  • iPhone SDK Zoom like UITextField

    I have noticed in a number of apps they let you see a zoomed in view of where you are dragging just like the way it is on a UITextField (screenshot attached) but it works over images etc.. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to achieve this? Since a number of apps use it I figured that there might be something built in or an easy way to do it. Any tips are appreciated.

  • Singelton on iPhone Simulator vs Singelton on real Device

    I am using a Singelton for some shared stuff. In the simulator, the app crashes ocasionally. Tracking the crash down shows that the the properties of my Singelton became dealocated. Those crashes never happend on a real device. Does the iPHone simulator handle memory managemend different? GC maybe? Changed the singelton to match this pattern. The iPhone Simulator dont crash now, but I am not sure about the memory handling on the real device. I assume that this solution will cause problems. What do you think?

  • iPhone SDK - keep data in modal view

    Hi all, I've got a modal view loaded the following way: ModalViewController *modalController = [[ModalViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ModalViewController" bundle:nil]; searchController.delegate = self; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:modalController animated:YES]; [modalController release]; When the modal view appears, "viewDidLoad" is called. When I dismiss the modal view via [self.navigationController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; the method "viewDidUnload" ISN'T called, but the next time I let the modal view appear, "viewDidLoad" is called again. My problem now is that I'm creating an NSArray in the modal view's "viewDidLoad" - and as I'm fetching the data from the web, I would like to do it only once. But this way, it's fetched every time... Any hints how I could achieve that the data is only fetched once? I would really like to do it in the modal view and not in the parent and provide the array as parameter to the modal view... Thanks!

    Hi everyone, I'm coding a UITableView with a UISearchBar to search between a list of cities (loaded in the uitableview) Here is my code for searhing: - (void) searchTableView { NSString *searchText = searchBar.text; NSMutableArray *searchArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for (NSDictionary *dictionary in listOfItems) { NSArray *array = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Cities"]; [searchArray addObjectsFromArray:array]; } for (NSString *sTemp in searchArray) { NSRange titleResultsRange = [sTemp rangeOfString:searchText options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (titleResultsRange.length > 0) [copyListOfItems addObject:sTemp]; } [searchArray release]; searchArray = nil;} And with this everything works fine, but i need to do something a bit different. I need to search only between items that match pattern Word* and not * Word *. For example if I search "roma", this need to match just with "Roma" or "Romania" and not with "Castelli di Roma". Is that possible with this searchbar? How can i modify this? Thanks

    I can't get my query string to work..please help... I have the following url: http://betatest.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/help?fb_action_ids=372043216205703&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582 (sorry but the page will be unavailable as it is a test internal domain link) I want the following url: http://betatest.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/help I get a browser message saying 'The system cannot find the file specified.' I know it is because I already have a mod rewrite to remove the .htm from the page name to return clean urls but I don't know what I need to do to accept a clean url and return the page. Here is the mod rewrite code I have: RewriteRule ^/([\w]+)$ /$1.htm [I,L] #Any bare URL will get rewritten to a URL with .htm appended RedirectRule ^/(.+)\.(htm)$ http://betatest.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/$1 [R=301] RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^fb_action_ids=(.)$ #if the query string contains fb_action_ids RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !="" #if there is a query string RewriteRule ^(.*) $1?     I have created an avmutablecomposition and tried to use insertEmptyTimeRange to generate 1 minute of silence. This doesn't appear to be working. I have also tried creating an avmutablecompositiontrack using addMutableTrackWithMediaType:preferredTrackID: and then insertEmptyTimeRange on the track and still no success. To give some background on my app, I allow users to add audio samples a timeline and then playback or export and this is working really well using the av classes. The problem is that I need to make sure that the audio is exactly 1 min (for example). Regardless of the info about my specific app above, is it possible to insert an empty time range into a comp or comptrack?

    Hi all, In my aplication, I want a tableview with different cell structure depending upon the category of data that's getting loaded in it [I have different categories like video, editorial etc with different structure of data like video has a single label, editorial has 3 labels etc]. I can load different nib files based on the data coming from xml parser. Now when the cell is tapped, I want to show its detailed view on a new viewController. So my question is is it possible to use only 1 viewController show different fields depending upon the category of data in the cell. Or do I need to create different viewControllers for each of the categories?

(Object-B are Bubbles in my game) so, i try when I touch the bubble (object-B), that disappears or perform any actions.     I have a few questions about CoreLocation and GPS. First, what method in core location is used to continually get the users current coordinates? And at what interval should these be retrieved? Second, should these coordinates be pushed into a NSMutableArray each time they are received, so that the array of coordinates will represent the users path?     Hi all, In my application, I'm adding a label and two buttons on cell of UItableView [I have not created a separate cell class]. I'm adding these to cell and not cell.contentview. After I run my application on IPhone, the tableview cell rendering after I move the cells up-down, is very jerky. Is it because I'm not adding the views on cell.contentView or because I've not created a custom class for cell? Can anybody please help? Thanks in advance.
