the Atheros AR5008 chipset - refer image below The card lights up and I can see that available wifi networks using this card - so it seems to 'just work' on ubuntu 12.04 but when i try and connect to my networks - it fails I've tried setting the network to all the different options (WEP, WPA2, no encryption, etc.. b/g/n ) but ubuntu sill cant connect to it I've also installed wicd but still couldn't connect Has anyone got a DWA-643 to work in Ubuntu? Or does anyone have any suggestion on how to get it to connect?? Any help would be greatly appreciated Note: the laptop has built in wifi but its broadcom, works but with dialup speed connection - and i've had nothign but trouble using the boardcom drivers so purchased the FSF recommended PCI expresscard as i hoped it would 'just work' on the latest Ubuntu i've have tried to disable the built in wifi - broadcom - but even with the broadcom uninstall and unavailable it didnt help the dlink to connect previously I had MAC address filtering on the router - i've added the dlinks MAC - and also disabled MAC address filtering - still no luck lspci output below: 18:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. I am running Ubuntu 12.04-powerpc "Precise Pangolin" on a Mac PowerBook G4 with 1.67GHz processor. The firmware/driver for the wifi card is missing. For reasons not worth explaining, I cannot physically plug the computer into the network. I have another computer, a MacBook Pro running OSX, from which I can download files and port them by USB thumb drive. The wifi card in the PowerBook G4 is by Broadcom. The chip is BCM4306, rev. 3. The PCI number is 14e4:4302. I have downloaded b43-fwcutter_015-14_powerpc.deb and dropped it into the Home folder on the Ubuntu machine. However, it will not install. When I double-click, it opens with Ubuntu SoftwareCenter, but the "Install" button is inactive: I can't click it. There's a message beside the inactive button saying, "An older version of 'b43-fwcutter' is available in your normal software channels. Only install this file if you trust the origin." If I "right-click" the .deb file and open with Archive Manager, it shows me the "DEBIAN" and "usr" folders, but I'm unsure what to do from there...and fairly certain this is not the right way to do things. Maybe I have the wrong version of b43-fwcutter for my machine/version of Ubuntu? The documentation for this problem is a mess. It refers to all sorts of out-of-date Ubuntu versions and to an array of different "cutter" and firmware files. Maybe I'd be able to figure this out if I were a more seasoned Ubuntu user, but I have no idea why Sofware Center won't let me do the install. I would be VERY grateful for an explanation of how to get the wifi card working on this machine again. Thank you!

    I received my new Dell Vostro 2420 last week, and just got around to upgrading from 11.10 to 12.10. Unfortunately, like many others (after researching the issue), I no longer have WiFi. I have tried every sudo command given that worked for others, and still can't get my wireless to function. I am new to Linux, so any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Edit: I can connect via ethernet, just not via wifi.     I can't connect to my WIFI after installing Ubuntu 13.10. I tried re-installing it three times (thinking that I did something wrong during the installation) but I still can't connect to my WIFI. It just gives me the message that I'm offline and that I can't connect to my WIFI. I also tried connecting to the internet using LAN cable but with the same results.   • Can't get utouch to show available wifi networks

    I have ubuntu touch installed on a 2014 Nexus 7. Swiping down from the wireless symbol reveals a "Network" menu with the choices Flight Mode, Wifi Settings, and Cellular Settings. Wifi Settings leads to another menu: Previous Networks, and Other Networks. Previous Networks shows a list of networks used in the past; Other Networks opens an empty box for typing in the name of a network. I don't see any way to show a list of available networks detected by the device. On rare occasions, swiping down the wireless symbol actually does bring up a list of detected networks. But most of the time ubuntu touch exhibits the behavior described above, with no apparent way to bring up the list of available wireless networks. I would like to see a list of the availble networks, if there is a way to do so. Edit: The wifi menu works properly now. Just needed a couple of reboots, it seems. I have other problems, though. If these other problems persist I will make a post specific to them. This device is a 2013 Nexus 7 4G. Not sure how to find the ubuntu version. Can't navigate the settings menu right now because it got stuck and there's no way to go back, except to reboot(!) I'll open multirom manager or boot into recovery and look for the information there.

    I've currently got a preferences screen, and I've created a custom class that extends DialogPreference and is called from within my Preferences. My preferences data seems store/retrieve from SharedPreferences without an issue, but I'm trying to add 2 more sets of settings from the DialogPreference. Basically I have two issues that I have not been able to find. Every site I've seen gives me the same standard info to save/restore data and I'm still having problems.   • Android SDK emulator freezes on a Mac running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

    I'm having trouble running the Android SDK on both of my Macs running OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard. This appears to be a 64 bit vs. 32 bit issue, as Snow Leopard now defaults to 64-bit everything, including the Java virtual machine. I found this webpage with instructions on how to get the Android tools to run in the 32-bit Java VM, and I am now able to run the Android GUI tool to download SDK files, create AVM's, etc. However, when I try the Hello World tutorial and get to the point where I run my application under the Android emulator, everything goes south. The emulator appears to start but it hangs (spinning beachball of death cursor) without displaying anything. (This only hangs the emulator; the rest of the system still works fine.) If I follow the exact same steps (minus the 32-bit java hack) in a Windows virtual machine, everything works fine. Googling didn't yield anything useful (except for the 32-bit java hack I spoke of earlier). This occurs on both my Mac Pro tower and 13" MacBook Pro. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Kindle Fire: PopupMenu$OrientationChangeListener leak

