    Given the following method: (real method has a few more parameters, but the important ones are below...) public string DoSomething(string formatter, params string[] values) { // Do something eventually involving a call to String.Format(formatter, values); } Is there a way to tell if my values array has enough objects in it to cover the formatter, so that I can throw an exception if there aren't (short of doing the string.Format; that isn't an option until the end due to some lambda conversions)?

    I am new to Programming languages. I have a requirement where I have to return a record based on a search string. For e.g. I am having the following 3 records and my search string is 'Cal' 1)University of California 2)Pascal Institute 3)California University If I try string.Contains, all 3 are returned. If I try string.starts-with, I get only 3 but my requirement is I need #1 and #3 in the result. Thank you for your help. -Joel

It will look for :::: tags and get 123 from the it and strip off other words in the sentence.     What is the best way for converting phone numbers into international format (E.164) using Java? Given a 'phone number' and a country id (let's say an ISO country code), I would like to convert it into a standard E.164 international format phone number. I am sure I can do it by hand quite easily - but I would not be sure it would work correctly in all situations. Which Java framework/library/utility would you recommend to accomplish this? P.S. The 'phone number' could be anything identifiable by the general public - such as * (510) 786-0404 * 1-800-GOT-MILK * +44-(0)800-7310658 that last one is my favourite - it is how some people write their number in the UK and means that you should either use the +44 or you should use the 0. The E.164 format number should be all numeric, and use the full international country code (e.g.+44)

    Ok I'm trying to make search terms bold in this search script I'm making, except I can't get it to work case insensitive. function highlight($term,$target){ $terms = explode(" ", $term); foreach($terms as $term){ $result = (eregi_replace($term, "<strong>$term</strong>", $target)); } return $result; } That is the function I have so far.. It says on PHP.net that eregi_replace is case insensitive matching but it's obviously not working for some reason. (I'm a noob). Any ideas? :D

I am using return string.Format(string.Format("{0:#" + (val < 1000 ? "" : "\\.") + "##0.00}", val)); which returns for the example 54614977.026,00 (only one dot) Any help would be appreciated

    I just whipped up a program to export a dataset to a text file and am running into a issue with data from an observation being wrapped to the line below in the exported file. Below is a stripped down version of my program and the text seems to be wrapping at column 1025. Does anyone happen to know why this is occurring and how to go about ensuring that record data stays on its own row?
