• Pause/play AJAX on particular tabs in firefox

  Hi, I want to know if there is some method to disable AJAX on particular tabs within Firefox and re-enable them later. My concern is that I have metered bandwidth, and I need to conserve my usage. But I also like to leave several Gmail tabs open in the background. It would be great if I could just hit a "Pause AJAX" button, to stop the contents of that tab from sending or receiving anything, and then later on hit a "Play" button when I want it to start doing its thing again. Any suggestions?

  Hi All. First question here on superuser. I sometimes get ad-hoc bug reports from customers, which I need to transfer to our online bug tracker. Works fine for text, but pictures are tedious. I'm looking for a solution to copy-paste images from documents (like excel sheets) in a way that if you paste an image to a file input (or text input) on a html page, the file will automatically be written to disk (tmp dir), and the path written to the file input field. This question is related to Directly paste clipboard image into gmail message, but I would like to ask if there is a solution using a local program only. I'm interested in solutions for all OS's.

• Make Chrome's Omnibar behave more like the Firefox AwesomeBar

  One of my favorite features of the Firefox AwesomeBar is that I can simply type a substring of any URL or page title in my history and it finds all matches sorted by how frequently they were accessed. Example: I simply type "ask" when I want to ask something on stackoverflow.com., "inbox" goes to my GMail Inbox and so on because the substring matches any part of the URL or the page title. Chrome's Omnibar is quite frustrating in this area. I am not able to predict what it's gonna fetch and I seem to have no way to train the thing to do my bidding. I have unchecked the option that says: "Use a suggestion service to help complete searches and URLs typed..." but there has been no noticeable improvement. Any clues how I can make the Omnibar behave?

After coming back up the POP3/IMAP4 and Transport services are complaining that they cannot find the correct SSL certificate for mail.example.com. • How to add a disclaimer to forwarded messages to outside domains in Exchange 2013?

  I would like to implement some kind of filter to add a disclaimer message within emails forwarded to outside domains. Today we have some users that setup filters to forward messages to external mail servers, as example @gmail addresses. So this kind of forward should be marked with the disclaimer message. Not the normal fwd messages. We have a Postfix mailfiltering gateway too, if it's simpler to implement this on the mail filter, it could be a viable option. • DNS: domain2 points to domain1

  I have one domain ("domain1") that is set up with hosting and mail (hosted by Gmail Apps). This domain works perfectly. I want a second domain ("domain2") to forward to domain1, but I don't want to use "DNS Forwarding." I would like to have it act EXACTLY like domain1, so that domain2/whatever points to the same resource as domain1/whatever WITHOUT AN HTTP REDIRECT NOR BROWSER TRICKS LIKE FRAMES. I would also love to be able to send mail to "blah@domain2" and have it go to "blah@domain1". Can this be set up, and how? I am using GoDaddy as registrar and DNS host for both domains. GoDaddy is also the web host for domain1, and mail hosting is with Google Apps.

• Windows 7 - Runs in safe mode, crashes in "normal" mode

  A couple of days ago I came back from a meeting to find my laptop had locked up. Power lights still on but the screen was blank (by which I mean black, though still "backlit" so not dead). Didn't respond to anything. I rebooted and it powered up fine and I got to the login screen. I logged in and it seemed to be going fine for about 30 seconds (gmail notifier and pidgin popped up) then the same thing happened - black screen. If I boot into Safe Mode it's all fine, no problems. I've tried removing everything from the startup folders (All users and my login), everything from the Run section of the registry (Local Machine and my login) and I've disabled every service which doesn't run in Safe Mode (assuming anything running in safe mode is OK) but the problem still exists. I've scanned the memory for errors (all fine). Any thoughts on what else I could try?

It looks very similar to bookmarks to me. When you click either bookmarks or this installed applications, it opens new tab and the site or application can be viewed. My question is what is the main difference between normal web application like Gmail, or Super user or Facebook and these installable websites? Also what is the advantage in using this installable web apps from normal web applications which we can access by entering url in the browser address bar? • Any e-mail client with additional grouping functionality on Mac OS X?

