  • Prevent Apache restarting automatically after upgrading packages

    Following on from an earlier question: Is there a way to download security updates and notify admin without installing the update? A large number of packages interact with Apache (especially PHP) such that security updates to those packages can cause the server to attempt to restart the service. While my earlier question was answered, I'm now thinking that I need a different solution. So - is there are way to allow security updates to be applied using apt, have an email sent to an administrator, and, most importantly, prevent services from being restarted at the end of the installation/update process? The administrator will then be able to log in and restart the service manually.

    Hi, I'm running Apache on Ubuntu. My IP address is 192.168.1.101 While http://localhost and http://192.168.1.101 work fine in my PC, I cannot access it from within my laptop using http://192.168.1.102 It's strange. I can ping 192.168.1.101 but I got "The connection has timed out." in browser.     I have a hosting account with godaddy. Its a linux system running apache. The way they do their setup is your primary domain is the root folder. When you add a subdomain its in a subfolder of the root which sucks. I want to setup a subfolder structure to organize my domains.. I called godday support and they said to use redirects.. but did not know how to do that.. How its setup now: primary domain: www.domain.com / sub.domain.com /sub I want to create a directory structure and then redirect to each but only show www.domain.com in the url www.domain.com /domain/www sub.domain.com /domain/sub I tried using: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?domain.com$ RewriteRule ^(/)?$ domain/www [L] but it just changes the url to www.domain.com/domain/www Can this be done in htaccess?

  • Apache server randomly stopped working yesterday. How can I fix it?

    I use Apache version 2.2.11 through WampServer to host a website. Every time during the last week I tried to connect to localhost it went through and everything was fine. Now all of a sudden I get errors. I didn't change the configuration or anything as far as I know, it just stopped working for no apparent reason. As I said before, it's been working fine. Any way I can get it back up and working again?

    Anyone knows the steps to run Apache on server A as front end and run mod_proxy_ajp to connect to tomcat instances on server B? I want to run apache on sever A to do name based vhost that connects to many tomcat servers. I can run mod_proxy_ajp, only if apache and tomcat are on the same server. What I've tried so far: In server A, running Apache 2.2: NameVirtualHost *:80 ServerName tc0.domo.lan ErrorLog "C:\Apache\Apache2.2\logs\tc0.ajp.error.log" CustomLog "C:\Apache\Apache2.2\logs\tc0.ajp.access.log" combined DocumentRoot C:/htdocs0 AddDefaultCharset Off Order deny,allow Allow from all ProxyPass / ajp://192.168.77.233:8009/ ProxyPassReverse / ajp://192.168.77.233:8009/ Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order deny,allow Allow from all Server B: 192.168.77.233, tomcat 6 connector: I can confirm if going to http://192.168.77.233:8080/manager/html, tomcat works. When I use packet sniffer on server A, I found that server A is trying to connect to server B at port 80 when I'm connecting http://tc0.domo.lan/manager/html on server A

I want users to be redirected to http://abc.somecompanyname.com whenever they type http://abc to the URL bar. Could someone please provide and example or point me in the right direction.   • Let apache run perlscripts that don't have an extension

    I'd like to use perlscripts without their extension. f.e. "index" instead of "index.pl". Changing the DefaultType-directive from text/plain to application/x-perl didn't do the trick. Instead of running the script the server offered to download its source. I'm not exactly sure if changing this directive is the right approach. Telling apache to read the shebang-line when there is no extension sounds much better to me. I hope someone with more experience on this topic can help me out.

Please comment on apache if you think nginx etc. is more suitable. Thanks.

It is working on my browser : localhost/phpmyadmin But whhen I try localhost/joompark/installation/index.php on browser....... it show the Port 80 error. joompark is my folder name. All file and folder are right place var/www/joompark The Result is: Not Found The requested URL /joompark/installation/index.php was not found on this server.