    I have a little popup menu that anchors on a button in the action bar. This works well on 3.0/3.1 Xoom and Galaxy tabs, and a 4.1 Nexus 7. However, on a 7" Fire HD (this one), I get an error about a leaked intent receiver when exiting the application. The error occurs only if the menu was not opened during that run. There is no mention of OrientationChangeListener in the one copy of the source I've found; I suspect Amazon has a different implementation. Questions: Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a workaround or a fix? (Where) can I find Amazon's source code? Finally, (shudder) how important is it that I don't leak a receiver on application exit?   • Application stops on back button in new activity

    I have this application, that have a listView, and when I click in a item on listView, it opens a new activity. That works fine!   • wifi hardware switch doesn't work on a Dell 1018

    I have a problem with my Dell 1018 Inspiron. I can't switch the wifi on, through the key on the keyboard. I think it's a driver problem since Ubuntu 11.10. This are the versions i tried: Ubuntu 10.04 / 10.10 It's possible to install the driver by hand: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lexical/hwe-wireless sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install rtl8192ce-dkms Ubuntu 11.04 It works out of the box Ubuntu 11.10 / 12.04 I haven’t found any solution for these versions. The "ppa:lexical/hwe-wireless" doesn't work for these versions. It says Can not find package rtl8192ce-dkms. The window of additional drivers is empty. So I can't install the driver.     I have a non-A2DP single ear BT headset (Plantronics 510) and would like to use it with my Android HTC Magic to listen to low quality audio like podcasts/audio books. After much googling I found that only phone call audio can be routed to the non-A2DP BT headsets. (I would like to know if you have found a ready solution to route all kinds of audio to non-A2DP BT headsets) So I figured, somehow programmatically I can channel the audio to the stream that carries phone call audio. This way I will fool the phone to carry my mp3 audio to my BT headset. If I remove the AudioManager calls in the above code, the audio plays from speaker and if I replace them as shown above then the audio stops coming from speakers, but it doesn't come through the BT headset. So this might be a partial success. I have checked that the BT headset works alright with phone calls. There must be a reason for Android not supporting this. But I can't let go of the feeling that it is not possible to programmatically reroute the audio. Any ideas?   • ImageView bounds are larger than expected in android layout

    Hey all, This is a layout that I have defined in an app. As you can see, I would like the TextView "@details/image_time_counter" to be aligned with the bottom right of the image. Unfortunately, this is currently what shows - app - hierarchy viewer all - HV part 2. HierarchyViewer reports that the ImageView has bounds much bigger than what I am expecting. Can anyone explain these bounds, or just tell me how to make the bounds be the same as the image size? The application have a good internet connection and there is no problem reaching the app server-side api. I see in analytics that lots of startups and click-events the past few days are lost, even I know the traffic is normal since i can see statistics from the the server api. In the analytics reports I see a day by day under-reporting. So the problems seems to be spreading/growing to all the devices using this application. Im wondering why google does not answer this in their mail-groups - several people have complained about this...well, well...     Hi there, I'm currently working on a webservice-client for Android. I'm using a Java client library which provides an abstraction for interaction with the service. The client library works on normal machines. However, when I use the classes in my Android project, some calls don't return a result on Android, the background-service stops working at the first of those commands. Wireshark shows a tcp exchange, the server gets the requests. There is no exceptions or anything. Something in the serialization/deserialization semms not to work. I'm using the newest version of Jackson libraries (1.5.3) and the restlet jar in the android edition. Is there any known problems with Jackson and Android? Which code and libraries are compatible with Android? Thanks in advance.

    I want to display an image from an url with an Webview at Android. With Android phones with Version 1.5 and 1.6 there is no problem. but the same pic and the same code on an AndroidPhone with Version 2.0 and the pic is totaly pixelated. Like Android is resizing the image first to a smaller one and then resizing it back to "normal" size. Unfortunately its important to display the pic without any quality loss. I tried to integrate it in the sourcefolder to show it as an normal image, but at Android 2.0 i get an exception because the image is to big. (At Android 1.6 there is no problem) Any ideas how i can display the image without quality loss with Android 2.0 ?

    I'm writing my own eclipse plug-in that integrates with the Eclipse Android Development Tools (ADT). However, I'm getting a CoreException ("Project target not loaded yet.") thrown when I attempt to call IProject.build on an Android project as part of a unit test: IProject project = importProject(...); project.build(IncrementalProjectBuilder.FULL_BUILD, monitor); Should I be waiting for the project target to load before calling the above? If so, what call should I use to poll the project target loading status?

    Hi folks, I have Android development eclipse setup on Mac OS X. I recently did Android SDK upgrade from 1.5 to available versions such as 1.6, 2.0.1 and 2.1 and docs. After did upgrade, automatically restarted my Macbook and installed all new versions. After this, when i try to launch "Windows-Android SDK and AVD Manager", it doesn't launch at all. What might be the reason? Does anyone has the solution? The reason why i'm trying to launch Android SDK and AVD Manager is, i need to add new Android virtual device(avd) target for 2.0.1 and 2.1 versions, for that i'm trying to launch Android SDK and AVD Manager. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