  Hello, I'm very unhappy with my mail experience. I'm receiving a lot of mails from various clients and projects and need a way to better organize them. I would really love to have additional grouping-functionality with the e-mail client. Currently I'm using Mac OS X's Mail.app, but I am not bound to this. So I am open to any Mail.app-plugin or independent mail application commercial or not for Mac OS X -- should support IMAP, though -- but I think this should not be a problem nowadays? With Mail.app i'm doing the following: group by thread sort by datetime descending What I would love to have is not only additional tagging-functionality for e-mails -- I know, that at least thunderbird and postbox support them. I would love to have some additional grouping functionality for these tags -- inside the main mail window. So maybe I can summarize the important points: "native" Mac OS X mail client (no web-mailer please) automatic-tagging functionality (eg.: auto-apply tags by some kind of filter) easy access to tagged mails Easy access to tagged mails: I would really love to have some additional grouping functionality in the mail folders. The mail application should put all tagged mails in a group -- the groups should be sorted by last received e-mail. Inside the group I would still like to have the possiblity to group by thread. or It would be ok to have a list of tags (topics) on the left pane of the mail client. • Google Accounts

  Hi all, I need to setup a bunch of accounts (~50) with Google which will later be hooked up to Analytics and the Webmaster tools and I will access them via their APIs. The problem is that Google will stop me from making accounts at a certain point because it thinks I'm spamming it. I've tried bypassing the issue by proxying through Tor, but that didn't work (I suspect the Tor nodes are already abused and blacklisted). I also drove around town with my iPhone hopping towers trying to setup accounts. Also didn't work. Phone verification also doesn't work because my phone is already linked to too many accounts... So, I figure it's time to ask. How can I continue to setup Google accounts (NOT GMail...) without being considered a spammer? If there's a service from Google to whitelist my IP, even for a fee, I would be glad to sign up for it. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

  i've got some questions about how it works: so ubuntu server comes with postfix installed. if i want my php script to send a mail to lets say [email protected], how does it work? do i have to specify any ip to another MTA (my ISP's MTA?) in postfix's configuration file? and if someone sends back, will it get to my ip? is it postfix that receives it? or has it to do with fetchmail?

• Can my email address be revoked? [closed]

  I did some work with an organization and had a falling out, so I left them. They used postfix to have [email protected], and I had one. I set up gmail to get my mail via POP as well as to "send mail as @_.com". I think for a long time they forgot to delete my email address and now it seems that I can send but not receive mail at the address. What could a possible explanation for this be? Can they revoke delivery but not sending from the address? Why would they only revoke one if they cna revoke both? Is it more tedious or difficult a task to revoke sending? Thanks

  I already have Ssmtp installed and working in a Centos 5.7 machine with Gmail configured. I can send mails in th shell without problems. Now i want to use the ssmtp to allow a web app (installed in the same machine) to send mails but for do this i have to find a way to ssmtp "hears" in the port 25 (or any other). There is a way to do this? There is another simple alternative to ssmtp who allows to send mail using localhost:25? Thanks.

• Use Outlook 2007 to connect to mail using active sync protocol

  Has anyone tried connected outlook(I am running v2007 on Windows 7) to a mail service using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol? I know it is intended for mobile devices, but to me it looks like it is becoming the latest 'de facto' mail protocol for email/calendar/contact sync'ing due to the iPhone's support for it. I just think it would be an elegant solution to get my lotus notes mail in outlook(my company uses lotus notes with traveler service installed that exposes mail over the active sync protocol so I can currently read my notes mail via iPhone). This solution would probably eliminate the need for all the hacks needed to connect outlook to 'X' mail (Gmail, notes, etc) So, maybe someone out there has tried this or knows how to do it before spend time on more researching this. • Auto-responder rule in Outlook 2010 produces double signature (but only to certain emails)

  I have set up an auto-responder in Outlook 2010 using a custom template, as a staff member will be on vacation for 6 weeks. It works perfectly, apart from the fact certain people receive two signatures at the bottom of the message instead of one. When reviewing the "sent" folder, there is no sign of double signatures. In the custom template, there is only 1 copy of the signature. Signatures are set to be applied automatically to new messages or replies- however, if I remove the signature from the template, then it seems no one receives a response with the signature. People sending from Hotmail accounts do not receive a duplicate signature. Gmail users do see a duplicate signature. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

• What is your best solution for task management?

  I have Outlook at work, Gmail at home and a BlackBerry (only syncs with work Outlook). I see that there are a number of online websites that support webbased task lists such as "remember the milk", etc. My biggest issue with Outlook is that I flag a number of emails as tasks and they show up as tasks in Outlook but NOT on my BlackBerry. I still haven't found a workaround to this. I see there is some BlackBerry sync tools but I am not sure if this will work with my corporate network. Any suggestions for getting this to work or another optimal task management solution that works at home, work and on the road?

• Recommendation for email setup for programatically sending lots of emails

  To clarify I have an app that notifies users via email when certain actions take place (I am not spamming as the user has opted in to the notifications and can change that option at any time). Because of number of emails that needs to be sent, Gmail, Yahoo, etc will not work. Unless I am mistaken services like MailChimp, Lyris, etc will also not fit this need since every email is sent one at a time and is very specific to the user and action that took place. What I really want is something that would allow me to be able to call some mail function, give it a recipient, from, message and subject, and not have it be blocked by the email service. This can be a free or paid service. I have server access so I can install something if necessary as well but I don't know much about email services and fear if I do it myself, I'll get blocked by some other player like my VPS host or ISP or something.

• Ubuntu VPS - email and webserver

  I have a VPS based on Ubuntu, it has installed whole LAMP, everything needed for a web server and it works perfectly, but I'm still not able to configure it as a mail server.... I have configured MX record for my domain mail.mydomain.com and this part is OK, I also installed Postfix, Dovecot and Roundcube, configured it using this tutorial: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Mail_Server_setup And after hours of configuring it doesn't work. I have experience with Linux and web hosting, but I successfully configured mail server once in past on Debian 6, and that with help from there. When I try to send email to me my gmail says: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain mydomain.com by dc147738a1117e4c12273.mydomain.com. [MY_SERVER_IP]. The error that the other server returned was: 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied Also I have Webmin control panel which works perfectly, how to configure postfix and dovecot from there? • How do I sent an "over-sized" video via my Anrdoid?

  When I try to e-mail my 10-minute videos to my gmail account, but when I try to attach the videos the phone gives me this error: 'File is too large and cannot be attached'. Can't reproduce because my Android is hooked up to USB, but I'll edit-- S3x-- What's any convenient way to upload/send a video without having to get out the USB? Can I do it without using any 3rd-party apps, or at least using safe 3rd-party apps? Youtube is an option, I believe, but I want to have a hard copy on my PC for editing. Attachments are more convenient.

• Firefox's master password does not protect my web accounts

  I've set up a master password in Firefox 3.6 but it's not working as I expected. I always save my passwords within Firefox for frequently visited sites like Facebook, Yahoo! mail, Gmail, Twitter etc. and this way I don't have to type in my password every time I open that site. When I open Firefox, it asks for the master password but when I click Cancel, it opens normally, and lets me directly in my Facebook page, or Yahoo! Mail page. Why doesn't it protect my accounts? This way, anyone using my computer can see my accounts and it's totally pointless for me to use this master password. How can I protect my accounts with saved passwords in Firefox?

• Citadel mail server software non-DIY alternatives

  I have ha VPS on webbynode with Citadel groupware suite installed, but I'm not so happy with It. I would like to try other alternatives. This is a VPS where I do tons of experiment so it's better for me to avoid any DIY solution if not extremely easy to reinstall. In fact I destroy and rebuild this VPS frequently. • My Mac is slow but don't know what's slowing it down

  My Mac (Macbook Pro) is sometimes slow doing basic tasks, like browsing the web or something like that. If I open Activity Monitor, I have (maybe) one program that is about 10 % CPU, others are below 1 %. My CPU usage is not full. I still have more than 2 GB of free memory (out of 5 GB). There is no heavy I/O activity like copying files. My open programs are Google Chrome (6 tabs, none of which are in some way (flash, many DOM objects, Javascript) have IMO, except maybe Gmail), Activity Monitor, Finder, Sublime Text 2 (text editor) and iTerm (terminal). What is causing the slowdown? "Slow" being: taking time to write these characters (I press the keyboard keys but there is a delay before I see them on the screen), changing tabs or programs, etc.

• What to do with a Blowfish Key?

  I just completed backing up 8 years of my Gmail using http://gmvault.org I selected the --encrypt option which uses Blowfish encryption. According to their site: Emails can be encrypted with the option -e --encrypt. With that option, the Blowfish encryption is used to crypt your emails and chats and the first time you activate it, a secret key is randomly generated and stored in $HOME/.gmvault/token.sec. Keep great care of the secret key as if you loose or delete it your stored emails won't be readable anymore !!! I'm using OSX Lion. I'm a software engineer but far from an encryption expert. What should I do with this key? It seems like leaving it where it is now (alongside the emails) sort of misses the point of encrypting them to begin with.
